I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

For Gauss, when he felt the divine substance emanating from within the golden candle, the nature of this battle had quietly changed.

Gauss knew he needed to get that golden candle as quickly as possible.

After the teleportation was activated.

His body suddenly disappeared from the dragon’s back.

In the next moment, he flashed two hundred meters away, somewhere in the sky.

The reason he teleported two hundred meters also had its reasoning.

Although his current limit is three hundred meters, he had researched and tested that the magic power consumption for three hundred meters was more than double that for two hundred meters.

In other words, unless encountering a situation like last time when fleeing from Black Water Town, teleporting three hundred meters is not a very ”cost-effective” action.

If he were to teleport every several tens or hundreds of meters, it would indeed save a lot of magic power objectively, but the cost would be that the usage frequency of [teleportation] would increase significantly.

For Gauss currently, there is half a second of preparation time before he can cast teleportation.

Perhaps looking at one instance, 0.5 seconds may seem insignificant, but if the number of consecutive casting increases, the total time could stack up to 5 seconds, 10 seconds, or even longer.

Such a long time would bring many variables.

Therefore, Gauss ultimately chose a teleportation distance of two hundred meters.

However, as this silent teleportation was activated, he quickly noticed something different.

The flames surrounding him, like flying birds, detected his movement change almost immediately.

Then, the nearby ”fire birds” surged towards him like moths to a flame.

It should be noted that, unlike when he was on Hephaestus’s back earlier, the closer to the ground, the more dense and pervasive these flames became.

He sensed the temperature around his body rapidly rising.

Gauss’s expression remained unchanged, he continued to mobilize the magic power within his body, activating a second teleportation.

He was still some distance from the location of the elderly Kobold chieftain.

Originally thinking it was all in the bag, he had overlooked the strange flames permeating the valley.

No wonder it was an attack that consumed divine substance.

Gauss mused to himself.

As the many blazing white flames were about to pounce on his body, his magic power once again triggered a magic effect, and after a blue flash, his body abruptly disappeared from the original spot.

”Boom!”

The many rapidly gathering ”fire birds” collided with each other, erupting into a burning cloud of thousands of degrees.

Even the surrounding space showed strange distortions, as if the space itself was torn by this extreme heat.

Gauss, who flashed into the open space two hundred meters away, kept an eye on the commotion behind.

”Quite powerful.”

He quietly commented, observing the scene of the explosion.

The explosion just now was quite different from his initial judgment of the magical power intensity within the elderly Kobold chieftain.

If during their first meeting, the magical power intensity exposed under his golden dragon eyes was about the strength of a Level 8 caster, the explosion just now had reached a Level 10 intensity.

This is obviously highly unreasonable.

Its species is a Kobold, not a true dragon, demon, or other strong species. If it were the latter, having such surpassing strength would be unsurprising.

The answer is glaringly obvious, it comes from the golden candle in its hand.

Its might enabled a mundane Kobold to unleash far surpassing level attack methods.

While Gauss’s current strength is indeed sufficient for unleashing the lowest level of extraordinary strength, it does not mean he can ignore attacks below extraordinary level.

Moreover, he could sense a slightly oppressive ripple from them.

His sixth sense told him that should he be caught within it, the damage would be more conspicuous than it appears.

”Seems I’ll need to show some real skills.”

Gauss realized the change in his opponent’s strength, instantly altering his battle strategy.

Black and white ghost energy reattached to his skin.

He felt his brain accelerating, coupled with the stimulated blood and magic power, all enabling him to burst forth with greater agility and speed.

Furthermore, the newly acquired advanced version of [high-level spell mastery] seemed to instantly integrate too.

Thus manifested was the drastically reduced preparation time for the Tier Four spell [teleportation].

The original 0.5 seconds compressed to 0.2-0.3 seconds.

In the distance, the Kobold chieftain, having activated the mysterious energy within the candle, entered a mysterious and enigmatic state.

In this state, it became exceedingly omniscient and omnipotent, as if divinely aided.

”So wonderful...”

Its seemingly omnipotent state made it extremely indulgent.

At this moment, in this valley, it believed it was invincible, any incoming enemy would be slain.

The flames across the sky seemed like part of its invisible body, Gauss intruding into it was like an alien object entering its anatomy, even if he cast the most concealed type of space magic, it could still capture his position immediately.

But, sensing that person appeared to be eyeing its treasure.

It inexplicably felt a sense of anxiety.

Damn it! Damn human! Actually dared to eye its treasure.

This was a treasure only belonging to it.

Ever since feeling the powerful might of the candle, it cherished it even more, usually hiding it deep in the earth.
