This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

As things stand, it’s going to be difficult for Du Xuejing to make any progress in traditional Chinese medicine. Her talent in learning it is incomparable to that of Du Yi, who just turned seven. However, given Gu Ya’s current condition, Du Heng could only explain it to her honestly.

”First, let’s talk about the first issue: liver wood overcomes stomach earth, which results in loss of appetite. Now that she has also injured her stomach qi, this situation has worsened. She’s lost her appetite even more, doesn’t want to eat, vomits, and suffers from non-stop Hiccups.”

Du Heng paused slightly, then continued slowly, ”Now let’s talk about why she’s vomiting and has Hiccups. As I’ve mentioned before, Gu Ya damaged her liver and kidney by taking weight loss drugs. The stomach is the gate of the kidney. Now that her stomach qi is injured, kidney water insufficiency is inevitable, so it cannot moisturize the stomach or help the throat. Imagine your throat becoming arid land, the rivers dry, and boats unable to move—wouldn’t that be unbearable? Moreover, kidney water insufficiency prevents it from nourishing the large intestine, which will cause it to become thin and hard over time. Since the intestines have become so narrow and hard, how can they propel food from the stomach? Since it can’t move downward, it’ll accumulate and flow upward, forcing her to vomit. So, did you both understand?”

Gu Ya nodded gently, continuing to look at Du Heng with timid eyes.

Du Xuejing, however, said directly, ”In other words, Xiaoya’s illness is in the kidneys, manifesting as kidney water insufficiency. So, we need to treat the kidneys?”

Hearing Du Xuejing say this, Du Heng’s expression finally relaxed a little. There’s still hope for this girl. He then immediately said, ”Yes, we must treat the kidneys.”

Du Xuejing blinked, confused. ”But Little Uncle, you just said Xiaoya’s liver isn’t good either. Shouldn’t we treat her liver as well?”

Du Heng sighed silently. Du Xuejing asking this question means she’s thinking. As for why she can’t figure it out, it’s because she hasn’t learned that far yet.

”When kidney water is sufficient, there will be fluid in the stomach, which will increase appetite. It will also moisturize the intestines, allowing food in the stomach to move smoothly downward, thus solving the vomiting and Hiccup problems. Furthermore, kidney water nourishes liver wood, calming its dry qi and ultimately nourishing the liver. Therefore, greatly replenishing kidney water addresses four issues at once. Isn’t that better than treating one problem at a time?”

”I see.” Du Xuejing nodded repeatedly, her face showing sudden realization. ”Then, Little Uncle, write a house for Xiaoya.”

Du Heng glared at his niece. ”Come to the Hospital tomorrow, and I’ll write a house for Gu Ya.”

”Oh... alright then.” Seeing Du Heng’s displeased expression, Du Xuejing reluctantly agreed.

Gu Ya quickly said, ”I’ll go to the Hospital first thing in the morning. Thank you, Little Uncle.”

Once again hearing the words ”Little Uncle,” Du Heng’s mouth twitched unnaturally.

Looking at the reluctant Du Xuejing, Du Heng asked, ”Tingting, what do you plan to do this summer vacation?”

Excitement flashed across Du Xuejing’s face, but upon seeing Du Heng’s impassive expression, she quickly restrained herself. ”I’ll accompany Xiaoya to the Hospital first. Once she’s feeling a bit better, I want to go on a trip with her. I’ve already planned the route: starting from Jinzhou and heading north, we’ll first visit the Danxia landform, then the Thousand Buddha Grottoes, and finally reach the ’First and Greatest Pass Under Heaven.’”

Listening to Du Xuejing’s plan, Du Heng coughed lightly. ”It’s a good idea.”

Du Xuejing immediately brightened up. ”Right? That’s what I think too.” She chuckled. ”Don’t worry, Little Uncle, I won’t ask for your support this time. I have enough money saved up for the trip.”

”Very good,” Du Heng smiled again. ”But I don’t think you’ll be able to go.”

Du Xuejing froze, staring blankly at Du Heng. ”Why?”

”Because your exam results aren’t good,” Du Heng answered bluntly. ”If your grades were good, I wouldn’t care what you did during your summer vacation. I wouldn’t stop you; I’d even sponsor you. However, your current results don’t warrant you going off to have fun. As for your summer vacation, I’ve already made plans for you. Do you want to hear them?”
