I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

To be honest, if Gauss’s attributes hadn’t reached an outstanding level, and he hadn’t received blessings from Moterla that made him sensitive to evil powers, he might not have been able to immediately and accurately identify the aura on Fisher.

Speaking of which, he still has a mark inside him.

That was from when he hadn’t yet advanced to become a Professional and was still a Bottom Adventurer.

During a cleanup of a church ratman nest, the final ratman priest chose to take his own life and, at the cost of his and his clansmen’s lives, left a mark on him.

At that time, it even mentioned the existence it worshiped, Vesperilia.

He later asked Moterla for help to remove it, but unfortunately, Moterla was not skilled in such purification, so he only used some means to conceal it somewhat.

”So, is Fisher, like that ratman priest, also a minion of that mysterious existence?”

Gauss signaled the other members of the Red Dragon Team to stay away.

Even though it’s unclear whether it is an Evil God, Demon, or some Devil, it is certainly not benign. Ordinary people who come into contact with this level of power are practically courting death.

”Fsssss!”

Fisher’s body, which Gauss had riddled with arrows, suddenly began to tremble, and then a dark green airflow emerged from within, enveloping him entirely, resembling some kind of wraith encircling the body.

Then he slowly floated upward, looking at Gauss with a sinister grin.

Now, he no longer appeared human, seeming more like a commonly recognized evil humanoid creature.

No wonder he went for Luna and the others with a deadly hand after seizing power.

”Be careful.”

Aaliyah also signaled the members of the Red Dragon Team to keep their distance.

Meanwhile, Serdur quickly cast blessings on everyone present to prevent any toxic breath from escaping and infecting the crowd.

Behind Fisher, the dozen or so elite members he brought had varied expressions.

Many hastily pulled on their reins, fear flashing in their eyes as they looked at this second-generation leader Fisher.

Anyone could see the bizarre state Fisher was in now.

After exchanging glances, the value placed on their lives overcame the brief loyalty they had built, quickly turning their mounts around and fleeing several hundred meters away.

”Fisher, have you finally been exposed?”

In the distance, Luna also observed Fisher’s transformation, though his current appearance indeed surpassed her expectations.

Because during Wolf’s death night, she only arrived at the last moment and did not witness the entire process, so she was unclear about what special means Fisher used to kill Wolf.

She previously thought Fisher was merely an ambitious person.

Assassinating Wolf just to seize Gray Wolf’s Fang, but now it seems there is more to this guy.

Gauss lowered his eyes to glance at the people Fisher brought along. Some were still accelerating towards him.

So loyal, even when Fisher has shown his true form?

However, after they had gotten closer, he quickly sensed an aura similar to Fisher’s on them, though it was significantly weaker compared to him.

Their changes weren’t in their entire bodies but localized, like in an arm or head, torso, etc.

The transformed areas of their bodies were in a black-green energy form.

It turns out they’re comrades, no wonder they weren’t afraid but instead accelerated towards the battlefield, accurately targeting the Red Dragon Team members at the back.

Luna and the others had also joined the Red Dragon Team’s ranks by now, clearly not intending to stand by idly.

Whether for personal grievances or for the sake of their safety, she had to help the Red Dragon Team, or even if she escaped, Fisher and others could still come after them.

Gauss looked at the fully formed Fisher, maintaining a relatively calm expression.

Is this what Fisher is relying on?

According to the intelligence Luna provided, this guy seemed to have set his sights on him at the beginning of the year.

He subsequently kept giving the leader Wolf a bad impression about him, trying to incite Wolf to deal with him.

There seems to be a hint of doubt in this.

He managed to kill the leader of Gray Wolf’s Fang, Wolf, a few days ago, indicating his power surpasses him by quite a margin.

If he wanted to explore the secrets within him, he could have done it himself without continually instigating someone he could easily kill.

Moreover, why hadn’t he come directly before, yet now he can’t hold back?

Merely because, after seizing Gray Wolf’s Fang, he added several transformed helpers.

Unless he recently acquired this power.

This also explains why he managed to endure under others for years but now openly displays ambition.

Once one gains power far beyond their current level, they can easily become unbalanced and euphoric.

”However, that’s still not enough.”

Gauss was curious about just who or what opportunity allowed Fisher to gain such power akin to the ratman priest, but thinking he could defeat him relying on that energy was underestimating his current capabilities.

Besides, while ordinary individuals may find negative energy troubling, that certainly doesn’t include him.
