I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Because it incorporates a significant amount of mithril, this armor also possesses impressive magic defense properties and a high level of magic power conductivity.

As he infused his magic power, the dragon scale-like gauntlet on his right hand began to glow with a faint purple hue, making the entire armor seem as if it came to life, emitting a gentle sound.

After a brief trial, he withdrew his magic power.

Without a doubt, this was also a piece of purple-quality equipment.

Compared to the equally purple Moonlight Robe, this mithril light armor offered better defense and was more suited for his close combat needs.

He could use change-gear magic according to specific requirements to switch flexibly during combat.

”Ying, with the remaining mithril, I’ll make a set for you when there’s time.”

”Okay.”

Besides Gauss, Ying indeed needed a set of light armor.

Faced with Albena’s proposal, she did not overly refuse.

Three days of travel passed in the blink of an eye.

Throughout the journey, Gauss and his team encountered several caravans.

However, as they progressed further off the beaten path, the likelihood of encountering others diminished rapidly.

This time the destination was northeast of Farlim, in an ancient forest called the White Mist Forest, rumored to have once been the territory of a small wood elf clan.

Many towering ancient trees grew within the forest.

The caravan stopped before the forest.

”We’re finally here.”

The members alighted from the vehicles, surveying the desolate surroundings.

Despite having been out for several days, many among them still had not fully adjusted to the wilderness.

Fortunately, seeing Gauss and the others at the front of the team calmed them down.

Gauss looked at the map in his hand.

According to the intel, the lair of over 2000 goblins was located within this White Mist Forest.

They occupied the remains of a ruin, establishing a magical lair nestled among the giant trees.

”Serdur, Albena, please lead the others in finding a suitable place to set up camp.”

”Ying, you’re coming with me for some reconnaissance.”

”Aaliyah, have Aik spread out the raven flock to check outside the forest for dangerous beasts that might threaten the rest of the members.”

Gauss quickly delegated the tasks, and the group dispersed.

He then entered the forest with Ying.

Once inside, a faint white mist shrouded the air.

”Ooo! Ooo!”

Occasional strange cries could be heard.

He twitched his nose; a familiar faint stench floated in the air.

It was the smell of goblin feces.

Gauss decided against using the Biological Positioning Skill to prevent the possibility of a caster in the goblin lair detecting the magic fluctuations associated with it.

He and Ying flew silently through the forest, moving swiftly.

After some time.

Strange noises around them became more frequent.

Looking down, he saw a goblin squad lifting a dead stag onto a flatbed cart.

Compared to goblins in smaller lairs, these goblins appeared more robust and were even somewhat ”well-trained.”

”Ooo!”

The leading goblin squad leader screamed, and the surrounding goblins pushed the cart further into the forest.

Gauss refrained from making a move.

Instead, he continued flying deeper.

After a while.

Among many massive ancient trees, he saw the goblin lair.

Calling it a lair, it was more like a tree city.

The central dead ancient tree was enormous, its interior hollowed out, and its exterior connected to many irregular platforms. Natural tree bridges and ropeways linked the dead giant tree with the surrounding trees.

Vertically, baskets and cages connected the ground with platforms in the trees through rope net platforms, rope ladders, layered aerial obstacle nets, and some wooden staircases surrounding the trees.

Members of this goblin lair lived like monkeys among these giant trees.

Below the tree city lay a wasteland filled with excrement, garbage, and skeletal remains.

Gauss silently observed this structure, distinct from the goblin lairs he had encountered before.

He gained a new understanding of goblins’ ”adaptability.”

The environments in which goblins could live were incredibly diverse.

Natural caves, mine tunnels, ruins, forest plains, mountains, islands, and now even between giant trees.

They seemed capable of living in any environment, developing different skills and social structures based on their surroundings.

Goblins in caves tended to be shorter, island goblins developed webbed membranes between their fingers, similar to water ghosts.

As for the goblins before him, their arm muscles were more developed, likely to enhance their climbing ability, making their physique closer to that of ”apes.”

From a population maintenance standpoint, this adaptability talent was indeed remarkable, giving them more possibilities.

Unfortunately, goblins were hostile creatures.

The better they developed, the more threatening they became to human settlements.

Like this time, because the goblin lair sent a team to raid a village over ten kilometers away, fortunately, an adventurer squad passing by was resting in the village and helped the villagers fend off the raiding team, allowing for the immediate evacuation of the villagers.

However, livestock, tools, and crops that could not be completely taken became benefits for this goblin lair.

Goblins are creatures that do not understand the meaning of living in peace.
