Our Family Has Fallen

Chapter 1313: Chapter 714: I Am the Sun_2

However, the black mist and blood mist still obscured part of the light, those in the front of the rodent swarm became frightened, but those in the back did not know what happened, they mercilessly tore apart and devoured their fallen companions, then surged forward.

Reynard’s explosive power could only delay them slightly, was there truly no hope this time...?

Brother Martin, who was riding on the carriage, suddenly seemed to sense something, raising his head abruptly to look towards the sky above the rodent swarm...

In the midst of the chaotic battle below, it seemed that no one noticed two figures had appeared on the top level of a nearby building.

One of them, with white hair and beard, wearing a mage robe, was none other than the Legendary Mage Alviss, who had been reprimanded by Lance before.

But why was he here?

And the person next to him was actually Alhazred, how did these two end up together? And when did they arrive here?

In fact, Alviss had been here for some time, and rarely was he moved by events at his level. However, there was no doubt the scene unfolding before him was quite shocking.

The people of Hamlet were truly willing to go to any lengths to save their companions.

The leader actually stepped forward to cover the retreat of the soldiers, and such a reckless action still gained the support of others.

He could feel that those who stayed behind were very powerful, not to mention the Candlelight Priest and the legion; he had heard of these two recently, but they chose to step forward.

Yet for the rodent swarm, it was a suicide mission, the only effect being possibly buying some time, to truly break the deadlock required...

Alviss couldn’t help but turn his head to look at Alhazred beside him, who was holding the Skull Candleholder, eyes closed in spellcasting.

Being a spellcaster himself, he knew well the taboo of being disturbed, thus he remained silent, but he could feel the increasingly terrifying power emanating from the scholar.

At that moment, Reynard broke through below, even he could feel the powerful energy from that blinding light.

Unfortunately, it merely temporarily stemmed the massive rodent swarm, which surged again in the blink of an eye.

Could a champion breakthrough in battle along with a group of skilled fighters really be buried by those rats?

Now even he couldn’t resist the urge to act, except Reynard’s explosive power shattered the spatial reality, finally giving Alhazred his opening.

He had been muttering unintelligible incantations, until now he suddenly opened his eyes, the Skull Candleholder left his hand, suspending in midair, the candle flame on it swelled violently.

But Alviss could feel Alhazred’s power had already delved into the astral plane, drawing something remarkable.

It’s here!

He couldn’t help but glance back down, the previously dim sky was torn open with an exaggerated rift, and through it a swift meteor streaked and fell among the surging rodent swarm.

Having hurriedly cast a spell to obliterate the Limping Walker in the past, its power now, after ample preparation, was exponentially greater.

Sea of Fire Galaxy!

The meteor easily smashed through the rodent swarm upon impact, landing on the road paved with bones, creating a deep pit, the immense roar causing the earth to tremble, its exaggerated effect far surpassing that of a bomb.

The rodent swarm was instantly cleaved, like a surging ”river” interrupted into two halves, yet this wasn’t the most terrifying part.

The truly dreadful aspect was the dark flames formed by the power of the void, scattering alongside the strike, this was not burning in the physical sense, but a power, a curse from the void.

Touching it even slightly would cause it to spread over the body, incinerating vital energy, leaving behind a mummified corpse, perhaps some could suppress or even disperse the curse.

Sadly, they were just mice driven by bizarre energy, no matter how frantic, their individual strength was too feeble, they couldn’t struggle at all, only releasing anguished screeches, frantically scurrying, igniting more mice in the process.

The black flames, fueled by life itself, erupted, spreading like a plague within the rodent swarm almost instantly.

The scene was utterly terrifying, even Reynard and others were momentarily stunned.

There were more experts!

Who performed this spell?

At this time, those two hiding in a nearby building suddenly appeared among the team, only Alviss could have such an ability.

Whether or not he was formidable in combat was another matter, but his escape expertise was exceptional, his teleportation spells were practiced to perfection.

”Enough talk, we need to leave, if contaminated I can’t help.”

Saying so, Alviss, quite wary of the rapidly spreading dark flames, struck his magic wand to the ground, a light ring appeared beneath him, ”Quickly step inside, don’t resist what’s coming.”

Though others weren’t aware of the situation, seeing Alhazred follow suit seemed to understand, quickly stepping up, squeezing in the space.

After all, their lives were the Lord’s currency, things not to be casually abandoned, meant for greater use.

As a flash of light passed, only an empty ground was left behind, soon breached by mouse subjects engulfed in dark flames.

When Reynard and the rest returned to their senses, they realized they had appeared behind the main party.

Such an amazing technique left most of them baffled, yet the greater astonishment belonged to the others in the main group.

They too had noticed the exaggerated commotion behind, but never expected the rear guards to suddenly return.

”Get the two onboard, keep moving, let’s leave here first then discuss!” Reynard advised without hesitation, noting the strained condition of the two spellcasters.

Instant transporting so many, even for a Legendary Mage like Alviss, was somewhat burdensome, otherwise why not just send them back to the town directly?

Alhazred, after finishing his spell, retrieved the Skull Candleholder, then switched to holding [Purification Coral], entering meditation.

It’s evident that the techniques just deployed couldn’t be repeated again shortly; they had to rely on their own strength.

The good news was they had breached the perimeter of the relic site, and the density of skeletons had significantly reduced, cavalry wielding sabers could clear them without explosives, increasing the team’s speed.

But they dared not slacken the least, for behind them still gathered relentless skeletons, along with those ceaseless rodents.

After all, Alhazred had struck the middle of the swarm to avoid collateral damage, the frontrunners naturally disconnected the spread of dark flames, though numbers had lessened substantially, they were still terrifying.

Nobody dared relax, they finally dashed out of the range of the relic, surrounding buildings sparse, feet now stepping on wild terrain.

The skeletons were left behind, none were in the front, only cleared ground awaited.

Yet standing at the boundary of relic and wild was a figure blocking their path, upon approach revealed as a green-haired woman, wielding a uniquely designed magic wand, standing conspicuously.

The people of Hamlet naturally recognized Grendel, immediately slowing their pace.

Seeing Grendel hadn’t any intentions of leaving, they gradually gathered behind her, once again facing the pursuing enemies head-on, of course adjusting, gasping heavily.

As for those adventurers, almost out of breath, had no intention of pausing, rather continued towards the town, hoping the ones behind would hold them off.

Martin, having been on the carriage, had no choice but to stay, as did the legion, seemingly with no intention of leaving either.

Yet Grendel wasn’t bothered by this, her usually gentle expression grown cold, bearing unmistakable fury.

Originally aggrieved over the matter with Lance, now the relic prompted further misfortune, ruining major plans, so were they prepared to endure nature’s wrath?
