The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 1070: Chapter 1070: Good News for the Shen Family

Jiang Shi didn’t dare to confront her mother-in-law and tactfully changed the topic with a smile, mentioning that she visited a few shops recently and noticed many unfamiliar ladies and young women.

Madam Song said, ”Perhaps they came with their family members.” She lowered her voice and added, ”It’s winter, and the elderly Madam Fan is in critical condition. A few days ago, they even dressed her in her burial clothes.”

Song Ci was surprised: ”But there’s been no funeral announcement.”

”She pulled through again, but it looks like she won’t last much longer. Prime Minister Fan’s students have already come to the capital from various places, probably to show their respect during this critical time there for their teacher’s grandmother.” Madam Song sighed and said, ”The Prime Minister has mentioned a few times that he will wait for the right moment; otherwise, he wouldn’t be too busy to even visit his mother.”

With the elderly Madam Fan critical, Prime Minister Fan, as her son, could only frequently take leave to be by her bedside.

”He’s busy with official duties, so don’t let him worry about me. I have plenty of people to care for me. But as for you, now that winter is here, take good care of your husband. Even if you can’t help with government matters, make sure daily life and meals are well looked after,” Song Ci instructed.

Madam Song quickly responded, ”Of course. The small kitchen on my side never stops, and every day there’s a broth made with cordyceps and lean meat, or it’s brewed as a drink. If Prime Minister doesn’t come home, someone always brings it to the council hall.”

Song Ci nodded, ”Make sure to take good care of the advisors at the council hall as well. They’re working for the Song Family, and what should be given to them cannot be stingy, as we should not chill the hearts of our subordinates.”

Madam Song and Jiang Shi agreed, echoing like chorus members.

Song Ci asked about Lu Shi and why she hadn’t come.

”I heard Aunt Shen isn’t feeling well, and the family doctor is being called,” Jiang Shi said with a smile. Noticing the curtain swaying, she exclaimed, ”Speak of Cao Cao, and Cao Cao arrives. Isn’t that our third sister-in-law coming?”

Lu Shi entered and greeted Song Ci with a bow.

Seeing her face carrying a smile that seemed somewhat forced, the others couldn’t help but speculate silently.

”Sister-in-law, you’re smiling; is there some good news?” Jiang Shi, pretending not to notice, asked with a smile.

Lu Shi sat down and said to Song Ci, ”There is good news, a happy event indeed, for mother to know: Shen has been diagnosed as pregnant, over a month along now. Next June, you’ll have another grandson.”

Everyone was taken aback.

No wonder there was a forced smile; it turns out the third branch of the family will have another addition.

Song Ci was the first to react, smiling, ”Shen is indeed fortunate, joining the household for just half a year and already bringing such joyous news.”

The smile on Lu Shi’s face almost faltered, but she had to agree, ”Yes, I said she is fortunate too.”

Song Ci then said, ”Since she’s expecting, she should take good care of her pregnancy. As the Lady, you should pay more attention. Although the third branch has two sons, Xiao Wu is... with only Zhou’er, without a brother to support him, it’s a bit thin. If Shen’s child is a boy, he can later support Zhou’er; if it’s a girl, she could marry into a good family. As the main mother, you know what to do without needing me to teach you.”

Lu Shi felt bitterness in her mouth but continued smiling, ”Mother, don’t worry. I know what to do. I’ve already had someone report the news to my husband and have him spend more time with her.”

Song Ci wasn’t concerned about these matters, only instructing Madam Song to increase Shen’s living expenses by twenty percent, since she’s pregnant.

Lu Shi held her teacup with a smile, but her heart was filled with bitterness.
