The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

A married woman returning to her mother’s home for a short stay is common everywhere, not to mention her family’s elders personally summoned her brother-in-law to fetch her.

So, the sisters Song Ruqian and Ruqi cheerfully returned to the Prime Minister’s Mansion with their families, staying in the same small courtyard as before. A large group of people joyfully came to Chunhui Hall to greet Song Ci.

Song Ci loves bustling scenes, and even more so, children. Seeing her eldest granddaughter’s twins, who are as lovely as carved jade, she couldn’t help but adore them, giving out the prepared gifts, prompting Song Ruqian to flatteringly suggest that she would pay respects to the old lady every day.

Song Ci laughed, ”You guys, while young, should have more children. Later, I’ll leave my treasured items for you all.”

Song Ruqian and the others blushed.

”Go play in the eastern side room; there are soft carpets laid there and many toys prepared. Let the young ones play together, and don’t stay here too long, lest my illness hasn’t improved and they catch it from me.” Song Ci sent away the nanny and maidservants, letting the children be taken away.

Song Ruqian watched the children leave and affectionately sat beside Song Ci, compassionately observing her grandmother’s head full of silver hair. She said, ”Grandmother, you’ve become much thinner. I’ve brought plenty of high-quality medicinal supplements for you to feast on. If it’s not enough, I’ll bring more.”

”Good, you have filial piety.” Song Ci patted her hand, looked at Ruqi who gently stroked her lower abdomen, and said, ”I heard you might be pregnant?”

Song Ruqi nodded, holding back her excitement, and paused before saying, ”Actually, I haven’t seen the doctor for a pulse check, but my menstrual cycle is late like the last pregnancy.”

”Haven’t had a pulse check?” Song Ci instructed Chun Fen, ”Go invite Doctor Lin over.”

Song Ruqian teasingly added, ”How can you be so careless, daring to say you’re pregnant without a pulse check? If... well, being a mother, you should know best in your heart whether you are.”

Song Ci disagreed, believing that some people who desperately want to conceive might imagine symptoms leading to a false pregnancy.

However, she didn’t reveal Ruqi’s thoughts, choosing to wait for Lin Qing to come and check the pulse to confirm.

After being reprimanded by her elder sister, Ruqi felt uneasy. She didn’t dare invite the mansion’s physician at the Duke Mansion, wishing to keep it a secret to avoid any scheming, which is why she returned home for a short stay.

The Madam Song and the sister-in-laws, including Jiang’s family, hurried over after finishing their chores. Their prime concern was to inquire about Ruqi’s condition, listening to her nursemaid, Xin, speaking of her potential pregnancy, they finally calmed down.

When Lin Qing arrived, she checked the pulse personally and inquired about the last menstruation, then smilingly said, ”Indeed, she is pregnant, probably conceived around the end of September. It’s almost two months now. With good care, she’ll be a mother by June or July next year.”

Everyone was filled with joy.

Song Ci, with a smile, said, ”Great, let’s hold a small family feast tonight to celebrate.”

Song Ruqi was overwhelmed with joy, grasping Lin Qing’s hand, too emotional to utter a word, her tears streaming down.

The Madam was also teary-eyed, whereas Song Ruqian, after her moment of joy, wiped her eyes and asked Lin Qing, ”Doctor Lin, is Qi’er’s health okay? Since the pregnancy isn’t stable yet and she was previously injured, does she need to rest in bed?”

”Second Miss is still young. Over the past year, she has taken good care, so her constitution is strong. The pulse for happiness shows vitality, so bed rest isn’t necessary. I’ll prescribe some gentle fetus-preserving medicine to stabilize the pregnancy and careful nurturing will suffice,” Lin Qing said with a gentle smile.
