Chapter 436: Chapter 22: Leader of Group 17

”So you guys pushed them back?”

Su Changxing stared at him, smiled and said.

Lin Xiuyu shook his head, said gravely, ”Of course not. They left on their own, seeming not to have much curiosity about our world... more sadly, they see the people of our world as too weak to even qualify as slaves.”

”Ha, that’s probably why small-sized mammals have such strong survival skills.”

He was full of self-mockery, yet the corners of his mouth maintained a smile, making his real thoughts hard to discern.

Su Changxing thought for a moment and said, ”I don’t think they’ll let it go so easily, and just the black mist alone already puts us in a bad spot. If they can’t handle it, we definitely can’t.”

Lin Xiuyu shook his head and said:

”But you and I both know this isn’t necessarily a bad thing. What others throw away as trash may be good stuff for us.”

”And later, we’ll figure out a way to negotiate with the people of that world. We’re all intelligent beings, and fighting isn’t the only way; we can often take what we need from each other.”

At this point, the spacious living room only had the two of them, with the people Lin Xiuyu brought waiting in the courtyard.

Lin Xiuyu probably had other motives; otherwise, he wouldn’t have come all this way, and they seemed to be in quite a hurry.

Su Changxing yawned and bluntly said, ”So you’re not just passing by?”

Lin Xiuyu changed the subject and said, ”I heard you tangled with Chu Caiming? He is now recognized as the strongest Apocalypse under Chenxi, and I heard he killed two people from the Black Fog World before.”

”Tangled?”

Su Changxing raised an eyebrow, feigned surprise and said, ”Mm... It probably doesn’t count as tangling, more like probing. In that sense, he is indeed impressive.”

Lin Xiuyu’s lips twitched slightly, said calmly, ”According to our situation, you should be even more outrageous, almost took down a Black Fog World’s Tier Seven powerhouse.”

Almost?

Su Changxing nodded and said, ”Mm, that person was quite formidable. I nearly got counter-killed.”

In truth, he had killed two Tier Seven Extraordinaries; the first time, there was likely no one around, and the second time, he disguised himself as the Joker.

Lin Xiuyu paused a moment and continued:

”Also, I’m here this time to formally invite you to join the Security Bureau. Our boss said that if you come, at least you’ll have a leader’s position.”

Su Changxing pondered for a while and said, ”So, your boss got promoted?”

Lin Xiuyu patted his chest, nodded and said, ”Thanks to you, he’s already become the deputy chief, with a significant amount of real power. When the chief retires, our boss will be the chief.”

This indeed is a good choice.

Joining the Security Bureau means he could access more resources, and the Security Bureau’s influence now is not to be underestimated.

Su Changxing hesitated for a moment and asked, ”What about Huang Biao’s situation?”

He was a bit concerned it was the Security Bureau’s people who were behind Huang Biao’s situation, which would make joining difficult.

Lin Xiuyu thought for a moment and said, ”Mm, his situation is a bit strange. According to the intelligence we have, he voluntarily followed without any resistance, implying he knew the person who took him.”

”Moreover, we found out Huang Biao has a brother, but suspiciously, we can’t find any information on his brother’s identity.”

Su Changxing contemplated for a while, the situation was not quite as he expected, but it made more sense.

Huang Biao is very powerful and wouldn’t be easily taken away. Killing him might be possible, but he had used the Life Card earlier and knew Huang Biao wasn’t dead.

Lin Xiuyu pulled out a dark green certificate from his breast pocket, placed it on the table, and said:

”Here is your certificate; everything is prepared. You have two choices: taking over our boss’s previous position as the leader of Team 10, or becoming the leader of the newly formed Team 17.”

”Our boss suggests you take charge of the newly established Team 17; it’s easier to manage, you can select members, and you can incorporate other personnel, and we’ll do our best to support you.”

Su Changxing was momentarily stunned, although he had guessed, he hadn’t expected Lin Xiuyu to be so direct, chuckled and said: ”Does this mean you’ll be joining Team 17 too?”

Lin Xiuyu nodded, said helplessly:

”I wanted to be a team leader myself, but times have changed, and the hard strength of a team leader is very important. Quite a few incompetents have already been dismissed, plus there are political struggles, so yeah, you should get it.”

Su Changxing hesitated briefly but actually considered it many times, reached out for the certificate on the table, opened it and took a look, then put it into his coat, smiled and said:

”Alright, as you wish. I’m your boss from now on.”

The so-called shade under the big tree.

Joining the Security Bureau is undoubtedly his best option right now, from any angle, if he didn’t know people like Lin Xiuyu, he might have considered it more.

Upon hearing this, Lin Xiuyu visibly breathed a sigh of relief; if Su Changxing refused, it would be troublesome for him, especially since Su Changxing seemed to have refused once before.

Then he called in over ten people from outside, saying relaxedly:

”Let me introduce you; these people will be in Team 17 from now on. Their skills are decent, and there’s an Extraordinary here... You probably know.”

These dozen or so people all wore the Security Bureau’s uniform tactical suits, both men and women, sharing a common trait: they were very young.

Except for that Extraordinary, only two of them survived the apocalypse.

”Leader.”

”Leader.”

.....

Upon seeing Su Changxing, the others seemed relaxed, but that Extraordinary had an unusually serious expression, his cheeks even flush.

Su Changxing looked at him with a smile and said, ”It’s you, Zhang Shun, we indeed have a connection.”

Zhang Shun looked up at Su Changxing, smiled awkwardly and said:

”Ha, well leader, I wasn’t with the Security Bureau before, my uncle was, I just joined after returning to the present world.”

Su Changxing remembered the incident when Geng Yong was eliminated, knowing Su Changxing was ruthless towards traitors.

Su Changxing pointed at the sofa, chuckled and said: ”I don’t mind, and don’t stand there, sit down, squeeze in and there should be enough room.”

Being treated this way, Zhang Shun felt a chill, for Su Changxing was someone who dared to blow up the Black Tower and lived.

Su Changxing saw Zhang Shun hesitating there, said annoyedly: ”Sit!”

Zhang Shun instantly sat down, with a proper sitting posture.

The other people seeing Zhang Shun like this couldn’t help but wonder in their hearts, thinking about what kind of person this newly appointed leader is, to make an Extraordinary so respectful.

Considering now the status of Extraordinaries is quite high, becoming an Extraordinary in the Security Bureau means at least a team leader’s position.
