The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 1059: Chapter 1059: The Protagonist’s Aura Is Off the Charts

Regarding matters of the Heavenly Family, Song Ci didn’t say much. After saying a couple of words, he switched to talking about daily life with the children, making the Empress Dowager laugh.

”Only you can keep a child just like that. If I were to bring one to Cining Palace to raise, there would probably be lots of disputes,” Empress Dowager Wang sighed.

Even as the Empress Dowager, there are many things that are beyond her control.

”You’re being too preoccupied with it. If you feel lonely, you can always bring in a great-grandchild you like. Boys might be inconvenient, but what about the girls?” Song Ci smiled.

Empress Dowager Wang chuckled: ”Even if it’s a girl, they would still act like fighting cocks. I won’t burden myself with such troubles. Besides, Duke Cheng’en also stays in this palace, which is like being raised here.”

”True enough.”

As they were chatting, it was mentioned that the palace banquet was about to begin, and they were invited to proceed.

”Ah Ci, shall we share a palanquin?”

This was an enormous honor and grace.

But Song Ci smiled and declined: ”You know that Imperial Censor What’s-His-Name has already impeached me several times. If we ride together, it’s likely he will accuse me again in court of being audacious and disrespectful.”

”That Censor Zhu is just a troublemaker. Do you really care about him?” Empress Dowager Wang frowned.

Song Ci, smiling brightly: ”The less trouble, the better. I prefer peace and quiet.”

”Very well. Lian Qiao, have another soft sedan chair prepared to carry Ah Ci to the hall,” Empress Dowager Wang said to Song Ci: ”You can’t refuse this, we’re all getting on in years.”

”Rest assured, I wouldn’t want to refuse. Besides, this Imperial Decree Clothes and headgear are weighing my legs down,” Song Ci said quickly.

Kidding aside, wearing the Imperial Decree Clothes is tiring enough. Why refuse this treat, especially with Shangjing getting cold as October approaches, and the wind feels like it cuts your face?

...

In the main hall for the birthday banquet, a hundred tables were set, officials wearing Python Robes matching their ranks, and the ladies in Imperial Decree Clothes - a bustling sight of heads as far as the eye could see.

Of course, Song Ci didn’t appear alongside Empress Dowager Wang. When she reached the hall, she exited the sedan, led by a very handsome young eunuch to her place.

”It’s getting cold, and I appreciate you leading the way for an old lady,” Song Ci said with a smile to the eunuch, then glanced at the nanny.

The nanny, understanding the cue, slipped a wallet into the eunuch’s hand, saying with a smile, ”Our honored Madam rewards you to buy some wine.”

The young eunuch felt both pleased and touched, smiling radiantly as he flattered, ”Even if knives fell from the sky, I’d be willing to guide you and serve you, Madam. You are truly blessed, and I’m blessed by serving you.”

Song Ci smiled and exchanged a few pleasantries.

The young eunuch, bowing as he led the way, whispered: ”If Madam needs to change, avoid Gonghe Hall; the side hall there has a treacherous step.”

Song Ci’s eyes flashed, sharing a glance with the nanny, and she smiled: ”Thank you for the kind reminder, from one old lady to another.”

See, this is the benefit of not opposing the lower-ranking palace staff but instead greeting them with a smile. You’ve gathered some insightful information, a perfect example of the protagonist’s aura!

So, never look down on those below your rank; especially in the palace, these deficient servants can be more troublesome than little devils, yet easier to deal with.

Upon entering the hall, Madam Song arrived with her entourage, supporting Song Ci by the hand, and Song Ci seized the opportunity to offer her some advice.

Madam Song, fathoming the hint, suspected that there might be some drama to witness today.
