This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

”Take aconite, for instance. It’s well-known for contributing to yang retention and preventing stem desertion. But if I don’t specify what accompanying medicine to use under what circumstances, who would dare use it, even if the prescription is right there?”

Du Xuejing felt even more wronged. She had genuinely been studying diligently for the past month. Even though copying prescriptions kept her up until the wee hours every night, and she had to rise early the next day, she was truly meticulous in her work.

However, Du Heng didn’t know what his niece was thinking. He continued to earnestly advise Du Xuejing, ”Tingting, I told you before you chose your major that studying medicine is exhausting. You need to be prepared for the hardship. Moreover, this kind of opportunity is a great luxury for many medical students. You have to take it seriously. At this stage, I don’t expect you to understand everything thoroughly. However, you need to remember those prescriptions and know what approach to take in certain situations. Once you learn more later, these things will naturally become clear to you.”

”I understand, Little Uncle. I will study diligently and not disappoint your and Mr. Ma’s teachings,” Du Xuejing hurriedly promised. Then she continued, ”But Little Uncle, I was just venting a little earlier. I wanted to show you that I have been studying seriously and diligently. I genuinely don’t have any thoughts of slacking.”

Err… Did I get it wrong?

Du Heng’s heart skipped a beat. Listening to Du Xuejing, my reaction might have been a bit excessive.

Du Xuejing pouted again, aggrieved. ”Little Uncle, I came to you today because I wanted to discuss something with you.”

”Go ahead.”

”A month ago, didn’t you say that when Xiaoya felt a bit better, she could come and study with me?” Du Xuejing looked at Du Heng pitifully and said, ”Now Xiaoya has mostly recovered. Can I bring Xiaoya over?”

Seeing Du Heng frown, Du Xuejing quickly added, ”Little Uncle, you promised this! You can’t go back on your word.”

Du Heng looked at Du Xuejing with amusement. ”Alright, she can. I’ll talk to Doctor Ma later and ask Gu Ya to come over tomorrow morning.”

Although Doctor Ma certainly wouldn’t object to adding Gu Ya, Du Heng would be the one owing the favor. But since he was already doing a favor regarding Du Xuejing, owing one more wasn’t a big issue.

Du Xuejing didn’t know what Du Heng was thinking. Seeing him agree so readily, her earlier grievances and unhappiness instantly vanished. She said sweetly, ”Thank you, Little Uncle,” and then skipped away happily.

Watching his niece’s departing figure, Du Heng also smiled happily. She’s still just a child.

Du Xuejing was only nineteen. With Du Heng around for the past two years, the young girl hadn’t yet experienced the harshness of society, so she was a bit slow to mature.

Wu Buwei, however, was undoubtedly an adult. He had begun to consider matters more comprehensively. His progress was especially noticeable after being the project manager for a month. Now, looking at the paper outlines and framework Du Heng had prepared, Wu Buwei started to hesitate, feeling troubled.

Du Heng noticed Wu Buwei’s difficulty, but he didn’t plan to say much about it. He had given this task to Wu Buwei to help him build more authority and, at the same time, improve his abilities.

He chuckled lightly. ”I’ve looked at the paper topics you all submitted. It’s not that they’re bad, but they’re too narrow in scope. Even if you wrote them up, getting them published in a core journal would be quite troublesome. I’ve revised them a bit; give them back to whoever they belong to. As for the few topics I’ve formulated myself, you can decide how to assign them.”

Wu Buwei scratched his head, looking troubled. ”Senior Brother, including our own staff at the hospital, we have twelve doctors. But these... there are only six outlines. That’s not enough to go around.”

”That’s not my concern. That’s your responsibility as the project manager,” Du Heng said, directly passing the buck. ”Moreover, I want to make one thing clear: this is the first time I’m providing topics for everyone, and it will also be the last. In the future, anyone who wants to write a paper must think of their own research direction and topic before coming to me.”

Wu Buwei understood Du Heng’s personality well. Since Du Heng had said so, he definitely wouldn’t involve himself in this matter any further. This made Wu Buwei’s head ache even more. ”Alright then, I’ll figure something out. But Senior Brother, isn’t proposing so many topics at once a bit much?”

Du Heng’s mouth twitched. ”There might seem to be many topics, but how long do you think it will take them to write the papers? I estimate that the fastest among them will need at least three months. As for the slower ones, they might not even be finished by the time I’ve summarized the prescriptions and concluded this project. So, don’t get hung up on this issue.”

Wu Buwei sighed helplessly.

Although Du Heng had just expressed his disdain for their team, Wu Buwei genuinely couldn’t refute him. A month had passed, and they still needed Du Heng to correct their treatment plans. There wasn’t the slightest sign of this need decreasing. As the project manager, Wu Buwei truly lacked the courage to argue with Du Heng.

Du Heng looked at the troubled Wu Buwei and smirked. ”Alright, go back and worry about it yourself. I have to make a trip to the Provincial First Hospital.”

”Alright then.”

Wu Buwei nodded again in resignation and then reluctantly left Du Heng’s office.

Du Heng also tidied up a bit and then left his office.

Just as he reached the entrance of the Hall, the sound of a child’s loud crying came from behind him.
