Our Family Has Fallen

Chapter 1318: Chapter 717: Battle Between Monsters

When that madman, riddled with bullets, fell to the ground, blood spread, staining the ground red.

His hand wanted to point at something, but ultimately lacked the strength to lift, leaving only his chest heaving like a broken bellows as he coughed up bloody froth.

The crowd thought the matter would come to an end as he fell.

But the issue was that what had lost control was the Supernatural Power, and the human shell was merely a vessel, or could even be said to be a cage.

More importantly, the black veil that covered the sky also expanded a domain of some New God, and the corruption of flesh and blood more easily broke through the boundaries of reality.

”Danger, leave here, do not destroy the scene.”

”Are there any injured? Quickly send them to the hospital.”

”...”

At this time, lights gathered from other directions, as more and more police were drawn by the gunfire, quickly moving according to protocol to disperse the surrounding crowd, only to see countless bodies already lying on the ground.

Some were just unconscious, while others showed no response at all, having become corpses whose lives were taken by Sorcery.

Due to their police training, their instinct was to protect the scene and treat the injured, lacking the military habit of shooting cultists again to ensure death.

Or perhaps, in most people’s understanding, wouldn’t someone shot eight times be dead by now?

Until that ”corpse” stood up again in the dim light, catching the attention of the police, they raised their torches and discovered the horrifying scene.

What stood up was not human but a grotesque monstrosity of twisted flesh, covered with countless blinking black eyes as if peering at something.

However, this alone was not enough to strike fear into everyone. The truly insidious aspect was the Spiritual Essence pollution radiating from the monster as its origin, persistently assaulting everyone’s will.

The monsters born out of loss of control due to pollution of Spiritual Essence among the Transcendents are called [Heretic], so what should one call a creature with corrupted flesh and polluted soul?

No one knew, as the newly trained police officers were educated in public order management and had never seen such a scene, standing frozen at the spot, while the flickering torchlight seemed to announce the anxiety and terror filling these people’s emotions.

For ordinary people, facing this was simply synonymous with despair, but the initiative was not in their hands.

Because the next second, that monster moved!

”Ah!”

A scream echoed from the darkness, from a police officer who collapsed instantly due to being too close and tried to flee, but the monster kindly stopped him from becoming a deserter, as just locking eyes with him killed him and his flesh underwent various degrees of mutation.

If there were an experienced Transcendent present, they would know that normally, a Heretic born from Spiritual Essence out of control would eventually have their body collapse, as it couldn’t bear the ever-growing power, and their movements would be slow, with their actions driven by the Supernatural Power.

But the absurdity lay in that the corruption of the flesh made up for this by granting the monster a stronger body that could withstand greater power without collapsing, endowing it with even more formidable strength.

Combining the polluting aura of a Heretic and the flesh corruption of a cultist, serving with both powers, could their fortune be small?

What would happen if such a monster were unleashed in Hamlet?

”Go call for help!”

”Fire!”

There was no time for anything else now, upon seeing a comrade killed by the monster, they immediately fired at the creature, but the damage inflicted by the bullets was akin to a tickle, not only failing to stop it but instead infuriating it.

But those officers knew they had to hold it here; otherwise, letting the monster run rampant in the streets would be a massacre. ℯℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

”Beep beep beep!”

”Evacuate! Quickly leave here.”

”Ah!”

A sharp whistle pierced the air, intermingled with gunfire, tearing through the darkness, with police reinforcements continuously arriving from other places.

The police were like moths rushing towards flames, constantly scorched by the intense heat, yet still flying towards the fire.

They were the keepers of order in Hamlet, they were the loyal people of the Lord, and they bore the honor of the police.

Undoubtedly, the negative effects of the darkness became increasingly apparent, with burning torches charging into the darkness, but in an instant, falling to the ground and gradually extinguishing.

But more and more torches also highlighted the deeper darkness, with the monster’s twisted figure growing stronger under the firelight.

The fear woven from countless screams enveloped everyone, not everyone could withstand that immense pressure, and even the police began to go insane, with some abandoning everything and turning to flee.

Yet, there were those who chose to stand and stop the monster; they had to buy more time for everyone else, even at the cost of death...

But the monster wouldn’t just stand there waiting, and indiscriminate slaughter was directed at those retreating around.

”For Hamlet!”

A police officer shouted, standing before the ordinary people to face the terrifying monster, only to lose all courage when caught in the gaze of the countless eyes, not to mention the indescribably evil form of the monster.

He wanted to turn and run, but thinking of the countless ordinary people behind him, he steeled his expression and raised his torch defiantly.

However, at that moment, he saw a shadow cast by the torchlight swing a weapon at the monster.

He thought he’d gone mad, but indeed, an iron pickaxe was driven into the monster’s back, capturing its attention and allowing him to survive.
