The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 1055: Chapter 1055: Signs of Alzheimer’s Disease

According to Nanny’s plan, it was best to keep Song Ci in the dark about her health condition. But who was Song Ci? She studied acting, so no matter how well they could hide it, those micro-expressions still slipped through.

Song Ci was well aware of the cunning nature of doctors: if it’s a serious illness, they’ll withhold the truth as much as possible, preferring to keep the patient in the dark and scare them half to death.

In fact, Song Ci wanted to cooperate with their act, but as an old person, she just couldn’t manage it!

”Don’t hide the bad news from me; whether you stretch your neck or shrink it, it’s still a knife. If you keep it from me, it’ll actually be disadvantageous for my planning.” Song Ci looked at Lin Qing and said, ”I kind of know my body’s situation already. Just tell me directly; if things are really not great, at least I can make early arrangements.”

Lin Qing was used to the cycle of birth, old age, illness, and death, so she managed to stay relatively calm. But when Nanny heard those words, her nose tingled, her eyes reddened, and she couldn’t help but turn away, signaling to Nan Shan to guard the door.

Nan Shan obediently stood at the door, shooed away the maids approaching the pavilion, but perked up her ears to listen in.

Lin Qing laughed and said, ”You needn’t be so pessimistic. It’s not actually a huge problem. It’s fine for you to know; it’s good that you are aware of it yourself, so you won’t worry too much about trivial matters and tire yourself out for nothing.”

She then explained the diagnosis, covering pulse, observation, inquiry, and examination, repeating the words she told Nanny, all while keeping an eye on Song Ci’s expression.

Song Ci’s face was exceedingly calm, though inside, she was panicking immensely.

Good grief, she really was showing signs of dementia!

”Madam?”

Song Ci let out an ”ah” and said, ”So that’s how it is. A little dementia, not too bad, I suppose. Even if I forget everything, everyone in this house will take good care of me. I’ll just wait to return to innocence.”

Nanny’s tears fell uncontrollably.

”Look at you, how come you can’t keep calm? This isn’t a big deal. It’s normal for old people to be forgetful. If it were a poor peasant family, a demented elder might suffer some hardship since their children might be too busy making a living to care for them. But here, I definitely won’t go through that suffering. Even if I lose control, no one would know. At best, I’d be like that little boy, just an old baby who knows nothing.” Song Ci smiled and comforted Nanny.

Nanny cried, then smiled teasingly, ”You’ve still got your sense of humor, unlike someone who was just nervous.”

Song Ci laughed awkwardly and then said to Lin Qing, ”You’re right; my body is actually a mess inside, not entirely falling apart, but definitely full of issues, all because of suffering when I was young. Exercising in recent years has helped a little, but no matter how much I exercise, time takes its toll. Some illnesses can be treated, but old ones have no cure.”

Alright then, now it was Lin Qing’s turn to feel emotional, her eyes reddening.

”Oh my, how come everyone is more emotional than I am? Don’t make such faces. I know some elderly, who are healthy in body, but simply become demented and can’t recognize anyone, naturally passing away. Ah Qing, I’m not asking much. We don’t need a cure for this old illness, but maybe daily acupuncture, along with some medicinal diets, could slow my aging a little. Even if I end up demented, let it slow down a bit. I still can’t let go of the people in this house, and that little boy is still young. I can’t just forget everything.”
