This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Jin Zan leaned back, giving Du Heng all the space in front of the computer.

Upon hearing Du Heng’s question, he replied languidly, ”I didn’t lie to you. Given the circumstances, let alone our hospital, even if you scoured all of orthopedics in Jinzhou, I can’t imagine who would dare to deal with this situation and suggest conservative treatment.

So, you’re the only one I could think of. Can you do it?”

Du Heng frowned and studied the computer carefully, clicking his tongue. ”I asked you what caused it. What are you blabbering about?”

”Oh, well, this pregnant woman is a bit heavy, 160 pounds. When she fell, she instinctively propped herself up with her hand and reflexively protected her belly. All her weight fell on her left arm. Then she fell on top of it, adding a little bit of force, and this is the result.”

”Four months, 160 pounds, she is a bit overweight.” Du Heng frowned at the image. ”The computer image isn’t very clear. Do you have the film? I want to see it.”

”The film is with the patient. Why don’t we go to the ward directly? I know you’ll want to not just see the film, but also examine her yourself.”

Du Heng promptly stood up and clapped his hands. ”Alright, let’s go to the ward immediately.”

Jin Zan also laughed, ”That’s the Du Heng I know.”

”Stop flattering me. If it can be treated, I won’t discount the consultation fee and treatment fee by a single cent.”

”Don’t worry. If you really can treat her, not only will we pay you the treatment fee, but the patient’s family will also give you a big Red Envelope.”

”I don’t want that. I’m a doctor with principles, okay?”

Jin Zan casually grabbed a white gown from somewhere nearby and handed it to Du Heng.

”Honey, listen to me. Let’s listen to the doctor and get your arm treated first.” A handsome and mature man was speaking seriously to a chubby woman, his expression earnest. ”The doctor also said if your arm isn’t treated promptly, it will become deformed. That won’t just affect its appearance; it will affect your life.

Listen to me. Let’s have the surgery first to treat your arm.

As for the child, since we managed to conceive this time, surely in half a year or a year from now, we still can.”

The man’s voice was soft and his expression sincere, but the woman in the hospital bed seemed completely unmoved.

When the man finished, she just glanced at him lightly. ”You make it sound easy. Did you not hear what the doctor for the test tube procedure said?

If I lose this child, with my current body condition, the chance of getting pregnant again is less than twenty percent. Do you think I dare take that risk?”

The woman’s one arm was immobile, lying still on the hospital bed, but the pain in her fractured arm had not diminished at all, occasionally causing her face to twitch slightly.

”You know better than anyone how much I’ve suffered for this child. I don’t want to go through that ordeal again, especially without any guarantee of success.”

The woman closed her eyes gently. ”Also, stop bothering me. My opinion is very clear: I want this child. If you speak of not wanting the child again, I’ll jump right off here.”

Hearing the woman’s firm words, the man seemed helpless, but he appeared to be used to her emotional expressions and showed no surprise.

”Honey, think about it. If your arm doesn’t heal properly and becomes deformed, you won’t be able to hold the child in the future. You won’t be able to cook, change the child’s clothes, or change diapers. Won’t you regret it?”

The woman abruptly opened her eyes and glared at her husband. ”Even if I can’t hold the baby, I’ll be happy just to look at it. Besides, my right hand is fine. I can cook, change clothes, and change diapers with one hand.

Furthermore, my arm might get deformed; it’s not like it’s fallen off or vanished.

And are you a corpse? Are you useless for anything but breathing? Can’t you hold the child, cook, or change diapers?

Or do I only need you to provide that little bit of protein?”

This was not a single room, but a standard double room.

It wasn’t just the couple in the room; there was also a girl undergoing traction treatment for her cervical vertebrae, accompanied by her mother.

Hearing such fierce words from the couple, the girl, despite the steel traction device, couldn’t help but look over, her gaze captivated. ”OOH, OOH, OOH, Mom, my neck hurts.”

The mother beside her also quickly refocused on her daughter, helping to adjust her head. However, she couldn’t help but peek at the woman from time to time.

The man fell silent from the tirade, his head bowed, not uttering another word.

His original intention was for his wife’s well-being, but he also didn’t want to be reduced to a mere provider of protein.

Just as the atmosphere grew awkwardly and inexplicably tense, two people walked into the hospital room.

Jin Zan’s bald head allowed the man in the chair to recognize him as his wife’s attending doctor within 0.1 seconds.

Since coming to the hospital at noon that day, in fact, for as long as he could remember, he had never seen a doctor with such a shiny scalp.

The impression was too deep.

”Doctor Jin.” The man hurried to greet him, looking at Jin Zan with hope in his eyes.

The woman on the bed also opened her eyes and said to Jin Zan, ”Doctor Jin, you don’t need to persuade me anymore. I won’t give up on this child.

I won’t take anesthetic either. No matter how much it hurts, I can bear it.”

Jin Zan gently shook his head. ”We respect your choice. We won’t force you into anything, so don’t worry about that.

I’ve found the best orthopedic doctor in all of Jinzhou for you, Director Du Heng. He performed an orthopedic operation on the celebrity Li Qin’s arm, and they are still good friends.

He is also the dean of our Municipal Maternal and Child Health Hospital. He has a significant say regarding your current pregnancy.”

Jin Zan then gestured for Du Heng to step forward. ”If he says conservative treatment is an option, then you’ll just have to bear the pain a bit. He will set your bone, and there will be no need for surgery.

If he says that bone setting won’t offer a complete treatment, then you need to think carefully about whether you can bear the consequences of a deformed arm.”

The woman looked ardently at Du Heng, but a hint of doubt appeared in the man’s eyes.

This Du Heng looked younger than the bald doctor, yet he was called Director. He’d supposedly treated a celebrity and was also the dean of the Municipal Maternal and Child Health Hospital. It all sounded like a con.

Only a con artist would have so many titles at this age.

When Jin Zan finished speaking, the man couldn’t help but ask, ”You are a director?”

Du Heng smiled subtly. ”More accurately, I’m the Deputy Chief Chinese Medicine Doctor.”

”You are a hospital dean?”

”The Dean of the Municipal Maternal and Child Health Hospital, genuine and true,” Du Heng continued to smile, not showing any resentment at the man’s suspicion. ”By the way, you can search for my name online: Du Heng. Du as in Du Fu, and Heng as in balance.”

Without hesitation, the man actually took out his mobile phone and started searching.

However, the moment he typed in Du Heng’s name, his eyes widened.

He genuinely hadn’t expected this Deputy Chief Chinese Medicine Doctor, younger than the bald one, to have so much news coverage.

He clicked to see. Yes, he was indeed the dean of the Municipal Maternal and Child Health Hospital.

He clicked another link. My goodness! He’s an internet celebrity!

No need to look further.

The man was flabbergasted. He stuffed the mobile phone back into his pocket, and with both hands free, he grabbed Du Heng’s hands, his expression utterly excited.

He didn’t care whether Du Heng’s online reputation came from successful orthopedic treatment or not. After all, such a spectacular and popular doctor, having arrived, must be an expert. Moreover, he was introduced by a doctor his wife trusted, so there should be no further issues.

”Director Du, President Du, please, I beg you, help my wife. She has suffered so much for this child. All these years, just taking medicine has nearly destroyed her health,” the man exclaimed, gripping Du Heng’s hands so tightly that Du Heng even felt a bit of pain.

”Doctor Du, if she loses this child, it would be like taking her life.

Please, I beg you, you must save my wife.”
