I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Mage’s Hand is a pre-written ”program” that achieves a fixed magic effect by consuming magic power. Even when its level increases, it only slightly enhances the original.

While stable, it also limits its plasticity. Gauss cannot modify it at will, or its model might collapse. Even if the modification succeeds, it requires a lot of effort and luck, and it would essentially become a new magic unrelated to the original spell.

However, every strand of Spiritual Telekinesis belongs to him.

Compared to Mage’s Hand, which requires the use of magic power, Spiritual Telekinesis is more concealed, harder to detect, and not affected by other magic like ”Dispel Magic” or ”Magic Counter,” nor is it weakened by talents like ”Spell Resistance.”

With this in mind, the next moment, the originally calm air around Gauss suddenly stirred.

Numerous fine needles he had prepared floated simultaneously.

Then, as if possessing some sort of collective consciousness, they rotated around Gauss’s body.

”Swoosh!”

The speed of the needles was so fast that they faintly emitted a sound of cutting through the air.

As Gauss focused intently on one part of the wall, suddenly, the needles shot out together in the target direction.

”Puff! Puff! Puff!”

A series of sounds echoed.

The wall behind Gauss now had dozens of tiny, barely noticeable holes.

It should be noted that the walls of his room were specially reinforced.

Ordinary swords and knives find it difficult to leave any damage on them.

If those needles hadn’t landed on the walls but on a person’s body, even one might easily claim the life of a professional.

”Not bad.”

Gauss nodded.

The greatest advantage of this attack is its concealment.

”Lord Gauss, the rabbits you’ve requested have arrived.”

A knock on the door sounded.

”Come in.”

The speaker was his steward at the base, while the maid behind him entered with two cages of gray rabbits.

”My lord, should I inform the kitchen to prepare them for cooking?”

”No need, just leave them, and please close the door on your way out.” Upon hearing Gauss’s response, the steward didn’t ask more, soon bowed slightly, and left.

Gauss then turned his gaze to the gray rabbits in the cages.

He naturally didn’t ask the steward to buy gray rabbits for food but for experimentation.

Perhaps because he often experimented on sparrows, or maybe because the crows were being chased away, he discovered upon returning that it was quite difficult to find sparrows near the Red Dragon Team’s base.

Fortunately, buying ordinary creatures was not expensive.

Gray rabbits, with their more robust life force, were actually better test subjects than free sparrows.

He watched as the intangible yet solidified spiritual power detached from his body and slowly enveloped the gray rabbits.

As his formidable spiritual power approached the target, Gauss could distinctly sense that within it was also a soul fire, albeit a considerably weak one compared to humans and other demons.

When Gauss’s spiritual power neared, the rabbit’s soul instinctively began gathering strength to resist.

But this resistance was so feeble in the face of such a massive disparity in spiritual strength that it seemed almost nonexistent. Ultimately, Gauss’s spiritual power invaded its body with ease.

Moreover, if it weren’t for Gauss’s extremely high level of control over his spiritual power, the rabbit’s loose soul might have naturally disintegrated before he even approached, instead of now shrinking into a corner of its body.

Yet, even so, the rabbit’s entire body began to tremble violently, convulsing as if in a seizure.

Gauss paid no heed to its convulsions, silently feeling and sensing.

He felt that if he wished, he could erase the rabbit’s soul at any moment and briefly occupy its body, achieving a similar effect to ”possession.”

However, this held little meaning for him.

He could sense that even if he forcefully took over, he would not be able to occupy the rabbit’s body for long, acting more like a puppet manipulated by soul power.

”Interesting.”

Gauss erased the rabbit’s soul, controlling it to stop convulsing, and it bounced casually in the cage a couple of times.

”Possessing a creature’s body is not as nimble or convenient as controlling needles.”

Indeed, life is mysterious.

With his level of strength, it’s almost impossible for an ordinary rabbit to resist, but at the essence of the soul and body, this ”resistance” is significantly stronger.

His soul power and other biological bodies exhibit a strong repulsive reaction. He can control the rabbit only because of the vast gap between them, but if it were replaced by a creature with a stronger soul, this repulsive resistance would become much stronger.

The soul and body of even the most fragile life are closely intertwined.

”However, this is also good.”

Gauss not only wasn’t disappointed but also felt relieved.

Achieving a similar effect to ”possession” seems more difficult than he anticipated.

This is a good thing, at least he doesn’t have to worry about himself or his close friends facing similar troubles.

He has no desire to possess other bodies. Being able to erase other creatures’ souls or control external forces to kill is enough, original bodies are still the best.

Even if his spiritual power grows strong enough to achieve possession of other lives, he would not walk down this evil path.
