Our Family Has Fallen

Chapter 1315: Chapter 715: Escape from Danger and Countermeasures (Part 2)

Until those who had retreated returned to the town, it immediately caused cheers from the soldiers and also piqued the curiosity of the adventurers.

They were eager to know more information, but unfortunately, no one could tell them.

Then they discovered something.

”Look! Isn’t that the Scorpion Mercenary Group? They actually made it back.”

”Oh, the Holy Light’s protection, Brother Martin is also alive.”

”That’s the legion, how are they with those Hamlet people.”

Those uneasy adventurers were attracted by this situation, because the situation was changing too fast at that time, most adventurers who could venture deep into the ruins were likely to face death.

But they didn’t expect to see them here, and they were standing together with Hamlet, the Church, and the legion people.

Reynard and his group had no intention of restricting the adventurers; they went about their business after entering the town.

Returning to the square, one could see soldiers holding torches, giving them a mysterious sense of security.

Previously, most of these people didn’t quite like Hamlet’s rules, because being able to venture deep into the ruins indicated their strength surpassed that of ordinary people, they believed they should enjoy some privileges. Unfortunately, none of that mattered here, even fights were fined.

”I just want to have a drink right now.”

The tavern was right next to the square, and one person going up sparked a lot of people to do the same, because they needed alcohol’s comfort to wake up from that nightmare.

”Bring the wine! No more of that damn beer, I want the strongest!”

Those people shouted and yelled like mad, until they gulped down strong liquor, the sensation of the alcohol proving they were still alive, and it was only after numbing their tense nerves that they gradually calmed down.

However, their condition was poor, and the numbing effect of alcohol couldn’t change the fact that many had lost companions; some mercenary groups were left with only one or two survivors.

As mentioned earlier, the fact that they could enter the frontline indicated their strength, but now everything was destroyed...

The news of these people returning spread quickly, and other adventurers soon swarmed in, filling the tavern with hundreds of people, surrounding them with various questions.

Most importantly, what exactly happened deep inside the ruins, and how did they escape?

Regarding these topics, some of the adventurers who escaped barely held their tongues, choosing to drink in silence.

Because they also didn’t know what actually happened, but that thrilling escape needed to be released.

”You wouldn’t know, at that time...”

In contrast to those adventurers, the Hamlet people had corresponding arrangements; the cavalry and honor guards were arranged to rest, but it wasn’t a vacation because they needed to recover quickly to prepare for battles that could arise under that dark veil.

Because the unstable situation ahead required more strength, just as Brother Martin decided to assist the honor guard, the Church duo, Alviss and the legion, also received Hamlet’s goodwill, being placed in better locations without having to squeeze with the adventurers, helping them recover.

And part of Hamlet’s top management started a meeting, as they needed to find out where the problem lay in this matter.

Damn, what exactly happened to Hamlet?

”That mage just now was Alviss, a backup the Lord arranged, we rushed over upon receiving the message...”

Grendel led the explanation of why she and Alviss appeared here.

Lance took Baldwin, a combat power, but he wouldn’t be unprepared, while preparing to recall Reynard, he also reached out to Alviss, exchanging for a chance at intervention, also offsetting previous offenses.

That terrifying dark veil was too much, when the message reached him, Grendel knew the front line needed more help, so she used the mage’s power to teleport over, completing the last part of the reception plan with Alhazred.

Three powerful spellcasters forcibly rescued the besieged people, which is the charm of supernatural power.

But the current situation is not optimistic, many problems confuse them.

”We don’t know the exact situation either, back then...”

Each narrated their squad’s actions, generally confirming that the arrival of the dark veil was too sudden, they were all carrying out their tasks without triggering anything.

”Now we can speculate that the mystery of falling into darkness this time might be a continuation of the cataclysm, it might be the Lord’s mission encountering trouble, or it might be the Taboo Legion triggering something.”

Compared to others, Grendel knew more. She had already guessed in her mind that the red mist only had one source, and that was the dungeon.

The unusual darkness might have been caused by the removal of a seal left by the Church, or perhaps Lance encountered trouble, hence causing this situation.

She worries about Lance’s safety but also knows the dungeon cuts off the Messenger’s power.

However, compared to these chaos, stabilizing the situation is more important. Grendel is very clear she’s just patching things up, holding out until the Lord returns.

”Now the whole of Hamlet is shrouded in darkness, sunk into extreme darkness, those adventurers gathered for the ruins lost their target, it’s likely to cause chaos.”

Adventurers are not some kind-hearted people, on the contrary, most of them don’t believe in good or evil, they’re like hyenas on the wilderness, chasing wealth and power.

Lance previously could suppress them because he held a gun to their heads, and controlled the right to open the ruins, like a leash around their necks.

But later, he also opened the ruins, and only those million skeletons could consume their energy.

It looks as though Hamlet tightly held that leash, but once this hyena can’t be satiated, it could bite back.

”Who says you can’t go in just because it’s extreme darkness? Although those skeletons have become active, the rats drinking the red mist have gone mad, but they’re not unbeatable. In fact, didn’t we fight our way out?”

”What do you mean?”

”Let those adventurers continue exploring the ruins, even if there are more skeletons. But once dispersed on the outskirts, the density of skeletons decreases, in reality, the threat isn’t that great.”

”But those adventurers aren’t fools, what reason do they have to choose such a risk?”

”The Taboo Legion, start with the rumors about them. When those adventurers hear that the phenomenon is due to the power released from the ancient empire’s divine artifact being opened, no one would be able to resist.”

Exactly!

Everyone reacted at this, previously the legion appeared, and various rumors sprang up inexplicably. The most outrageous was linking Hamlet’s heritage with that of the ancient empire treasures.

It was said that Hamlet back then prospered because of the treasures of the ancient empire, all now buried in the ruins. Once obtained, they would be the next empire’s ruler.

The phenomenon now appeared precisely validates that rumor, only such powerful forces could guard the treasures of the ancient empire, likewise, such forces could mesmerize those people.

The wealth and power represented by treasures and divine artifacts could not be refused by anyone, no one!

It can be imagined that regardless of truth or falsehood, adventurers would continue to flock to the ruins, hoping they would be the lucky one.

These words made everyone understand something, and they all spoke up to start completing the plan.

”But it can’t be spread out simply, otherwise those hyenas could smell the danger, they must believe it on their own.”

”We can pretend to block this news, then mobilize the army to march on the ruins, this way we can kill those abominations, dispel their fear, and also pique their curiosity. After all, before we only trained at the outskirts, without any intent to capture the ruins.”

”That could work, and we also need to encourage those people to leave, and even appear to be urgent.”

They plotted in that room, trying to turn this danger into an opportunity.

But did they miss something?

The range shrouded by the dark veil wasn’t just the ruins...
