Beneath the Red Dragon

Riiip,

The head of the giant dragon, along with a thick segment of its neck, was torn in half by the Red Dragon, with foul-smelling, fresh blood spraying out in torrents. A strong jolt of pain caused the Chimera to cry out miserably, echoing far and wide.

The Chimera’s cries startled all the beasts and creatures within this mountain forest, turning their gazes to distant corners to explore the cause of this alarming commotion, wondering what trouble had made such a powerful monster emit such a piteous cry.

”Pick up your head,” the Red Dragon contentedly retracted its Dragon Claw, knowing that a monster like the Chimera wouldn’t succumb to death from such injuries. After a period of recuperation, it could even regrow its head.

This was the brutal and arrogant nature of the Red Dragon, but it also pertained to Karon’s behavioral awareness. When facing a savage opponent, Karon chooses to suppress the opponent with even more harsh means. He’s like a mirror containing all emotions and actions, reflecting every opponent’s behavior and consciousness.

”Follow me. If you can’t keep up with my pace, find a place to be your cemetery!”

The Chimera, trembling, used its lion head to grasp its severed head and followed the Red Dragon’s pace.

The Red Dragon spread its wings, and the two-headed Chimera also followed behind, akin to a hound following its master’s footsteps.

Karon, with his newly acquired pup and experimental subject, embarked on the return journey. This territorial patrol process made him quite satisfied, proving some of his methods correct and effective. At this moment, he was like an old farmer sowing seeds in spring, anticipating his territory to reap a harvest in autumn.

When Karon brought the Chimera to the mountain summit, he saw the waiting figure of White Dragon Gomot. At this moment, a hint of anxiety was apparent on the calm face of the White Dragon. Seeing Karon land atop the mountain, it hurriedly stepped up to greet him.

”I’ve been away for just two short days; has something major transpired in the territory? But no matter how dire the situation, Gomot, never reveal the emotions in your heart,” Karon kicked the cringing Chimera off the mountain top. This was the convergence place of the Dragon Group; such a monster was not worthy to stand alongside the giant dragons.

”Karon, the flying birds driven by Antajena spotted a rogue Red Dragon yesterday,” White Dragon Gomot adhered to the Red Dragon’s advice, regaining calmness from its anxious demeanor.

”Did you find where this Red Dragon came from, or its approximate strength?” Karon’s tone was neither hurried nor slow. As the leader of the Dragon Group and the supreme ruler of the territory, whether or not he has assurance, or makes any decision, he cannot lose composure. Calmness is the best approach to facing crises.

White Dragon Gomot shook his head and said in an uncertain tone, ”Antajena’s flying birds aren’t very smart, even dumber than Camid. All they know is that these flying birds discovered the Red Dragon’s traces on the west side of the forest. However, according to the birds’ description, it’s estimated to be at least an adolescent Red Dragon, or perhaps even a youth-stage Red Dragon.”

White Dragon Gomot certainly wasn’t looking down on his fellow kin; he just grew accustomed to teasing Camid since childhood, and now that Gomot can joke like this, it proves that his spirit has indeed returned to calmness.

”An adolescent rogue Red Dragon isn’t much to worry about; all giant dragons of the Dragon Group charging together is something not an ordinary Red Dragon can withstand. If it’s a youth-stage Red Dragon, then it’s a bit more troublesome,” Karon’s Dragon Claw subconsciously scratched his chin.

The youth stage is when a giant dragon’s strength sees the greatest leap, making it the age of the most extreme strength disparity within the dragon group. Outstanding giant dragons at the peak of their youth possess the power to combat legends. However, such dragons typically emerge only among the Golden Dragon species.

After all, the Golden Dragon enjoys the special favor of Platinum Dragon King Bahamut’s extraordinary bloodline. While the Red Dragon generally can’t compete with the rightful bloodline of the Golden Dragon, its strong innate talents place it securely second among all Metal Giant Dragons and Five-Colored Giant Dragons.

Once a youth-stage Red Dragon begins to awaken its spellcasting ability, gaining talent skills matching its spiritual traits, coupled with the Red Dragon’s mighty physique, it becomes a formidable enemy. Even if the Dragon Group already possesses ten giant dragons, caution is necessary.

Young giant dragons like White Dragon Camid and Black Dragon Rosani suffer severe injuries upon contact with a youth-stage Red Dragon, and facing it directly may result in being torn apart by the Red Dragon.

Currently, within the Dragon Group, only this oversized Red Dragon Karon, Red Copper Dragon Alfred, and Bronze Dragon Alina possess the power to contend with a youth-stage Red Dragon.

Even the adolescent Blue Dragon Akzhi can only roam around the edges, waiting for an opportunity to enter.

”Don’t publicize this within the territory for now; have Antajena and Rosani send out flying birds and beasts to investigate where the rogue Red Dragon has been,” Karon stated with a lit-up glance. He hadn’t encountered a challenging opponent for quite some time; the battle-hungry gene in Red Dragons was resurfacing and boiling within him.

”If this rogue Red Dragon doesn’t intend to invade our territory, then leave it be for now. If he dares to seize the territory we have struggled to establish, to steal our fruits of labor, I wouldn’t mind personally killing him,” Karon’s fiery red pupils emitted boiling flames.

He wasn’t afraid of facing repercussions for killing a Red Dragon. Although dragons strive to avoid slaughtering their kind, it’s not impossible to kill them. Even if Tiamat descended, she wouldn’t rage over the life of a Red Dragon invading someone else’s territory. This is a consensus shared by all dragons, transcending religious and divine oracle limitations.
