Global Game: I Have Portable Store

Chapter 450: Chapter 36: Assault

Gazing at the projections of various sizes in the white fog, the man carrying the giant sword showed an expression of surprise and pondered for a moment:

”Him then.”

”Him?”

The person in the black robe was taken aback and said, ”He isn’t one of us, just a native of this world.”

The man with the giant sword also sat down beside him and said, ”Does it matter? After all, it’s just a bet, and you didn’t say it had to be a gladiator.”

The person in the black robe chuckled and said, ”Hmm, right, him then, I’ll have someone add him to the points list, but since he doesn’t know the rules, you’re likely to suffer a loss.”

”Isn’t that what you’d like to see?”

”Do I have to win? Only you would think winning or losing is important.”

”Is that really the case?”

······

Suddenly, exclamations rose from the crowd below as someone noticed a new name at the bottom of the points board: ”Sniper” (Native).

No one knew what this meant, but such a change was enough to cause surprise, as nothing like this had ever occurred before.

”A native from a lower-level world suddenly joining a death match, interesting, what’s going on?”

”We’re not sure either; it came as an order from above.”

”But we have no way to track him in real-time, what should we do?”

”He will definitely confront our gladiators, just count the points by how many gladiators he kills... absolutely don’t make any small moves, a lot of people are watching.”

·······

Su Changxing, carrying a sniper rifle, walked towards the soldiers still on alert, followed by over a hundred various robots.

The T3 stationed at a nearby location isn’t suited for combat and is extremely susceptible to damage in battle. If it’s destroyed, technical conditions of this world would make repairs impossible.

Seeing Su Changxing approaching, the soldiers became alert again, and one of the officers shouted, ”We are the garrison troops, who are you?”

Su Changxing shouted back, ”Team 17 of the Security Bureau, Su Changxing, I just saved you all.”

The officer was momentarily stunned, knowing little about the Security Bureau, but chose to trust Su Changxing’s words. Anyone who would step forward to save them at this moment must be no ordinary person.

”Sir, we are from the garrison division, we were supposed to be stationed in the city but we were hit by a terrorist attack, many died, and we got scattered. We came here first.”

The officer saluted Su Changxing, his blood-stained face devoid of excess expression, as lifeless as the robots.

Su Changxing thought for a moment and asked, ”Terrorist attack? What do you mean?”

The officer froze, dazed, and replied:

”I’m not too sure, a lot of people just fell during a strange sound, and we had to urgently evacuate, making our way to the city and encountering those chain-wearing lunatics.”

Su Changxing surveyed the soldiers and said, ”I’ll temporarily take you all under my command. Follow me, and once I’m done with some things, I’ll lead you out of here. This area is quite dangerous right now.”

The officer hesitated and said, ”But... our mission is to defend the city; we can’t leave.”

Su Changxing gazed at the rolling black fog in midair, took out his identification, and said:

”With network communication down, you should adapt to the situation, and as a team leader from the Security Bureau, I have the authority to command you in such circumstances.”

The officer looked at Su Changxing’s credentials, then saluted and said:

”Sir, I’m the platoon leader of the third platoon of the garrison division, Deng Yiming, at your service.”

Su Changxing nodded and said calmly, ”Okay, organize your team, we’re moving out shortly.”

Deng Yiming looked at the robots behind Su Changxing in amazement:

”Sir, has our technology advanced this much? We even have combat-capable robots now.”

Su Changxing didn’t elaborate much and said seriously, ”Technology is indeed advancing rapidly, but such robots are still rare.”

Then.

He led the soldiers and robots forward into the city, which lay in ruins before them, with numerous corpses strewn across the streets, some buildings collapsed, and debris scattered everywhere.

Such a scene resembled hell, some soldiers turned pale, nearly retching, but fortunately, their resilience was not too bad.

Su Changxing’s expression was grave, his biggest concern being the gladiatorial slaves gathering together; he could handle one or two easily, but if the numbers grew, even he would have to retreat.

Furthermore, there might exist others even stronger than him.

”Whoosh~”

A faint breeze.

A black figure darted out from beneath a nearby vehicle, wielding a pitch-black curved sword.

The distance was too close, and in an instant, Deng Yiming couldn’t react, but V17 leaped with a flick of its leg in front of Su Changxing, raising a diamond-shaped laser shield.

Everything was perfectly timed.

V17 blocked the attacker’s blade but didn’t block the attacker.

Shrouded in a shadow cloak, the attacker blinked in front of Su Changxing and struck again with the blade.

The bizarre body technique was surprising.

Su Changxing took a step back, easily dodged, swung the scythe in his hand, the azure edge appearing, the blade tip pierced through the cloak, penetrating the attacker’s chest.

”A remarkable stealth skill.”

Su Changxing looked at him with ease, withdrew the scythe, and blood gushed like a fountain.

[Stealth Master: Tier Eight, merges with shadows, naturally a master of concealment, swift speed, and keen judgment.]

The attacker had a large hole in his chest, convulsing on the ground, muttering:

”You... will die here.”

Su Changxing frowned, realizing the attack was intentional, not accidental, and swung the blade again for execution, stealing his ability.

[Shadow Cloak (Rank C Crown, Lower Rank): Manipulates shadows, can conceal self within shadows, significantly enhancing agility.]

It seemed like a somewhat redundant ability, but it perfectly filled the stealing position, better to have it than not.

Deng Yiming finally reacted, looking at the corpse on the ground, with a more serious expression; had that person attacked him, he would surely have died:

”They must be Extraordinary individuals.”

Su Changxing looked at him with curiosity and said, ”Hmm? You know Extraordinary individuals?”

Deng Yiming replied honestly, ”There were rumors in the army about the apocalypse, it seemed like many had returned from the apocalypse, and the authorities never denied it; at the time, many were transferred from our division.”

Su Changxing mused, ”Those who returned from the apocalypse were all transferred?”

”That seems to be the case.” Deng Yiming replied.

Su Changxing surmised those individuals would be transferred to the Security Bureau and were still in this city, but their combat prowess wasn’t necessarily much higher than that of these armed soldiers.
