Chapter 432: Chapter 18: Streetlight

After leaving the hospital, Su Changxing ran towards the east side of the city, where the largest magazine company was located. Shen Jinxuan was a journalist in the real world and might be around there.

But it was also possible she was in another city.

Previously, he wasn’t too worried, as Jin’s strength was formidable and she should be able to handle ordinary situations. But now, the circumstances were different. The emergence of such powerful entities in the Black Fog World meant she’d be doomed if she encountered one.

Moreover, there was a high chance Shen Xuan might have perished during the apocalypse. Su Changxing wasn’t entirely sure what would happen if one of her personalities died.

People were fleeing on the streets, seemingly trying to leave this city for somewhere else, thinking other places might be safe at the moment.

This line of thinking wasn’t rare, and it led to the main roads being blocked due to traffic accidents.

Later, the military, having suffered devastating losses in a short time, halted their offensive and set up defense outside the Giant Anchor’s area, conducting blanket bombings with artillery.

Initially, this strategy was somewhat effective, but as the black fog gradually spread, the shells fired into the fog ceased making any sound.

Su Changxing visited several magazine companies in the east side of the city but couldn’t find Shen Jinxuan or gather any information about her. It seemed she wasn’t in this city. However, he did sense the presence of another Extraordinary, with a somewhat familiar aura.

He headed in that direction and amidst the crowd of people trying to escape, he suddenly recognized two familiar faces, Zhu Xin Xue and Zhu Wenwu, the sibling pair.

······

”Brother, trust me, this is the apocalypse. Running away won’t help. First, we need to find others, they should be in this city.”

Zhu Xin Xue tugged on Zhu Wenwu’s arm, walking against the flow of the crowd.

Zhu Wenwu looked surprised, exclaiming, ”Since when did you get so strong? Besides, with the military fighting in the city, it seems it’d be more dangerous to stay here.”

Zhu Xin Xue contemplated and confidently replied, ”It’s the same everywhere else, so wherever we flee, it should be about the same.”

Zhu Wenwu pondered for a moment and asked, ”Why do you say that?”

Zhu Xin Xue gestured with her hands and explained rapidly,

”Didn’t I tell you before? Because of the apocalypse, we went to another world. In the end, you and my master entered the No-Man’s Land, and then you died, so you lost your memory. But I didn’t die, so I remember everything.”

Zhu Wenwu was silent for a while, then said, ”Aren’t you making this up?”

Though he said this, he was starting to believe her because Zhu Xin Xue had changed so much all of a sudden, like a completely different person, and her clothes had become tattered. She held him and cried for a long time.

Zhu Xin Xue raised her hands and said,

”I swear with both hands, everything is true. So we need to find Boss Huang and the others in the gathering point right now.”

Zhu Wenwu considered it and said, ”But this isn’t a reliable strategy, and it’s very dangerous outside. Earlier, a plane crashed on the road, and several people died in the accident.”

Zhu Xin Xue retorted, ”Even if you hide in the house, you could get hit by a plane, choke while eating, or drown while drinking.”

”······”

Zhu Wenwu had to admit she had become quite articulate and said, ”Well, then what do you think we should do now?”

Zhu Xin Xue pointed to herself, proudly saying, ”I’m an Extraordinary. Within a certain range, I can sense the presence of other Extraordinary beings, so it’s easy to run into one while we wander around.”

Zhu Wenwu felt this plan was a bad idea, but it was still somewhat feasible and said, ”Alright, let’s take a look then······ By the way, was I an Extraordinary before?”

Zhu Xin Xue thought for a moment and said, ”Yes, but you weren’t as powerful as me.”

”Is that so?”

Zhu Wenwu doubted the truth of this.

Suddenly.

Zhu Xin Xue froze, staring blankly ahead with an incredulous expression.

”Zhu Xin Xue.”

Su Changxing saw the siblings and approached, calling out to them.

”Master?”

Zhu Xin Xue ran up excitedly and hugged Su Changxing tightly, saying, ”Master, you’re not dead? I thought you and my brother······”

Su Changxing glanced at Zhu Wenwu and said, ”It was your brother who saved me at that time.”

Zhu Wenwu looked at the blood on Su Changxing’s clothes and felt a chill, nervously smiling, ”So, you’re Zhu Xin Xue’s master?”

Su Changxing walked over, patted his shoulder, and smiled, ”I’m also your brother. It’s good to see you again.”

Zhu Wenwu half-believing, half-doubting, said, ”Did we really go to another world before?”

Su Changxing nodded and said, ”Indeed, you even became a powerful Extraordinary. It’s a pity.”

Zhu Wenwu was on the verge of reaching the edge of Tier Eight back then, and he even had the chance to step into Tier Eight by himself.

Hearing Su Changxing say this, he finally believed it all, feeling as if he had lost a piece of memory out of thin air.

”You should come with me first, let’s meet up with Zhou An and then make a plan.”

Su Changxing thought for a bit and said.

He already had a plan. They definitely couldn’t win against the people from the Black Fog World for now, so they needed to bide their time and strengthen themselves.

Su Changxing then looked at Zhu Xin Xue and asked, ”How is your Sister Jin Xuan? Were you together in the end?”

Zhu Xin Xue thought for a moment and said, ”We weren’t together in the end, but she should have survived.”

Su Changxing nodded and said, ”Alright, you still became an Extraordinary.”

Zhu Xin Xue raised her head proudly and said, ”Of course.”

Su Changxing led them to loop back from a place away from the Giant Anchor.

By this time, the artillery had stopped, and there were no more aircrafts temporarily in the sky.

Zhu Wenwu frowned and said, ”What are those things that even massive military force can’t handle?”

”Aliens, or you could say people from the Otherworld.”

Su Changxing thought for a while and said,

”The military should have realized by now that what they’re doing is largely ineffective. Those Giant Anchors remain unscathed under the artillery.”

Zhu Wenwu had finally started to catch his breath and said, ”Then what should we do? We need a strategy to deal with this.”

Su Changxing showed a slight smile and said,

”What you need to do is simple, become an Extraordinary. You were an Extraordinary before, so it shouldn’t be too difficult to become one again.”

”What’s that sound?”

Zhu Xin Xue looked ahead along the street and saw many people fleeing towards them.

Zhu Wenwu grabbed one of the fleeing men, who was overweight, and asked, ”What happened up front?”

The man broke free, gasping and said, ”There-there are monsters, you should run too.”

After saying this, he continued running, obviously terrified, unable to run any further, yet still running.

Zhu Wenwu hesitated, then tentatively asked, ”Shall we run too?”

Su Changxing stroked his chin and shook his head, ”No, let’s go see what’s happening.”

They had only taken a few steps forward when they saw a giant ”streetlamp” with legs walking slowly towards them.

The lamp was still glowing with an orange hue.
