Beneath the Red Dragon

The dark-skinned farmer spoke boldly.

Saiding nodded, feeling that life was now stable and promising for them, and more than anyone, he supported the dragons’ rule.

These assorted giant dragons that frequently crossed the sky were seen as awe-inspiring rather than terrifying.

Many of the younger human children liked to stick two branches in their hair as dragon horns, and the more they resembled actual dragon horns, the more impressive they were.

”Hey, did you hear? Recently, the dragons captured a giant causing trouble in the territory! They locked the giant, who liked to eat humans, in the mountains, and the occasional morning screams you hear are from that giant,”

At this point, the topic was steered towards gossip by the woman beside Saiding.

”It’s not a giant,” another burly and robust farmer woman interjected,

she said mysteriously: ”I heard from those kobolds that the captured one was a dragon, a powerful Red Dragon.”

”If you wait at the foot of the mountain for the clouds to scatter during clear weather, you can see that thirty-meter-long Red Dragon chained by iron thicker than any dragon.”

”Ah,” the dark-skinned farmer asked with confusion, ”That chained Red Dragon is also a dragon, so why would the Dragon Group capture and chain him?”

”Fool,” Saiding finally found an opening and spoke, ”There are good and bad dragons, just like there are good and bad people.”

”This Red Dragon must have been up to no good, like those malicious Five-Color Dragons, trying to rob our territory, so the Lord Giant Dragons captured him. Damn it, if I ever see that Red Dragon, I’d use my pitchfork to give his rear a good jab.”

The farmer Saiding’s bravado made all the gathered farmers burst into laughter, their laughter carried away by the morning breeze.

”Unless that Red Dragon is a female, then your pitchfork might be as effective as your big stick, hahaha!”

...

Roar,

”Let me go, I, Kaidelos, am a noble True Dragon, a dignified Red Dragon. Have you not enslaved me enough? Damn it, Karon, I want to see you, Karon, you dare lock me up but don’t dare meet me!”

The deep roar of the dragon echoed from the mountains, filled with anger, frustration, and humiliation.

Even those creatures who didn’t understand Dragon Language could grasp these emotions from the dragon’s roar.

At this moment, the rumored Young Red Dragon Kaidelos, said to be thirty meters long, was bound with iron rings on his limbs and neck, with several thick red chains locking the rings, and the other end deeply embedded in the solid mountain rock.

He was like a hound chained, guarding the nest at the highest peak of the mountains for its loathsome master, the Young Dragon.

This situation brought great humiliation to the always proud Young Red Dragon, who, waking up every day, resorted to roaring and dragging his long chains through the mountains like a defeated dog.

”Karon, you’ve mastered the dragon’s favor and set a subjugation contract with that Red Dragon, might as well let that noisy Red Dragon out. Constant racket in the mountains keeps everyone from sleeping in leisurely. Anyway, with the subjugation contract, he won’t dare defy the Dragon Group’s will.”

The Dragon Group gathered in the orchard continuously expanded by Green Dragon Antajena.

On one hand, the entire Dragon Group found Young Red Dragon Kaidelos too noisy; on the other, Karon was about to venture into other realms, and had some matters to convey to the dragons.

This equivalently served as the territory’s Supreme Council, the Dragon Council.

Even the territory’s supreme ruler was present, except for Bronze Dragon Alina who was busy in the distance.

Karon now lounged lazily beneath a pear tree, displaying a languid demeanor.

His massive body curled like a big cat, using his long tail as a cushion for his broad chin.

Other giant dragons were scattered lazily around the Red Dragon.

Only Red Copper Dragon Alfred found these Dragon Group meetings relatively fresh, while directing two fluttering Pick Elves to peel an orange for him, he was curiously looking around.

Karon scratched his itchy teeth with his claw, feeling the urge to bite something to grind his teeth.

But he held back the thought, turning his gaze to Black Dragon Rosani who had just spoken.

The Dragon Group was prosperous now, owning enough food and their own treasures, which in some ways helped dragons grow.

Even the weakest in the Dragon Group, Black Dragon Rosani and White Dragon Camid, had grown to nine meters long.

Though Black Dragon Rosani remained thin, it’s a black dragon’s inherent trait.

In the future, black dragons would come to resemble a skeletal image, something Karon saw as an ugly giant dragon.

Karon shook his head slightly, unknowingly influencing the juvenile dragons in the Dragon Group from a young age.

In a way, this Red Dragon acted as an initiator for these young dragons, guiding them toward ideas absent from or never possessed within the bloodline inheritance of dragons.

”In human society, every man is the pillar of their household; women and children may be careless, but men can never afford such negligence.”

Karon spoke solemnly: ”And we are the pillars of the Dragon Group Territory, we cannot make such errors,”
