Our Family Has Fallen

Chapter 1308: Chapter 712: The Rendezvous

It’s impossible not to notice such a large-scale team movement, but Balistan and the others immediately realized their disorganized situation.

This scenario was deeply familiar to him, and the painful lesson of failure due to a lack of proper command made it unbearable for him to witness such chaos.

”Oh, damn it! You guys look as scattered as Mrs. Mary’s apple pie next door; you don’t even need those skeletons, you’re falling apart on your own.

Quick! If you want to get out alive, you have to listen to me, concentrate your strength...”

Balistan took over the command and quickly made some adjustments, indeed making the team configuration more reasonable.

Earlier during the advance, the Honor Guard had rescued many people, even if it was just pulling them away, in such situations, they were saviors, so they were willing to follow commands in the face of disaster.

The attackers should go forward, while those with armor should cover the rear; the most dangerous part isn’t the front path-breakers but the rear tail, which can easily fall behind and get dragged into the skeletons.

Meanwhile, whether in front or at the back, human stamina is limited, and substitutions must be made; the outer and inner circles need to rotate, rather than previously mindlessly squeezing in, pushing others out.

Balistan split up the adventurers and actively led a part of the full-armor Honor Guard to stay at the back, earning the respect of those adventurers.

In reality, Dismas probably guessed that Balistan chose this because he felt those adventurers couldn’t complete the mission.

However, at this moment, it’s not the time to care about such things, even he had to swing that hammer everyone had in hand to break the reaching skeleton claws.

Effective command improved the team’s chaos and also allowed it to unleash greater strength; all this was well, although it was unclear how long it had been dark, but they at least made a reaction.

Unfortunately, some things were beyond their control, like Lance’s advancement speed in the dungeon below.

When the second Iron Crown altar was activated by the Hands of Praise, an even more terrifying aura was released simultaneously.

A thin blood mist spread from nowhere, beginning to affect everything around.

Making the already dim environment even more blurred; human fear lies in the unknown, when darkness and blood mist enshroud, I’m afraid the pressure alone could lead these adventurers to collapse.

More troublesome is that they are now walking in the streets, using buildings to divide those skeletons, reducing the pressure faced by the team, but now it’s not feasible.

Because the blood mist would block that retreat signal, sever their communication with the outside world, and lose the reference for their target action, getting lost in the ruins would be a scary thing.

Probably Lance below didn’t expect his fast-paced advancement would cause a crisis above.

”Quick! We must get back to the main road before the complete obstruction, can’t delay anymore.”

”We need to speed up unless you want to die here and become skeletons.”

Compared to the Honor Guard fiercely advancing, those adventurers couldn’t help but fall into fear.

”Damn it, where’s the promised retreat point? Are you all deceiving us?”

”No, I don’t want to die here.”

”Has Holy Light abandoned us too...”

The Church duo also went through brutal battles, they were not panicked, still steadily executing divine arts, under chained lightning strikes, the skeletons fell apart one by one.

But they couldn’t help hearing the adventurers wailing here, Martin’s face turned grim.

”What do you mean by saying that? Don’t drag Holy Light into this.”

Really tired of these fragile guys, how did they survive the adventures?

In such a situation, Martin also realized it was no longer possible to play small, regardless of consumption, he unhesitatingly utilized more powerful divine arts.

The flames on the powerful magic wand named [Martyr’s Halo] expanded a bit, sweeping Holy Light over those skeletons.

But only Martin himself felt something was wrong; was his power suppressed? Or did those skeletons become stronger?

Previously, they directly ignited, but now it’s difficult to even repel.

Initially wanted to show off, unexpectedly revealed a major flaw.

But at present, no one cared about this, the reputation built by the Church over years played its part, that light still brought a faint glimmer of hope, inspiring those adventurers.

”What was that commotion?”

Standing at the back, Balistan swung his shield to swipe away a skeleton, then smashed another one’s head with the Morningstar Hammer.

However, he noticed something peculiar, just as he said those words, a stir emerged within the thin blood mist, until something suddenly rushed out.

What everyone didn’t foresee was the long-lost legion abruptly appearing.

But right now, the legion could hardly boast the initial majestic and imposing air; their equipment was damaged at various degrees, and nobody knew what they had gone through.

But Balistan understood that no matter the condition, the legion’s powerful strength would be everyone’s chance to escape.

”This way!”

Balistan roared like a beast to get attention in the chaotic situation.

And the legion indeed responded and approached them, seems they too noticed the retreat signal and were attracted over.

The legion’s addition undoubtedly significantly enhanced the team’s power because even the damaged legion kept a high state, no fearsome complaints, nor fatigue.
