The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 1062: Chapter 1062: Let Me Show You the Drama

Song Ci looked at Guan Shuyan, who was steadily supporting her by her side, and couldn’t help but smile.

”They said to have you accompany me, but they don’t really see you as a maid. You don’t need to support me. Otherwise, if I walk poorly and fall, you’ll fall with me, and it’ll just tire you out.”

Guan Shuyan grinned, ”You are Brother Song’s grandmother. Though I might be overstepping, I think of you as an elder. Helping you walk a few steps won’t tire me out, as long as you don’t mind my clumsiness.”

”You’re still young; you shouldn’t be doing this kind of work.”

”It’s no big deal. Just let me bask in your good fortune so I can brag a little to my mother when I get back.” Guan Shuyan stuck out her tongue and said, ”Besides, it’s really not tiring. I usually practice martial arts and have a strong body. You can pinch it if you don’t believe me.”

She extended her arm in front of Song Ci, who instinctively pinched it gently through the fabric, feeling the firm muscles, and laughed, ”You’re quite solid. I didn’t expect a young girl like you to practice martial arts.”

”When I was a child, I wasn’t very healthy and often sick. Later, my mother hired a female martial arts teacher to teach me boxing. Though it only seemed like fancy moves, it really improved my health.”

Song Ci observed the healthy flush on her face and joked, ”Your mother thinks ahead. Though practicing martial arts is tough, it does have its benefits. It’s indeed good for a woman, especially when it comes to later in life... ahem.”

Guan Shuyan caught a hint of underlying meaning, blushed slightly, glanced around, and said, ”Madam, this isn’t the way to Gonghe Hall, is it?”

”We’re not going to Gonghe Hall. We’re heading to Shunqing Palace. Sitting for too long at the palace banquet makes my back ache. Walking around helps digest the food.” Song Ci chuckled, ”Miss Guan Liu wouldn’t think me troublesome, would you?”

Guan Shuyan quickly said, ”Of course not. Actually, I don’t really like being inside either. Madam, please don’t call me Miss Guan Liu. My parents and siblings call me Liu Niang, so you may as well.”

”Alright, then I’ll be presumptuous and call you Liu Niang.”

”Ah.”

The old and the young exchanged smiles, which held a unique significance to those who passed by.

...

Instead of going to Gonghe Hall, Song Ci went to a hall not too far from it, standing at the corridor just to the point where she could see the location of the western hall stairs as mentioned by the eunuch, witnessing quite a spectacle.

Hmm, clumsy and melodramatic, targeting Miss Wen. And the ones orchestrating it? Consort Fan and Prince Zhou?

That’s impressive, mother and son scheming together.

”Ah.” Guan Shuyan widened her eyes, covering her involuntary gasp, and instinctively looked at Song Ci.

Song Ci also glanced back at her, eyes sparkling as she grinned, ”Sometimes, one should really be cautious when in unfamiliar territory. Carelessly, you might step into trouble. Look, in this palace, some places are prone to problems due to years of neglect.”

It’s so illogical! In the Imperial Palace, there are actually wooden steps? Not laying golden or jade tiles seems unworthy of the place!

Guan Shuyan’s eyes flickered, a slight chill in her heart. Born in the Duke Mansion, she wasn’t naive; she understood the implications. The scene just now, if not a scheme, who would believe?

If she had been walking on those steps, accidentally falling and being caught by a strange man, would it have been her in that situation?

Goosebumps covered Guan Shuyan’s arms, with a tinge of fright. Watching the flustered and blushing Miss Wen and the faux-awkward Prince Zhou, she was lost in thought.

However, what puzzled her more was the sense that Madam Song seemed to have anticipated this and brought her along to watch the drama?
