This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Another person chimed in, ”If their views were correct, they should completely stop eating pork. Lard is refined from pork, so eating pork means ingesting lard. So, you see, a thousand-mile dike can collapse due to an anthill; don’t underestimate these small details.”

Du Heng fully agreed with this statement.

Yet, it was this simple truth that many ordinary people still believed, even regarding it as gospel, which was both laughable and sad.

Du Heng sighed and then said slowly, ”Let me tell you another thing. There was a time when they heavily promoted the Western female lifestyle, encouraging our women to adopt those Western standards. This meant that during their menstrual periods, women should not have dietary restrictions or worry about raw and cold food. After giving birth, they should also be like Western women and abandon the tradition of the confinement period. They claimed the confinement period was a feudal remnant, a shackle on women that should be discarded.

”It’s ridiculous that many of our self-proclaimed modern women actually believed this. But they didn’t consider that the lifestyle of those Western women would cause them to start aging at thirty, while our women can maintain their youth until fifty. They were blind to this, choosing temporary gratification. It was truly baffling.”

Perhaps Wu Buwei sensed the awkward atmosphere and suddenly chuckled, ”They’re all just little darlings, Senior Brother. How can you talk about them like that?”

Du Heng glanced at Wu Buwei speechlessly and muttered, ”Get lost.”

Then, the elder doctor spoke up, ”Before I joined the Chinese Medicine Department, I worked in the Gynecology Department. Based on my work experience and reviewing disease records, gynecological diseases, compared to twenty years ago, are now appearing in younger patients and present with more variety. The incidence of gynecological tumors is also increasing. Dean, do you think this is related to the lifestyle changes you just mentioned?”

This was the first time Du Heng had heard such a well-thought-out and insightful question in his own hospital. It showed that there were still some ambitious people among his staff.

However, this question made Du Heng pause in thought for a moment.

After some consideration, Du Heng said, ”Regarding gynecological tumors, I’ve obtained a lot of materials from Professor Lan Changhua of the Capital Good Friend Hospital. I also got more data through Director Mei’s connections at the Provincial Women and Children’s Hospital. Combining these with our hospital’s medical records, I’ve found that it’s not just common gynecological diseases showing this trend; gynecological tumors are also increasingly affecting younger individuals.”

He paused briefly, reorganized his thoughts, and then continued, ”In traditional Chinese medicine, there’s a saying: ’Smooth circulation of qi and blood eliminates all diseases.’ Women generally have a constitution that tends toward cold. Cold leads to stagnation, stagnation leads to obstruction, and obstruction leads to pain. This is the cause of dysmenorrhea in most women.

”Nowadays, many young women don’t avoid raw and cold food and prefer revealing clothing, especially midriff outfits, which further aggravates the cold in their bodies. Influenced by Western medicine, they are also gradually neglecting the proper care during their menstrual periods, focusing only on hygiene. But in the theory of our traditional Chinese medicine, a woman’s menstrual period is not just a physiological phenomenon; it’s also a process of eliminating ’waste residues’ from the body.”

”Waste residues?”

Hearing this term, the audience reacted variously: some were puzzled, some looked dazed, and others fell deep in thought. All of them stared intently at Du Heng.

Du Heng cleared his throat and continued, ”The body’s functions involve transformation into essence, qi, and spirit. This transformation cannot be one hundred percent efficient, so waste residues are inevitably produced. To expel these residues, they must be discharged from yang to yin. For women, the chest is yang and the lower body is yin. Expelling these residues downwards in a cycle allows the body to maintain a perpetual state of health.

”However, because women now often have excessively cold constitutions and poor circulation of qi and blood, almost all suffer from issues like irregular menstrual flow and dysmenorrhea. If left unaddressed for a long time, the accumulation of waste residues will cause lesions in their bodies. Diseases such as breast nodules and cervical myomas are becoming more prevalent and are affecting younger patients.”

Those present were all experienced senior doctors, the pillars of their respective hospitals, with only Wu Buwei being slightly less seasoned. However, Du Heng had ensured Wu Buwei had a solid foundation, and his overall approach to traditional Chinese medicine treatment had already been cultivated. So, when Du Heng finished speaking, the entire group fell into deep thought.

Although many of them, perhaps even all, would not specialize in gynecological treatment in the future, the advantage of traditional Chinese medicine lies in adult medicine, in its holistic nature. Therefore, Du Heng’s words were still very helpful to them.

Wu Buwei was the quickest to react. After digesting Du Heng’s words, he frowned and asked, ”Dean, then why do men also get breast nodules nowadays?”

”That’s an excellent question,” Du Heng replied. ”The reason is that just as women have physiological cycles, men do too. It’s just that the women’s cycle moves from top to bottom, while the men’s moves from bottom to top.”

Wu Buwei looked a bit confused. ”That doesn’t seem right. Women have their menstrual period every month, but men don’t.”

Du Heng chuckled, looking at Wu Buwei. ”And who told you men don’t?”

”They do?” Wu Buwei was completely dumbfounded.
