Emperor’s Domination

”What’s with the change of heart?” Orchidcore asked.

”Haha, people can’t joke around now?” Black Witch Monarch said: ”Desolate Ancestor’s immortal dao belongs to an ancient lineage from time immemorial, it can replace the high heaven and lasts for eternity.”

The four young saints exchanged glances. This man boasted and looked down on Lankavatara Temple, going as far as comparing himself to Desolate Ancestor.

”She created the paths for emperors and desolate gods and a way to reach immortality, the greatest pioneer in Three Immortals. Her dao did not come from an ancient lineage, the same as Moshi and Dingtian’s immortal art.” Princess Chen earnestly responded.

”Child, what do you know? Her immortal art originated from a mythical immortal, the like of which you can’t fathom.” His eyes lit up and commanded respect.

”Impossible.” The group didn’t buy this since all of Three Immortals respected Desolate Ancestor’s for her contribution to cultivation.

Her path started with emperors and desolate gods. Next came primal ancestors and heaven-slayers. The final path was becoming unextinguishable, or immortal.

As for Zhan Sansheng, he was rumored to have been taught by an actual immortal. Desolate Ancestor didn’t have the same history.

”You are not credible given how fast you changed your mind, especially your comment regarding Lankavatara Scripture. You probably do not know its significance.” Monk Zhu shook his head.

”Bah.” Black Witch Monarch sneered: ”Just a bunch of baldies regurgitating the same thing over and over again while not learning a single fart, they will just grow old and die in the temple.”

”The audacity! Do you know Boundless Devil Ancestor reached the dao after listening to the scripture?” The young monk retorted.

”Boundless Devil Ancestor!” The others took a deep breath.

”He came from Lankavatara Temple?” Orchidcore murmured.

”Legend has it he was a rock outside of the temple, becoming invincible after listening to the scripture for so long.” Princess Chen said.

”His era was before Moshi or Desolate Ancestor, the same time as Bodhi Ancestor and Supreme Black Ancestor.” Li Xian elaborated.

”Yes.” Monk Zhu nodded: ”A terrifying war happened back then, different from the ones we know, just that the world changed dramatically. He was born in that era but not a rock outside of Lankavatara but rather, a meteor. He became a supreme existence after one night of listening to the scripture.”

”A supreme overlord?” Mu Hu remarked.

”Possibly.” Monk Zhu said.

”Logically, someone can’t become a supreme overlord in one night, not even Desolate Ancestor or the other immortals.” Orchidcore said.

”Yes, but his cultivation is certainly related to the scripture.” The monk said, albeit without confidence.

Despite this interesting history, no one dared to verify the connection due to Boundless Devil Ancestor’s might. Not even the temple wanted to research this further.

”The baldies just want to gild their reputation. A scripture can make someone a supreme overlord? Why not an immortal as well? If this is true, we would be living in a Buddhist immortal kingdom.” Black Witch Monarch laughed.

The others had no retort since the notion was ridiculous indeed. There would be monks capable of surpassing Desolate Ancestor in that case.

”The founder of the scripture, Lankavatara Buddha, stood on the same level as the great enlightened ones and the saints in the past.” Monk Zhu said.

”Then where is he now? Wasn’t he one of the Decemvirate?” Black Witch Monarch didn’t think much of this.

”...” Monk Zhu had no response.

”Does anyone have an idea?” Princess Chen asked.

”No, but I do have to say Lankavatara Buddha was praised in the same breath as Gao Yang’s group.” Orchidcore said: ”This is why his scripture is considered a supreme treasure by the temple. However, I haven’t heard of anyone truly understanding it.”

”I’m sure the scripture is no match for whatever dao you created.” Li Qiye interjected: ”After all, creating a new dao is a magnificent feat while Lankavatara Buddha merely walked on an established path.”

”You certainly know your stuff, Young Noble.” Black Witch Monarch raised his thumb.

”How can you compete with the rich history of Buddhism?” Princess Chen didn’t buy it.

”Should I test it on this young monk?” Black Witch Monarch glared at Monk Zhu.

”Amitabha, I am not a member of Lankavatara and can’t represent it.” Monk Zhu placed his palms together.

”Not like it matters much if the baldies from that temple are here, they’ll shrink into their shell like turtles.” He laughed in response.

”You shouldn’t be saying this to strangers because if the temple were to catch wind of this, they would imprison you for five centuries.” Princess Chen said kindly.
