This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

”Du, do you think you can do it?” As soon as he stepped out of the hospital room, Jin Zan hurriedly asked Du Heng. He suddenly felt that Du Heng might have been right; he might have truly gotten Du Heng into a difficult situation.

At this time, Du Heng’s expression was already very calm. In the short while just past, he had thoroughly considered the entire treatment process. He was confident that he could complete the bone setting quickly.

The current issue was the Patient herself—specifically, whether she could tolerate intense pain as she had during the check-up. If her body’s reaction was too severe, they could only proceed as far as circumstances allowed.

With a smile, Du Heng glanced at Jin Zan. ”If I say I can do something, I can definitely do it. You should be very clear about this. The problem now is, can you handle it on your side?”

”What do you mean?” Hearing Du Heng’s confident answer, Jin Zan relaxed slightly, but he didn’t quite understand Du Heng’s question.

”What do I mean?” Du Heng said in a low voice, ”You are the attending Physician now. Can your Department approve this Patient’s treatment process, especially with an external Doctor like me involved? Can you make the final decision?

If I were merely offering suggestions and letting Doctors from your Hospital handle it, I wouldn’t press the issue. However, based on my intended treatment process and your earlier assessment, I don’t have much confidence in your orthopedics Doctors.

You understand the difficulties of bone setting. The bones are enveloped by muscle fascia. To set them without surgical exposure requires force comparable to carrying cement upstairs.

But you’ve seen the Patient’s condition; she absolutely cannot withstand brute force.

Therefore, my planned treatment, while ensuring sufficient force, must also be as gentle as possible and demands quick, precise execution.

This brings us to the second difficulty: operating in a blind field, do your Doctors possess this capability?

Thirdly, there’s a small bone fragment at the fracture. This requires an exceptionally precise and delicate technique. Can your Doctors manage it?”

As Du Heng and Jin Zan walked forward together, Du Heng continued in a quiet voice, ”Setting aside the risk of secondary injury, the fact that the Patient is pregnant inherently involves certain risks during treatment. Can you make this call?”

Jin Zan brushed his bald head from front to back. ”Haven’t I told you? Strictly speaking, our Hospital currently doesn’t have a single formally qualified bone-setting Doctor. So, those you mentioned? I don’t trust them either. It’s not just me; even the leaders in our Department don’t trust them.”

Du Heng glanced at Jin Zan. ”So, can you make the decision on this matter?”

”Du, you seem a bit unclear about your own standing right now,” Jin Zan said cheerfully.

”What do you mean?”

”Brother, in our Jinzhou Traditional Chinese Medicine Circle right now... no, in the entire medical community, your name carries such weight that if you were to stomp your foot, while it might not cause an earthquake, it would certainly make things tremble.”

Jin Zan looked at Du Heng beside him, a look of slowly dawning pride on his face. ”Look at your current titles, your social influence—who would dare underestimate you?

Consider your accomplishments. Do you think just anyone can casually visit the Capital? Who else can make an appearance at esteemed Hospitals like Hao Pengyou or Hexie Hospital?

What you did a few days ago caused quite a stir online. Anyone who uses the internet and is in the medical field surely knows about it, right?”

Du Heng frowned. ”But those achievements aren’t directly related to orthopedics, are they? Will the leaders of your orthopedics Department agree?”

The smile on Jin Zan’s face widened further. ”Let me put it this way: our Director has wanted to meet you for a long time.”

”Aren’t you exaggerating?”

”I’m not exaggerating at all.” Jin Zan became a bit more serious. ”You remember that whole body divine ointment you created, don’t you? Our Department—our entire orthopedics Department—is now the workplace that is the largest user of your ointment.

Back when our Hospital didn’t stock your ointment, I had Patients buy it themselves. The results were excellent, so I recommended this medicine to all my Patients.

Consequently, my Patients had the quickest discharge times. Compared to before, their overall discharge was three days sooner, and their recovery speed improved by about half a month.

After these results were compared, your medicine was officially adopted by our Department, and everyone agrees it’s highly effective.

Do you know how many new pathogens this rapid healing rate has brought me?

It’s as if, in the time it previously took to treat two Patients, we can now treat three.”

While they were talking, the two of them had returned to the office. After Jin Zan gestured for Du Heng to sit, he continued, ”The external ointment is so effective that it caught our Director’s attention. He wanted to contact you to ask if there’s any decoction medicine that, combined with your external ointment, could help surgical Patients recover even faster and better.

However, you were quite busy some time ago, and then you were away for over ten days, so I had to delay bringing this up.

Now that he hears you’re going to perform a bone setting, our Director will undoubtedly be willing.

Besides, could he afford to be unwilling?

Worst case, the Patient could simply be discharged and go to you at the Municipal Maternal and Child Health Hospital. He’d be powerless to stop it and would only end up needlessly offending you. Don’t you think so?”

While saying this, Jin Zan fetched a pen and paper from his desk and placed them in front of Du Heng. ”Alright, this isn’t something you need to worry about. Just focus on writing out the prescription. I’ll go inform the Director now.”
