I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

”Continue forward, then turn left.”

Although Gron hadn’t been here for a long time, he still remembered the way forward.

Gauss was also paying attention to the situation in the city.

He felt a bit regretful that the useful supplies in the shops and buildings on the street had already been scavenged by the monsters.

Otherwise, he could have easily increased his earnings during this trip.

”Right ahead, that three-story house with blue tiles.”

Gron suddenly spoke up.

Ying appeared with the group from a corner of the alley.

As she showed up, her shadow clone efficiently and quietly dealt with the four Kobolds originally lying there.

”The monsters nearby have decreased.”

Gauss pointed out.

This was not good news.

The majority of powerful demons, although accustomed to recruiting minions, generally dislike living too closely with many low-level monsters.

Because low-level monsters are essentially feces-producing machines, their habitats are often accompanied by the stench of excrement and urine.

Most high-level demons with awakened intelligence usually have requirements for their dwelling environment.

Clearly, this place was near the ”habitat” of some high-level demon.

And this high-level demon, after Gauss sent out the Clay Spider and shared its vision, quickly identified the exact target.

Because the other party had no intention of hiding.

It stood on four legs on a vast and empty square, though its closed eyes indicated it was resting.

It was a gigantic centaur.

Moreover, it was not an ordinary centaur.

Its horse body was covered with a large amount of dark green scales, emanating a familiar yet unfamiliar aura to Gauss.

An Extraordinary Centaur with Dragon Blood?

In its hand, it tightly gripped a gigantic spear about seven to eight meters long, its spear tip reflecting a terrifying glint in the sunlight, as if capable of piercing through any protection with a single thrust.

Gauss dared not send the spider too close.

Powerful demons often possess excellent Perception, or perhaps it’s an instinct akin to a beast’s awareness.

”This is troublesome...”

Gauss recalled the spider and shared his discovery with his companions.

Gron’s friend’s house was about forty meters from the square, a fairly close distance.

Once exposed, with the speed of that suspected Extraordinary Creature, Gauss had no doubt that it would reach them in the blink of an eye.

Ordinary centaurs are already quite fast, let alone such a giant mutant centaur resembling a land tank.

”At this distance, we must prepare for battle at any moment.”

Gauss warned.

Ying’s concealment ability was strong, but this distance was akin to being right under the opponent’s nose.

Monsters tend to have sharper Detection towards threatening targets.

”If we’re exposed, Ying, save the person and leave directly, don’t worry about me.”

”I’ll try to buy time.”

”But...” Aaliyah was still a bit worried.

”I have a teleportation skill and flight method, escaping alone would be easier.”

Gauss gave them a reassuring look.

His mobility was indeed quite good now.

As long as he avoided a prolonged fight, even if the odds weren’t favorable, he could likely escape smoothly.

”That’s settled then.” Gauss finalized the plan.

Gauss again deployed a miniature Clay Spider, controlled it to climb to a rooftop like a surveillance camera, watching the direction of the mutant centaur in the square.

Meanwhile, he and Ying quickly approached the target building.

Two hundred meters, one hundred fifty meters, one hundred meters, seventy meters...

When they were about 50 meters from the house and approximately 90 meters from the square.

Gauss, distractedly observing through the spider ”camera,” made a discovery.

He saw the centaur, whose eyes were originally closed, suddenly open them, then its head slowly turned towards their direction.

It was correct to have no false hope... At the first moment of this realization, Gauss felt a bit relieved internally.

”Proceed according to the plan.”

At the same time, Gauss and Ying directed their companions.

Then his body broke away from the ground shadow.

Flying upwards.

Meanwhile, Ying and the others accelerated towards the target building.

...

In the square, Isetor the centaur opened his eyes, a powerful pressure accompanying his nearly tangible gaze spread out.

Monsters near the edges of the square were crushed by this sudden aura, trembling.

He ignored his own minions who lost control, raising a pair of steady male features to look toward the sky where Gauss floated.

”Human Gauss...”

Gauss heard the centaur’s voice, instantly feeling his hackles rise, because the centaur had accurately pronounced his name in the common human language.

Sure enough, his guess was correct; he already had some fame among the monsters.

Ordinary low-level monsters couldn’t access or comprehend this kind of information.

And the centaur in front of him, emanating a dragon-like aura, clearly held some esteem within the Green Dragon Queen’s ranks.

”You actually know me?”

Gauss’s voice, full of presence, also reached below.

He didn’t mind chatting with this centaur a bit more, as it could draw the centaur and other monsters’ attention, giving Aaliyah and the others time and space to act.

The centaur said nothing, merely stared at the airborne Gauss.

Like Gauss, it sensed a familiar aura from him.

Moreover, the opponent distinctly possessed a nobler aura compared to its own, despite being human, far exceeding the concentration of even a demon blessed by its mistress.

Indeed, just like the information indicated...
