Beneath the Red Dragon

”Heh, did you think I was joking with you?”

Red Dragon’s spike-covered cheeks revealed a strange savagery, his forest-white fangs gleamed coldly, and those crimson pupils contained no desire whatsoever, filled with complete rationality and indifference.

”Fafnir, I appointed you to manage the Golden City not because of your physique and beauty, but because of your intelligence that’s just a tad above a monster’s. Now it seems your wisdom is only slightly better than a monster’s.”

Karon’s gaze was unwavering, looking down at the face-changing Fafnir, the Giant Demon feeling like prey being stared at by a predator on the grasslands, a chill rising from the tailbone up to the top of his head.

”Next time you use such cheap tricks again, unless it’s something important, I will truly devour you, Fafnir. I hope you come to ask for rewards, not trying to influence me.”

”To hope to achieve some purpose by using one’s beauty and body,”

Karon’s pupils grew brighter, flames faintly flickering in his eyes, his Dragon Power pressing down, causing Fafnir, who was incredibly strong in spiritual power, to turn pale.

If it weren’t for Fafnir providing him the Power of Heart Energy, and diligently managing the Golden City for the Dragon Group, he’d have sent this Giant Demon back to the slave camp long ago, adding value to his and the Dragon Group’s castle.

He’s a Red Dragon; if he has such desires, he surely wouldn’t lack beauty.

The Green Dragon Antajena alone, though her dragon form isn’t aesthetically pleasing in the eyes of a Red Dragon, he can transform Antajena into an Elf, whose beauty doesn’t lag much behind a Giant Demon.

Even if his taste is a bit more unique, he can even summon a Succubus from the Abyssal Hell using magic knowledge learned from those mages.

Although Karon knows the allure brought by his appearance and strength, his ever-awake will has sharply noticed Fafnir’s genuine intention wrapped with some deliberate flattery and submission, surely hiding other motives behind it.

”My master, King of the Dragon Group,” Fafnir knelt down, her voluptuous and full body swaying like a delicate flower in the wind.

Fafnir trembled and said, ”Your gaze is like a torch piercing through darkness. My thoughts can’t hide from you. I came because I’ve reached adulthood, pushed by the bloodline talent from the ancient demigod, Dikalytes the Three-headed Sea Demon, driving me to find a strong being to bear my bloodline talent.”

”The bloodline talent of the ancient demigod, Dikalytes the Three-headed Sea Demon?” A memory from the Giant Dragon’s legacy flashed in Karon’s mind; an ancient Northern Sea Witch, a powerful demigod existed in the Icaria World’s seven seas.

This demigod enslaved countless sea creatures, devouring souls and flesh of countless travelers and beings, ruling the Northern Sea in ancient times. She shared companionship with the King of Giants, advancing and retreating together.

Even faced with overlords of the sea, like the Bronze Dragon clan among dragons, she never backed down.

In ancient times, after the Titan and Dragon’s protracted war, the war between Giants and Dragons featured this demigod sea devil and her partner, the King of Hill Giants.

Both were torn apart by the mighty creation of the Five-Colored Dragon God Tiamat, a powerful Prince of Five-Colored Dragons, their souls falling into the endless abyss.

There’s still a legend about the demigod sea demon’s former palace and relics residing in the depths of the Northern Sea.

However, Karon doesn’t know what kind of bloodline talent this ancient demigod, Dikalytes the Three-headed Sea Demon possesses, but from rumors and his heart energy root once counteracting Fafnir’s bloodline sensing, he guesses it must be related to mysterious souls.

Indeed, as Fafnir narrated, Karon truly understood the powerful bloodline talent on this Giant Demon.

Fafnir’s Soul Devourer talent is said to be more domineering than the dragons’ enslavement spell, able to consume and host the opponent’s soul, forming a symbiotic relationship, making the Giant Demon appear to have an additional head, possessing all abilities of the devoured being.

Moreover, most of the opponent’s qualities and attributes would supplement the Giant Demon, gradually giving Fafnir similar qualities and attributes.

Meaning, Fafnir can evolve towards the adversary’s superior direction based on the soul symbiosis.

”Hmm,” Karon was somewhat surprised by Fafnir’s talent, guessing some of her thoughts, and intrigued by the notion of throwing her into his lab as a test subject.

His crimson pupils stared at Fafnir’s expression, asking, ”So, you’re coveting the power of that Red Dragon, Fafnir.”

”Yes, my lord, I beseech your grace, allowing me to use my talent to better serve you and the Dragon Group.”

Fafnir didn’t dare use her charm ability, choosing instead to honestly and directly relay her intentions. This trick never worked on the Red Dragon, not even her improved charm ability upon reaching adulthood could shake the dragon’s will.

At this moment, Fafnir doubted whether the opposite was really a brutal, lustful, greedy, and chaotic Red Dragon, wondering how there could be a creature that fully controls its instincts.
