The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 1083: Chapter 1083: Prime Minister Song Is Like a Powder Keg Today

Song Zhiqing stood in the cold wind, utterly bewildered and anxious, constantly recalling the times he met Bai Shuilian, as well as the past two years they spent together.

No matter how he thought about it, he couldn’t find anything peculiar about her. But, would the boss act without evidence?

If the boss only acted on guesses, he wouldn’t have gotten to where he is today. He must have discovered something to speak like this, just waiting for substantial evidence.

Could it be that the Bai family is also a so-called spy?

If so...

”Lord Song, why are you still standing here?”

Song Zhiqing shuddered, returning to his senses, only to feel a sheen of cold sweat on his back, chilled to the core by the wind.

He forced a smile and waved at the person approaching, greeting them, and with his mind full of thoughts, headed toward the palace.

At today’s morning court, all the officials noticed Prime Minister Song’s particularly cold demeanor; he was especially difficult to deal with, exceptionally sharp, like a firecracker ready to explode at the slightest touch, without any mercy.

Currently, there is a memorial accusing a Weihe official of buying and selling positions, involving an amount as high as hundreds of thousands of taels, and this person is a protégé of Prime Minister Fan.

Prime Minister Song demanded how to handle it, requesting the Emperor to decree that all involved be exiled three thousand miles away, to purify officialdom.

Although Prime Minister Fan is in mourning, his faction and connections still exist. Someone immediately objected, saying this punishment is too severe; if evidence is conclusive, it should be handled according to the level of corruption.

”Too severe? If we don’t severely crack down on and eliminate such unhealthy trends, but let them off lightly, then anyone would dare to do it again. What place does that leave for countless scholars? If official positions can be bought and sold like commodities, what’s the point of studying hard?” Song Zhiyuan sneered, ”Because he is someone’s protégé, should he escape this calamity? Lord Zhao, even if the Emperor breaks the law, he should be treated the same as a commoner. Besides, this is merely someone’s protégé, even if they’re the Emperor’s protégé, they must bear the price they deserve. Don’t feel outraged; I dare to speak honestly no matter who’s here. I believe that in Prime Minister Fan’s presence, he would only support what I insist on.”

Lord Zhao turned livid, looking at Emperor Chu, this minister is treacherous, daring to insinuate criticism against you, punish him quickly!

Emperor Chu: ”...”

The rebellious minister seems to have taken explosives today, even daring to provoke the dragon throne, not to be trifled with.

”Emperor, I have offended; please forgive me. However, every word I utter is reasonable. I request the Emperor to take action to purify officialdom and restore clarity to the Great Qing’s bureaucracy.” Song Zhiyuan bowed again.

Emperor Chu sternly said: ”Prime Minister Song speaks with reason; such unhealthy trends must not be encouraged and must be severely punished. Commander Wei, take the decree.”

”I am here.” A man in a military general’s uniform stepped forward, kneeling on one knee.

The crowd listened to the Emperor’s decree, clenching their thighs, all shrinking like quails, cautiously looking at Song Zhiyuan, who without hesitation decided to confiscate properties, without giving any face to Prime Minister Fan, even granted by the Emperor, could it be that they are playing a double act?

Furthermore, Prime Minister Fan just entered mourning, and this incident occurred today, as if it was all prearranged, waiting for Prime Minister Fan to go into mourning, and then one by one, they get ready to deal with them?

All at once, people from Prime Minister Fan’s faction felt apprehensive at heart, fearing that the next one to have their family confiscated and exterminated might be their own. Some even thought whether they could switch allegiances, after all, with Prime Minister Fan in mourning, when he returns, he may not be able to retain this position!

In contrast, Prime Minister Song was like a treasured sword, long shrouded in dust, now drawn, revealing its sharp edge.

Who dares to rival him?

With the Emperor as his divine support.
