I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

When facing a more powerful Demon Lord, it would hide it in advance.

Just because it knows, if those powerful demons learn that it holds such a Treasure, they will stop at nothing to seize it from its hands.

This human coveting its treasure must be killed!

...

Blue light flickers continuously.

After activating the super-speed state, his teleportation became cleaner and neater.

Originally, those firebirds might intercept him, but once the preparation time was shortened to 0.2-0.3 seconds, this probability became very low.

Losing their target, the flames continuously collided in mid-air.

”Boom boom boom!!”

Massive explosions of extremely high-temperature flames resonated almost simultaneously in the valley, engulfing anything in the vicinity, whether it be Kobold, rock, or soil, in the blazing white explosions.

The visual effect was quite exaggerated.

In the distance, Kobold leaders, who had previously laid out the oils according to their leader’s instructions, witnessed this scene and looked at their leader with adoration in their eyes.

The leader was truly strong.

Only because, in their view, the current situation was under their Kobold leader’s full control, and the human was always just narrowly escaping in a panic at the last moment, like a turtle in a jar.

But in places where they didn’t notice, beads of sweat were rolling down the Kobold leader’s forehead.

Why?

Why does it always almost hit, yet he miraculously manages to avoid it?

The anxiety in its heart continued to spread.

Every time Gauss dodged an attack, the feeling of anxiety deepened.

Like an invisible monster opening its tentacles, slowly capturing its body, then tightening, and tightening!

It felt that the ”Divine Power” bestowed by the golden candle was fading, and it was no longer as confident as at the beginning.

It began to realize that that human, the Red Dragon’s master, truly had the potential to steal away its most treasured possession!

As that aggressive figure got closer, its pupils looking at the candle suddenly widened.

”No no no! You can’t leave!”

Suddenly, more Magic Power surged continuously into the candle.

”Die!”

”Die!”

”Just die for me!”

It stared furiously at Gauss, its eyes bloodshot, with dense blood vessels emanating from the depths of its pupils.

It wished it could glare Gauss to death.

And the explosions descended at an ever faster pace.

The entire valley began to tremble.

”Hoo——”

Unlike the nearly insane Kobold, Gauss became increasingly calm at this moment.

He looked at the Kobold leader who had completely fallen into madness and then shifted his focus to the golden candle.

The biggest weakness lay within the Kobold leader itself.

A weapon given to a child and to a well-trained soldier yields vastly different results.

And this Kobold leader, in Gauss’s eyes, was that weak child.

He admitted, that the chain explosions’ impact, if it hit him, could indeed cause him some harm, and once caught, the endless firebirds could trigger an even stronger explosive force.

But... all the prerequisites depended on hitting him.

The Kobold leader’s reactions to Gauss exhibited a delay of 0.2 seconds, which was simply too slow.

The power generated by burning the Divine Factor was indeed strong, but the Kobold could not match its intensity, even though the Kobold had been strengthened.

The other party perceives Gauss’s presence, generates awareness, the brain makes decisions, the awareness transmits outward, and then communicates with the golden candle through magic power, finally controlling the firebirds spreading throughout the valley; each of these steps takes time.

Whereas Gauss’s teleportation is point-to-point displacement, coupled with Gauss’s conscious avoidance of the shortest direction, this means the Kobold leader couldn’t make precise predictions about his whereabouts, and each attack had to be reassessed once his position was captured.

Therefore, theoretically speaking, as long as its series of reaction times exceeded 0.2 seconds, it could never hit Gauss.

In other words, the seemingly ”narrow escape” and ”just a bit off” gap was actually an insurmountable chasm at present!

This was also the true reason for the Kobold leader’s sudden rampage, start randomly launching explosions without purpose.

Rather than calling it an attack, it was more a vent, a vent for that panic and unease.

Because, it vaguely understood an objective fact.

That is, with its strength, even with the advantage of the golden candle, it would never hit Gauss.

The Kobold leaders looked at the scene in the valley, almost like a natural disaster descending, nearly wanting to prostrate themselves to the ground, their faces showing expressions of awe and shock.

As for those lower-tier Kobolds who miraculously survived the explosions, they accelerated their escape from the valley.

Following the Red Dragon’s Dragon Breath attack, even their leader began to ruthlessly kill them!

Outside the valley, senior members of the Red Dragon Team directed members to take emergency precautions to prevent collapsing passages from burying team members.

”Boom!”

In quick succession with a series of high-temperature shock waves, Gauss flickered rapidly, finally getting close to the elderly Kobold leader.

Seeing its figure change, Gauss was slightly surprised.

Just because, in such a short time, it underwent a noticeable transformation.

Its originally murky red scales had now lost most of their luster, its vitality so weak that it was almost imperceptible, this Kobold could visibly be seen to the verge of death.

The Kobold leader was not young, but it wasn’t yet to the point of being like a candle in the wind.

”So, is this the price it pays for the excessive use of Divine Factor?”

”The price is burning its Life Force?”

Gauss quickly thought.

Beyond conventional strength, there’s a price beyond common sense.

Judging purely on destructive power, the Kobold leader may very well have surpassed the threshold of the Extraordinary, greatly inconsistent with its true strength.

Divine Factor for the Kobold is actually a lethal poison.

”Magic Counter!”

Gauss threw a Magic Effect from his hand, attaching it to the nearby Kobold leader.

With its body convulsing violently, the magical backlash became the last straw that broke it.

The remaining magic power formed counteracting turbulence, rampaging within its body.

The Kobold leader’s body swelled and contracted quickly like a balloon, with magic power crashing around within its body.

Meanwhile, the flames pervading the entire valley swiftly ceased flying and then gradually vanished.

”Give it to me.”

Gauss teleported to the Kobold’s side and swiftly snatched the golden candle from the Kobold leader’s hands.

Although the Kobold leader intended to fight for it, its physical condition at the moment didn’t allow it to resist.

Gauss looked at the Kobold, then quickly patted its body with his other hand.

Don’t die on me here.

”Teleport!”

”Fireball Technique!”

The magic effect of Teleport swiftly appeared on the Kobold leader, and it couldn’t muster the strength to resist.

Thus, the effect of Teleport decisively took hold.

With a flash of blue light, the Kobold leader’s figure vanished, then reappeared 300 meters up in the air.

The magic of the Fireball Technique quickly erupted.

”Boom!!!”

After a thunderous explosion, the Kobold leader of the mine valley finally perished in a dazzling light orb.

”Kobold Commander killed*1”

”Commander Points gained*20”

Gauss perceived a notification for the kill.

He withdrew his gaze from the sky and placed it on the golden candle in his hand.

Ever since holding it, a yearning emotion radiated from his body.

After killing the Kobold Commander, he no longer restrained this desire.

Under his gaze, the golden candle in his hand began to decompose into particles, quickly fusing into Gauss’s palm.

His right hand turned radiant gold all over.

This glow persisted for over ten seconds before slowly subsiding, eventually returning to normal.

Once everything was over, a notification appeared before Gauss’s eyes.

”Divine Factor gained: 1.5%, Current Divine Factor: 2.63%”

”And you have absorbed a mysterious power from the special Divine Factor.”
