This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Wei Kaida looked at Du Heng sullenly. ”Alright, alright. I take on a disciple, and I still get a lecture from you. Leave the kid here and scram. The sight of you is annoying.”

”I don’t like talking to you either.” Du Heng also glared resentfully at Wei Kaida, then turned to Du Yi and smiled. ”Xiao Yi, from now on you’ll study with this uncle. You have to behave, you hear? Every morning, your Mother will drop you off here, and she’ll come pick you up in the evening once you’re done studying, alright?”

Du Yi was a bit confused. But he was a bright child and somewhat understood the conversation between Du Heng and Wei Kaida. However, studying or not didn’t matter to him; he just wanted to ask Du Heng one question: ”Little Uncle, what about the tutoring classes you signed me up for? If I study here every day, I won’t be able to go to them.”

”This is your tutoring class,” Du Heng stated matter-of-factly.

”AHHHH!” Du Yi’s eyes instantly filled with tears. ”Little Uncle, didn’t you say you’d sign me up for a martial arts class?”

Du Heng blinked twice. ”Did I say that? I just said I’d sign you up for a tutoring class, and you agreed. You can’t go back on your word now.”

Du Yi was, after all, still only seven years old. Being tricked by Du Heng like this made large tears stream down his cheeks. But with Wei Kaida present, the child was too embarrassed to wail out loud. However, the more he held back his sobs, the cuter he appeared, instantly igniting Wei Kaida’s compassionate heart. He only just realized how much he liked children, especially cute ones like this.

He pushed Du Heng aside and tenderly gathered Du Yi into his arms. ”You’re no fun at all! Is it amusing to tease a child like this? Hurry up and go. Scram!”

Then he looked at Du Yi and whispered softly, ”There, there, no more crying. Your Little Uncle is a liar. We’ll ignore him. Uncle will take you to the aquarium to see huge sharks, and then we’ll go on the bumper cars, okay?”

Although Du Heng’s teasing had upset Du Yi, the boy’s eyes remained fixated on him. This made Du Heng feel he had gone too far, so he coaxed softly, ”How about this: you go play with Uncle today, and Little Uncle will pick you up in the evening. Then, on Saturday and Sunday, Little Uncle will sign you up for a martial arts class, okay?”

Hearing this, Du Yi reluctantly held back his tears, but his gaze shifted between Du Heng and Wei Kaida. He was still very wary of this uncle he had just met.

Du Heng felt a pang of guilt and considered accompanying them for the day to help them get acquainted. But just as he was about to speak, the phone in his pocket rang.

”Du, you’re impossible,” Liao Quansheng’s displeased voice came from the other end as soon as the call connected.

Du Heng laughed. ”Liao, you’d better explain. How am I being impossible?”

”You got the money, and not a word of thanks, let alone an invitation to dinner?”

”Liao, trees need bark and people need their dignity. Shouldn’t you be thanking me for helping you make money?”

”Fine. XX Restaurant. I’ve already reserved a table. Are you coming or not?”

Du Heng was speechless. This old boy has really learned how to talk now, hasn’t he? ”Alright, wait for me. I’ll definitely eat back every penny I helped you earn!”

After hanging up, Du Heng looked at Wei Kaida. ”Liao called. He’s treating us to dinner. Want to come along?”

Wei Kaida shook his head immediately. ”I’ll pass. I’m not as close to him as you are. But judging from your conversation, you made some money?”

”Yeah, a bit.”

”How much?”

”Not much. Seven figures,” Du Heng said, his calm tone laced with an undeniable smugness.

”Damn!” Hearing this number, even Wei Kaida, who was never short of money, couldn’t help but curse. ”Du Heng, if you’re still human, you have to treat me to a good meal!”

”Weren’t you not going?”

”I’m not eating Liao’s treat, but I never said I wouldn’t eat yours,” Wei Kaida said, rolling his eyes.

Du Heng laughed confidently. ”No problem. You choose the place, you pick the dishes.”

”You’re the one who said it.”

”A gentleman’s word.”

”Once given, is irrevocable,” Wei Kaida stated. ”You go handle your business today. Wait for my call tomorrow.”

”Alright, I’m off then. I’ll leave Xiao Yi in your care.” Du Heng then looked at Du Yi and patted his cheek. ”Go have fun with Uncle today. Little Uncle will pick you up this evening.”

With that, he quickly left the Perilla Clinic, ignoring Du Yi’s reluctant gaze.

He was afraid that if he looked any longer, Du Yi’s pleading eyes would melt his heart.
