I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

In the distance, overlooking the battlefield that ended in an instant, the members of the Hunter’s Adventurer Squad exchanged unsure glances.

They had just gotten up from the ground, and the battle in the distance was already over?

This speed inevitably made them feel ashamed.

”Big Brother, should we go over there?”

”No, we’ll bypass it, keep our distance.” The leader, Seth, shook his head.

Although the intelligence suggested that the leader of the Red Dragon Team, Gauss, has a good personality and isn’t one for slaughter or rashness, he didn’t want to gamble with his and his companion’s lives.

Maybe today, the other party is just in a bad mood?

Even if the other side were to kill them all here, it’s likely no word would get out.

The way of survival for the weak is to stay as far away as possible in the wilderness from those strong enough to easily take one’s life.

As for making connections or winning the other’s favor, he dared not even think about it.

”Retreat!”

...

Over the next two days.

Seth and his team searched for traces of centaurs on the Wind Grassland, but found nothing.

”Weren’t we told there were a lot of centaurs around here?” An adventurer in the team complained.

”Not to mention centaurs, we didn’t even see many other demons either!”

They journeyed for two days, and the vast Wind Grassland seemed to have fallen silent, eerily quiet.

Their lack of findings not only left them with grievances but also made them suspect the informant who sold them exaggerated intelligence.

”Captain Seth, a group of monster corpses were found ahead.”

”Completely stripped clean.”

The member responsible for scouting returned to report the situation, leading the people to the corresponding location.

Seth took a look at the surroundings.

Apart from the corpses which attracted flies buzzing everywhere, the entire area was unusually clean, not appearing to have experienced a long battle, more like it ended in an instant.

His peripheral vision caught a glimpse of a giant collapsed footprint.

Recalling the battle he observed from afar two days ago that also ended instantly, he suddenly had an idea.

A speculation sprang up from the depths of his mind.

If he guessed right, the death of this group of monsters and the abnormal state of the grassland these past two days must be linked to that man.

He seemed to be conducting a sweeping operation across the entire Wind Grassland!

It sounds a bit unbelievable, but with the unparalleled mobility of a Giant Dragon mount, combined with that man’s own powerful strength, it seems not entirely impossible.

Thinking of this, Seth felt both envious and troubled, hesitated for a while, and looked at his companions.

”Let’s head back first and come back in a couple of days. If that doesn’t work, we’ll have to find a different place to search for demon centaurs.”

With the flying height and speed of a Giant Dragon, the operating range of their riding adventurer team is probably entirely under the other’s active area.

In other words, it was almost impossible for them to find the target creature at this time and place.

The others, seeing the footprint of the dragon, also realized something.

Uncharacteristically, they sighed collectively.

Although their plans for this trip were severely impacted, facing the deeply sunk dragon footprint, they dared not harbor any grievance.

If there was blame to be laid, it could only be on their own bad luck.

”Let’s go back.”

The law of the jungle is a deeply rooted rule on this land.

Though they appeared meek before the Giant Dragon and its master, truthfully, during their long years of adventuring in the wild, they had bullied many weaker Bottom Adventurer squads.

Because of this, when they first caught a distant glimpse of Gauss, even knowing he had a good reputation, they dared not approach.
