I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

As for the water, it’s just ordinary clean drinking water, nothing special about it.

Of course, the significance of the Grain Creation Skill is not in creating delicious food, but in being able to temporarily provide large quantities of basic survival supplies for teams or parties adventuring outside.

Some magic belongs to those you may not necessarily need, but as an Adventurer team, it’s best to have some reserve.

Otherwise, you might face the punishment of fate at some unexpected times.

”That’s good then.”

Serdur let out a sigh of relief.

Time softly slipped away.

Soon, nightfall approached.

Gauss and the others moved into the foldable house.

As for the shadow sent out to scout for intelligence, the ravens and clay creatures were still working diligently in the dark night, returning to the house vicinity from time to time to recharge energy.

The next day.

The first ray of sunlight dawned on the horizon.

Gauss prepared a pot of breakfast for his teammates.

After breakfast, there seemed to be unusual noises coming from the horizon.

A few ravens flapped their wings, rapidly flying towards the group.

Was there a discovery?

Raven Aik and the smaller ravens cawed communicating, and after a moment of exchange, he raised his head, showing a proud, human-like expression.

”Enemy spotted! Enemy spotted!”

”Get ready to move.”

With the clues in hand, Gauss and the others didn’t delay and quickly packed up the camp.

Following the ravens’ guidance, they hurriedly rushed towards the abnormal location.

Quickly traversing through the ominous forest.

Gauss noticed that Aaliyah seemed particularly eager, so he inquired.

”The Vine Monster is a nasty creature, don’t be fooled by it being a plant; its destruction of nature is much worse than most Demons, of course, I learned this from books.”

Aaliyah blinked her eyes.

”Also, I’ve been researching new varieties of Hospital Protective Magical Plants, and this Vine Monster might give me some inspiration.”

As the group continued their rapid march, the air around gradually turned more humid.

Miasma shrouded the forest, making visibility less than ten meters.

This is why many Demons still inhabit human territory, because the harsh and wild natural environment prevents many Adventurers from venturing in, and over time, monsters breed incessantly.

Gauss casually shot down a face-sized vampire bat.

After traveling a further distance,

Gauss suddenly sensed a change in the atmosphere.

The once lively and clamorous cold forest suddenly plunged into deathly silence.

No bird songs, no insect chirps, no sounds of animals walking, just a seemingly frozen silence.

Gauss gave his companions a glance.

Other teammates also indicated understanding of his intention.

There’s definitely something unusual about this.

Amidst the haze, there’s a high chance their target this trip, the Vine Monster, resides.

Despite being confident in his powers, Gauss still sent the Clay Spider ahead to scout the path.

In the environment, besides the group’s muffled footsteps, there were no other sounds.

Gauss looked around.

Like the surrounding forest, the vicinity was densely packed with ancient green trees, and the ground was piled thickly with fallen leaves.

His gaze wandered, searching for the creature that might be their target.

However, after walking several hundred meters, there was no discovery.

Truth be told, the Vine Monster’s ability to hide is indeed quite remarkable, not many monsters can conceal themselves under Gauss’s watchful eyes.

But the Vine Monster is different from ordinary Demons, it can seamlessly blend into nature, making it feel as though it’s part of the environment.

It’s because of this trait that their hunting is very successful, with astonishing prey-catching rates.

Prey would come knocking on their door.

”Is it observing us?”

Gauss raised an eyebrow.

If the opponent keeps hiding, he’ll have to inspect each tree one by one.

Just as he pondered, the environment suddenly produced sound.

In the previously dead silent forest, the soil suddenly tore open.

A Clay Spider couldn’t escape in time, being tightly coiled by a thick vine.

With a ”pop!” The Clay Spider eventually couldn’t withstand the serpent-like coiling intense pressure, exploding.

”It’s the Vine Monster!”

Gauss and the others quickly scattered.

They saw a beast formed of vines drop down from around an ancient tree.

It swallowed the Clay Spider but soon spit it out.

Although the Clay Spider resembles and behaves like an ordinary big spider, it isn’t fundamentally a creature, but a blob of clay driven by Magic Power, which naturally doesn’t fit the Vine Monster’s appetite.

It also seemed to realize it was fooled, patting the ground to gather surrounding information.

Soon, it locked onto Gauss’s group’s position.

Gauss stared at the target, his mind racing.

He had no intention of using the Fireball Technique.

Though the Vine Monster is a plant, it has extremely high resistance to many element attacks, such as freezing and flame.

Yes, even as a plant, it’s not afraid of flames, with considerable resistance.

And it’s completely immune to lightning damage.

If attempting to use lightning magic to attack it, instead of causing harm, it might even heal some of its Life Force.

”Boom!!”

It suddenly smashed the ground hard.

The land instantly cracked, and the surrounding area seemed to begin to collapse.

The surrounding plants visibly shriveled as it extracted their Life Force, rapidly withering.

Such strength.
