I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

The ”unorthodox” Fireball Technique struck and left the Demon Frog Lord utterly stunned.

In truth, it wasn’t entirely the Maze Lord’s fault for being careless; Gauss’s casting speed was simply too fast.

”Boom!!!”

A surge of flames accompanied by a powerful shock wave erupted, instantly catapulting the Demon Frog Lord away.

”Splish splash!”

When the giant magic frog hit the ground, several of its unsightly sacs burst open, leaving behind countless various-sized craters as colorful magical slime splattered on the surface.

The Demon Frog Lord gently shook its head, seemingly yet to recover from the blast’s impact.

Gauss, not far away, exhaled slightly.

After casting the Fireball Technique, he regretted it a bit.

Not because he felt the Fireball Technique wasn’t powerful enough; rather, he worried it was too powerful.

His Magic Envoy Professional Level was only Level 7, yet the purity and quantity of his magic power, along with numerous racial talents and professional feats to enhance spells, far exceeded those of adventurers at the same level. He might even be stronger than those Level 11 casters; otherwise, how could he match those Level 11 professionals without a ”Domain,” an impactful game-changer?

The potency of a magic spell is tightly linked to magic power, feats, and talent.

Though Fireball Technique is only a 3rd-level Spell, under his hand, it achieves effects stronger than Tier Four Spell.

Additionally, just like humans specialize in various professions, demons have their strengths and weaknesses. By all accounts, that giant magic frog follows the path of the ”Magic System” rather than being a Warrior with steel-like toughness.

Therefore, he truly feared a careless cast of the Fireball Technique would directly obliterate the fragile body of the ”Mage” if the opponent did not dodge, ruining his original plans.

With the lord dead, would the monster minions still sacrifice their lives, knowing they are outmatched?

Fortunately, the most feared scenario did not occur.

The giant magic frog’s instincts made it quickly leap aside as soon as the Fireball Technique appeared, using the shock wave to avoid the central high temperature.

”Not bad...”

Gauss adjusted his view slightly about the magic system of the Demon Frog Lord’s prowess.

Perhaps there’s a special enhancement due to the Maze layer’s lord status; indeed, he felt its physique stronger than expected.

Moreover, he sensed an inexplicable change in the surrounding space the moment the Fireball Technique hit, as if the Maze world shielded it from part of the damage.

”Ribbit!”

Just recovering from dizziness, the Demon Frog Lord looked up to see Gauss shaking his head, showing some surprise in his eyes. Its ”intelligible” nature immediately comprehended Gauss’s emotions, causing a surge of anger to burn fiercely within its robust body.

Despicable human! How dare he underestimate it!

Flames flickered in its frog eyes.

As the lord of this Maze layer, commanding numerous demons, when ever had it suffered such humiliation?

It believed it was merely caught off guard by the human’s ambush; with proper formation in direct combat, it deemed itself not inferior.

Blessed by the power of the Maze, it could continuously restore life, endurance, and magic power during battle. Hence, fighting in this Maze, should there be no instant kill, it would only grow stronger.

”Ribbit!”

As if echoing the Demon Frog Lord’s roar, the Demon Legion erupted with excitement!

Demons threw themselves against the human adventurers blocking their way.

However, before storming the ranks of the Red Dragon Team, they must pass the ferocious Goblin Clay Giant and a Red Dragon Beast.

These two mighty beasts’ robust bodies rendered any special techniques unnecessary; their hands, feet, any bodily part transformed into terrifying weapons, swiftly vaporizing nearby monsters into mere statistics for Gauss’s chart.

Meanwhile, other Red Dragon Team members took advantage of the beasts’ cover, launching attacks.

Particularly Warlock Luna, Level 9, unleashed her spells with delight, various magic bombarding the distant demon legion indiscriminately, all because no other front-line could instill as much security as the Goblin Clay Giant and Red Dragon Beast did.

Especially the Clay Goblin; it truly achieved ”self-sacrifice,” ignoring personal safety entirely. All magic, arrows were absorbed by its massive, sturdy body, akin to an insurmountable wall of despair blocking the monsters.

If not for the demons’ sustained influence from the Maze Lord, typically under such conditions, they’d have already lost morale and fled.

Gauss glanced at the distant battle out of the corner of his eye.

Feeling more satisfied, in this brief moment, the Red Dragon Team members and partners had killed over a hundred demons for him without requiring his direct action.

This provided a distinct pleasure akin to being a hands-off overseer, directing employees to do the work.

His task was merely to contain this lord, keeping it in a raging state without killing it too quickly, allowing it to call for more demons to perish.

Having finally found this ”training ground,” he aimed to maximize his tally.
