This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Moreover, due to Du Heng’s rapid development, she realized that resistance offered no benefits. Instead, cooperation could bring the greatest advantages, so she immediately changed her direction.

As a result, she was given the task of department adjustments. This task had consequences: the original Director of the Pediatrics Department was sent to the Provincial Women and Children’s Hospital for studying, while Deputy Director Lv, one of their own, stayed behind to become the Director of the Pediatrics Ward.

However, to her surprise, in just half a month, she received such a ’grand gift.’ Lu Guangying truly felt she had been blind to choose such an incompetent teammate.

One Jin Juan had already caused her downfall. If she hadn’t backed down then and had kept such a person around, the mere thought gave her palpitations.

Now, looking at this group of people, each with a large head and blinking innocent, wide eyes, her anger surged. ”What are you doing standing there like wooden posts? Don’t you have anything to do?”

With Lu Guangying’s furious shout, everyone in the office scattered like startled birds and beasts.

Seeing Deputy Director Lv and Dr. He also intending to leave, Lu Guangying’s face turned green. ”Where do you two think you’re going? Your matter isn’t finished yet. Get back here!”

As Du Heng stepped out of the office, he looked at Li Shuxun, who was following him closely, and couldn’t help but give a wry smile. ”Why are you following me? Go back and attend to your own work.”

Li Shuxun obediently stopped but still asked, ”Senior Brother, are you alright?”

Du Heng almost laughed at the question. ”Of course, I’m fine. What could possibly happen to me? Alright, hurry back to your work.”

After parting with Li Shuxun and the others, Du Heng initially intended to return to his office. However, after what had happened in the Pediatrics Department, he felt he should visit other departments to see how the doctors in his hospital were actually working.

For a long time, he had heard various departments praise their hard work and dedication. He had also seen many department reports. However, he had never truly been on the front lines, except for the Chinese Medicine Department and the Gynecology Department, which had a large number of staff.

However, as he strolled through the departments, he was somewhat disappointed but also, in a way, relieved. There was nothing particularly eye-catching or delightful, but no upsetting incidents had occurred either. Everyone was working according to the rules.

Finally, Du Heng arrived at the Dental Clinic. The Dental Clinic was a very special clinic.

When Director Chen was in office, the Oral Department’s performance hadn’t been very good. It was similar to the Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology Departments, which were rather listless.

But one very different thing about the Oral Department was that there was no space for them in the hospitalization department. They were located in the Outpatient Department, equipped with two consultation rooms and two treatment rooms.

Director Chen had also been troubled by these departments and, having learned a trick from somewhere, planned to subcontract them out, using the premises and equipment as investment for a share of the profits.

Of course, if they were to subcontract, the first choice would naturally be the hospital’s existing directors.

However, after Director Chen expressed this idea, only Director Cai of the Oral Department promised. The other departments did not agree. They were only willing to accept the salary provided by the hospital, unwilling to take risks for greater financial gain.

After Du Heng took office, the Oral Department became one of the top three most profitable departments in the hospital, surpassed only by the Internal Medicine Department and the Gynecology Department.

However, the Oral Department’s greatest advantage was its small number of doctors: including Director Cai, there were only three qualified doctors, six interns, and four nurses.

As a result, their total expenditure was the lowest, so their profit margin was, in turn, the highest.

After Du Heng took office, he considered this model quite good. It could generate revenue without him needing to take responsibility or worry about it. So, he continued to use it.

But no matter what, this department still belonged to the Municipal Maternal and Child Health Hospital and was under the hospital’s name. It wouldn’t do to never visit and see how things were.

Entering the consultation room of the Oral Department, Du Heng saw several interns chatting. They didn’t know Du Heng well. However, seeing that he was also wearing a white gown and looked young, they assumed he was a doctor from the hospital. They merely glanced at him and continued their conversation.

However, a nurse who entered subsequently recognized Du Heng and quickly greeted, ”Hello, Dean.”

This greeting thoroughly frightened the interns.

Regardless of whether the Oral Department was subcontracted or not, it was still a simple matter for the Dean to discipline them.

In an instant, they all stood ramrod straight and greeted respectfully, ”Hello, Dean.”

Du Heng smiled, indicating he didn’t mind their previous behavior. ”You can continue chatting, don’t mind me. Where’s Director Cai?”

The interns didn’t dare to speak, so the nurse who had just come in said, ”The Director is in the next room performing surgery.”

”Surgery?” Du Heng suddenly became interested. He had never seen how an oral cavity surgery was performed. ”In the next room, right? I’ll go have a look. You all carry on with your work.”

Watching Du Heng’s retreating figure, the nurse gently exhaled.

What had happened in the Pediatrics Department had already spread through their nursing group. They knew Du Heng had just lost his temper and publicly berated someone. Therefore, they were aware that Du Heng was in a bad mood.

”If you’re too idle, go read some books or watch some informational videos,” the nurse said, venting the fright she had just experienced onto these interns as soon as Du Heng’s figure disappeared. ”Do you all think you’ve become Directors? The Director is personally performing surgery, and yet none of you went to observe!”
