Wizard: Scamming a Demon God

Chapter 488: Chapter 356: Isaac: Can a Wizard Be So Stupid They Can’t Even Brew an Advanced Magic Potion?

Besides, even if you’re using Demons, they’re more convenient when you’ve modified them yourself!

For one thing, the power gained from burning away their life force was completely different.

Furthermore, though few Wizards of the Demon Dominator faction took it seriously, this school of magic had a minor flaw that still had an impact—the Abyssal Will!

The Abyssal Will, the only ”public bus” among the countless great Existences in the Boundless Void!

The entity was like a garbage can of the Void. It would take anything and could do something creative with whatever it got.

But even so, the Demon Dominators’ practice of taking endlessly without giving anything back would earn the resentment of even an entity as ”magnanimous” as the Abyssal Will. This manifested in a few ways: the more Demons that died in vain, the greater the initial Magic Power cost to summon them. At the same time, the difficulty of dominating them would also increase.

One can only imagine how vile the Demon Dominators must be to make the ”magnanimous” Abyssal Will resort to such measures!

Pah!

Even a Mad Witch knew this sort of thing had to be done on the sly!

However, the Abyssal Will’s magnanimity was also evident in this. As long as you contributed to the diversity of Demons, it would forgive your minor disrespect. And if you managed to create a truly superior species of Demon, Its ”reward” would be incredibly generous!

Not that anyone actually wanted it...

This was why many Demon Dominators actively developed new kinds of Demons, and Agares was no exception. He was eager to see what sort of Demon could be born from combining this world’s unique Power of Star God with Evil Energy.

However, looking at the Little Inferior Demon covered in fish scales on the operating table, Isaac didn’t need to use his Authority or Golden Finger to know that the results were less than ideal.

The good news: demon diversity had increased.

The bad news: *only* diversity had increased.

This was to be expected. The compatibility of Demon bloodlines was even stranger than that of a freaking Giant Dragon!

This was especially true for the Little Inferior Demon. Its bloodline evolutionary path was more bizarre than a circuit diagram. There was once a Demon Dominator who, after a series of experiments, successfully evolved a Little Inferior Demon into a Tier Two Deteriorated Snake Demon and then a Tier Three Six-armed Snake Demon, only for it to ultimately evolve back into a Tier Three Little Inferior Demon...

For trash like a Little Inferior Demon to advance to Tier Three was something of a Miracle in itself.

”Your thinking isn’t bad, but why not try injecting it with a Bloodline Stabilizing Magic Potion and a Bloodline-Targeting Magic Potion first? Don’t be so rigid with your experiments. Evil Energy’s ability to catalyze bloodlines is indeed unparalleled, but so is the chaotic nature of the Abyss. As a Wizard, you should advance step-by-step, using Knowledge as your foundation. Don’t act like a gambler, going all-in every single time.”

Seeing Agares’s experiment fail, Isaac offered his own timely advice.

Unlike with Soron, Isaac gave Agares fairly precise guidance on his experiment. It wasn’t that he thought little of Agares. On the contrary, any Wizard who advanced to Tier Three possessed Infinite potential and was worthy of his attention.

However, Agares’s fundamentals were indeed quite poor; the stench of his self-taught methods was overpowering. Broad, directional guidance was more suitable for him, as it would help him round out his own system of Knowledge more quickly.

”I know...” Hearing Isaac’s guidance, Agares subconsciously looked ashamed. The next moment, however, he shot Isaac a strange look. After all, the man standing before him, telling him not to ”go all-in,” was none other than the Wizarding World’s most infamous and reckless gambler—the Mad Witch!

That’s right. Isaac, who rarely paid attention to the latest gossip from the outside world, had no idea that among the Wizards of today, he had gradually acquired a rather succinct title: the Mad Witch!

In the past, ”Mad Witch” referred to a certain type of person.

Now, it referred to just one person!

”What’s wrong?” the completely oblivious Isaac asked, surprised by Agares’s strange expression.

”It’s nothing. You’re absolutely right.” Without much hesitation, Agares answered honestly. Then he added, somewhat awkwardly, ”Um... I know about the method you mentioned, but... I don’t know how to brew those two Magic Potions. I’m not very good at Magic Potion Science.”

”Hm? How is that possible?” Isaac’s brow furrowed. ”Aren’t you a High-level Mage? Those two Magic Potions are only Tier Three quality, right?” ℯℯ𝑙.

”Well...” Agares looked even more embarrassed. He raised a hand and explained meekly, ”I don’t have a talent for brewing Magic Potions... so...”

In truth, Agares’s situation wasn’t hard to understand. It was a predicament faced by many Legendary Mages. While it was true that Wizards were synonymous with powerful productivity, that all depended on the comparison.

Compared to Foolhardy Knights, they were, of course, a cut above. But when compared to Arcanists...

...well, that was a different story. It came down to the same old point: the Arcanists’ system for cultivating Knowledge was remarkably mature. In many fields, like Alchemy for example, their success rates were significantly higher than those of Legendary Mages, who often lacked proper lineages and had to rely solely on their own talent.

However, Isaac, having advanced so rapidly himself, had never really experienced the ”struggles of the common man” and was naturally unable to comprehend this. Thus, the look on his face was one of utter astonishment.

”No matter how bad your talent is, you’re telling me a High-level Mage can’t even brew a Tier Three Magic Potion? You need talent for *that*?”

”...”

Agares was speechless. At that moment, he finally understood how his own Grand Wizard teacher must have felt back when he had mercilessly surpassed him on the path of the Demon Dominator...

Seeing Agares fall deeper into silence, Isaac squinted at him for a moment before shaking his head in resignation. He casually tossed him a few bottles of Magic Potions.

”Use these for now. You wouldn’t be able to handle my other Magic Potions. I’ll find some time to brew a few vats for you.” Seeing Agares sink even deeper into gloom, Isaac sighed. ”Sometimes you need to think more broadly. Don’t limit yourself to the Magic Potion Science of Legendary Mages. When you have free time, try studying the Arcanists’ knowledge on the subject. Don’t be afraid of embarrassment; start from the very lowest Level. I’m not saying you need to become a Master of Magic Potions, but are you telling me you can’t even learn to brew a few standard potions?”

Agares’s lips parted, but no words came out. In the end, he simply nodded, resolved to follow Isaac’s advice.

’Perhaps... some of my ideas really do need to change...’

It just goes to show that the same words can have a completely different effect when spoken by different people.
