Global Game: I Have Portable Store

Chapter 439: Chapter 25: Waiting for Someone

A barrage of intense gunfire.

Not far away, a squad of soldiers mounted machine guns on the military truck, sweeping away several marching crawling monsters, with bullet casings scattered all over the ground.

”These bastards... How many of them have we taken down?”

”Not sure, maybe the fortieth or fiftieth. We need to return to resupply ammunition; we’re no match for them barehanded.”

The flesh of these monsters seemed like it was covered in a layer of steel, with weaker firearms unable to even break their defenses. Heavy machine guns were the best choice.

The military truck slowly approached Su Changxing, and the soldiers on the truck saw him and shouted, ”There are quite a few monsters ahead, you’d better not go there.”

”Ha, leave the ones ahead to me.”

Su Changxing maintained a smile, waving the hand that held the pistol, wearing white gloves.

Seeing the pistol in Su Changxing’s hand, the soldiers became more solemn; a bullet could leave a hole in any of their heads.

Yet they didn’t say much and drove away.

This morning, the government issued a decree to lift the ban on firearms, which meant that ordinary people could also carry guns, and they planned to gradually distribute firearms to the public over time.

It was difficult for the army alone to hold back these monsters for an extended period; the only solution was to enhance the combat power of civilians.

Although this might lead to other issues, it was generally a good approach.

From a far distance, Su Changxing saw a few armored, ground-crawling, human-like monsters shooting from afar with pistols, bullets splattering out as if they were free.

To him, pistol bullets were indeed free now, as he didn’t need to buy them from a discount store; the Security Bureau could provide them.

However, revolver bullets were specially made and still could only be bought from the discount store.

Two bullets continuously pierced through one of the monsters, spraying crimson blood.

Blood?

Su Changxing was taken aback.

These monsters suddenly had blood; before, they were in a semi-illusory state.

After two shots from Su Changxing, its armor shattered, and its body quickly collapsed, falling to the ground with blood spreading across the gray-white stone slabs.

Its body did not disappear.

Su Changxing strode over and sliced open its chest with a knife, revealing a transparent but small crystal core.

”Is this the Extraordinary Crystal?”

He leaned down to pick up the bloody crystal, realizing it was indeed an Extraordinary Crystal, but incomplete, like a semi-finished product.

”You killed that monster. What is that thing?”

A tender voice suddenly called from behind.

Su Changxing turned around and saw a little boy crouched in a corner, wearing a white robe.

His presence was so faint that even Su Changxing didn’t notice him at first.

”A superpower?”

Su Changxing looked at him and smiled faintly, ”It’s very dangerous here, where are your family members?”

The little boy was silent for a moment and then said in a low voice, ”Family, what is that?”

Something’s odd.

Su Changxing sensed something unusual about him, suspecting that he wasn’t an ordinary human, and said, ”Anyway, you should leave here first.”

”Where to?”

The boy frowned slightly, retorting.

This left Su Changxing a bit stumped.

”Of course, wherever you came from, go back there.”

Su Changxing chuckled lightly.

The little boy looked up at the sky, showing an innocent smile, ”I’ve always been here.”

Something’s wrong.

Something’s wrong.

Su Changxing sensed something unusual about him too, but without immediately taking action, he cautiously retreated slowly. It’s best to be careful around unknown presences.

The little boy watched as Su Changxing retreated and smiled, saying, ”You have the aura of Chaos, it’s very dangerous, you’d better not go outside.”

Aura of Chaos?

Su Changxing was puzzled, licking his lips as he asked, ”What do you mean?”

”...”

The little boy remained silent, not replying.

Su Changxing retreated quite far, unable to feel the boy’s presence anymore, but could still see him squatting there, unmoving.

”What is this thing? Did the black mist bring it?”

Su Changxing mused on it, having no other immediate plan, and decided to send a message to cooperate with the military to seal off this area first.

Half an hour later.

A hulking blond man arrived with people at the location, seeing Su Changxing’s cordial face:

”Haha, Leader, I’m Luo Haotian, originally from the tenth squad, and as soon as I got your message, I rushed over from nearby.”

By then, Su Changxing had already removed his clown mask, returning to his original appearance, and nodded, ”There is a special presence over there. I want you to cooperate with the military and seal off the area; don’t let anyone else enter to avoid bigger problems.”

Luo Haotian didn’t ask why, patting his chest, ”Alright, Leader, leave it to me.”

Once the barricade was up and the area sealed, that little boy still squatted there, occasionally turning his head to smile at him.

Su Changxing hesitated for a moment and walked over again.

The little boy saw him and said, ”Oh, you’re back again. It feels like a long time has passed.”

A long time?

In reality, not much time had passed, maybe just about an hour.

”What are you doing here?”

Su Changxing thought for a moment and asked, feeling that the boy knew something.

The little boy looked up at the sky again and said, ”Waiting for someone. Someone said they would come back to find me, so I have to wait for them to come over, or they’ll have a hard time finding me if I leave.”

Su Changxing scrutinized the little boy again, noting that his attire didn’t resemble modern clothing at all. It was somewhat exotic, with a hint of ancient style, and he wore a jade necklace around his neck.

”How long have you been waiting?”

Su Changxing asked again.

The little boy showed a thoughtful expression and said, ”Probably not long; it’s just that the sky was dark before, and now it’s bright again.”

”What’s the name of the person you’re waiting for?”

”... I kind of forgot. His surname is Hong, and he always carried a long sword.”

”...”

Clearly, the person the little boy was waiting for wasn’t from modern times, and he probably wasn’t either.

However, Su Changxing didn’t think the boy was a ghost or anything, because the ”Pastoral Spirit” didn’t react.

”Squad Leader Luo, what’s your leader talking to?” A military officer watched the scene and couldn’t help but ask.

Luo Haotian was briefly stunned, then said solemnly, ”I’m not sure, but there’s definitely something. Our leader is a powerful Extraordinary, capable of seeing things that are invisible to us.”

The officer nodded, half-understanding, believing that firearms couldn’t solve this thing at all since it couldn’t even be seen, how could it be solved?

Su Changxing had no ideas for the moment, so he just said, ”Then wait for him here, I have other things to attend to.”

The little boy tilted his head to look at him and nodded, ”You’d better stay here; it’s dangerous outside, and you’ll easily be targeted.”

”What do you mean?”

”...”

The little boy looked at him but said nothing more.
