This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Indeed, Wu Shengnan’s father had subtly indicated at home that it wouldn’t be long before he was transferred elsewhere.

Once he was moved, Wu Shengnan’s biggest support would disappear. Even with the connections her father left behind, they wouldn’t be as effective as her own father.

Since he had already agreed to Wu Shengnan’s career pursuits, he might as well help Wu Shengnan build up some confidence in her position beforehand.

He didn’t expect Wu Shengnan to achieve much in her position, but only hoped that there would be fewer unpleasant matters in her actual job and its content.

After all, no one can guarantee that they won’t get sick, their family members won’t fall ill, or their relatives and friends won’t get sick. Therefore, a life-saving doctor like himself would surely not be ignored by anyone.

Meanwhile, Captain Tao was once again stunned by Du Heng’s confident words. He had thought a lot, but since different professions are worlds apart, he didn’t know what to say.

Just then, Du Heng’s phone rang, informing him that all of Leader Zhang’s hospital admission procedures were completed.

Du Heng immediately stood up and, smiling, extended an invitation to Captain Tao, ”Leader Tao, the hospital room is ready. Shall we go over now?”

Captain Tao cleared his mind of the swirling thoughts and made an inviting gesture with his hand, ”Then I’ll have to trouble President Du. It’s also a good opportunity for me to witness President Du’s divine skill.”

Du Heng chuckled, ”I wouldn’t dare claim divine skill, it’s merely the application of experience from seniors in the field. Please.”

Once they reached the hospital room, Du Heng performed another check-up, then proceeded to write a prescription, instructing Doctor Ma, ”All the medicines in the prescription should be soaked in cold water for one hour, then boiled over high heat for ten minutes until the liquid is reduced to 1,200 milliliters. Divide this into four doses. Each time, the patient should take 300 milliliters of the decoction, along with gypsum powder and refined mirabilite, every two hours.”

Doctor Ma nodded, took the prescription, and walked out of the hospital room.

Listening to Du Heng’s medication instructions, Captain Tao was stunned again.

He had thought he would see the effects Du Heng mentioned quickly, but he hadn’t expected that just soaking the medicinal ingredients before decoction would take an hour. This was quite different from what he had imagined.

Du Heng wasn’t aware of what Captain Tao was thinking. After glancing at the crowd of people filling the hospital room, he said to Captain Tao, ”Leader Tao, we still need to wait for some time. Would you and your men like to wait in my office?”

Wu Shengnan was standing quietly behind everyone, not trying to draw attention to herself. However, seeing Du Heng so relaxed in front of her colleagues, a pleased smile tugged at the corners of her eyes.

Although Leader Zhang hadn’t recovered yet, and she knew it was inappropriate to look so happy, she couldn’t control her delight at seeing Du Heng command attention so impressively.

When she heard Du Heng invite everyone to his office, she was especially eager to see his workspace.

To be honest, since Du Heng had come to the Municipal Maternal and Child Health Hospital, she hadn’t had a proper look at his working environment.

However, Captain Tao immediately dashed her hopes, replying, ”We won’t trouble President Du. We’ll just wait here.”

Upon hearing the rejection, Du Heng naturally did not insist. Moreover, he couldn’t stay there with them either. After saying, ”My apologies,” he turned and left the hospital room. As he was leaving, he exchanged a smile with Wu Shengnan but didn’t say anything more.

Just as he stepped out, intending to return to his office, Kang Zhirong called out from behind him, ”Dean, Director Gao would like to see you.”

Du Heng paused and asked quietly, ”What’s the matter?”

Kang Zhirong shook his head, ”Director Gao didn’t say. He just asked you to go over.”

”The outpatient service or the hospital room?”

”Outpatient service.”

The outpatient service, huh. Du Heng sighed softly and changed direction, heading towards the outpatient service.

A few minutes later, Du Heng appeared before Director Gao and asked with a smile, ”Director Gao, did you call for me for something?”

Director Gao chuckled. ”President Du, it’s hard to even get a moment of your time these days. I wouldn’t dare to summon you casually.”

Setting the joke aside, Director Gao quickly said, ”Earlier, there was a patient with breast nodules. My suggestion was to perform a surgical removal, but the patient disagreed and wanted conservative treatment.

Since you, President Du, are a leading expert in treating tumors and nodules, I wanted to ask you to take a look and see if conservative treatment is an option.”

Du Heng just smiled at Director Gao’s flattery, not taking it too seriously. So he simply smiled and asked, ”How old is the patient, and why does she disagree with the surgery?”

”The patient is forty-nine years old with several nodules in both breasts. She also has a family history of breast cancer. Although a pathological puncture hasn’t been done yet, I anticipate a full mastectomy will be necessary.”

After hearing Director Gao’s words, Du Heng touched his chin. ”A love of beauty is common to all. Forty-nine is an awkward age—not quite old, not quite young.”

Then, looking at Director Gao, he asked, ”So, Director Gao, in your opinion, is surgery the only option?”

Director Gao hesitated for a moment before saying, ”Based on my past experience, surgical removal is the only viable path, and it cannot be delayed.

However, now that you’re here, President Du, your expertise in traditional Chinese medicine has rendered all my previous experience obsolete. So, I daren’t jump to conclusions. I’d rather you take a look first.”
