A Warm Marriage After Rebirth

Chapter 298: Chapter 298: Reaping What One Sows (Part 7)

Martin Quinn turned to leave, and only then did Faye Sterling react, struggling in terror. ”Let me go! I don’t want to go! I won’t go! You can’t do this to me! I’m the eldest miss of the Sterling family! You can’t treat me like this!”

”Mr. Quinn, please be the bigger person and forgive me just this once! It wasn’t on purpose! I really didn’t mean to! I can pay for your car! I can get you an identical one!”

Faye Sterling’s heart was completely consumed by terror. Nobility, status, dignity—none of it mattered in the face of fear. She couldn’t be bothered with any of it now. With tears and snot streaming down her face, she was a pathetic sight, a far cry from the proud and arrogant bearing she usually maintained as the eldest miss of the Sterling family.

”Who was it just now who said that as long as my anger was appeased, you would have no complaints no matter what I did? Who was it just now who said that people must be punished for their wrongdoings? Who was it just now who said that you reap what you sow? What, are you going back on your word already? You’re quick to eat your words, and I’ve never seen anyone do it so spectacularly.”

Martin Quinn threw every word Faye Sterling had said right back in her face, leaving her utterly speechless. ’Just a moment ago, she’d thought Seraphina would be the one getting dragged away! That’s why she had said all those things. How could she have ever imagined Martin Quinn would be so capable? Their plan had been flawless, yet he still found them out!’

”Mom, save me! Please, save me! I don’t want to be taken away!” In her desperation, Faye Sterling pinned all her hopes on Jasmine Faulkner.

Jasmine Faulkner was frantic as well. ’She’d heard more than once how terrifying Mr. Quinn was. If Maple fell into his hands, her life would be as good as over!’ ”Mr. Quinn—”

”Madam Sterling, you needn’t worry. I’m just planning to teach Miss Sterling a proper lesson in etiquette. I trust the Sterling family will have no objections. Of course, if you feel that you also need to learn some manners, Madam Sterling, I wouldn’t mind teaching one more.”

This time, before Jasmine Faulkner could even get her plea out, Martin Quinn had already shut her down completely. There was nothing she could do; after all, she had trapped herself with her own words. Besides, his threat was so potent that it scared her into silence.

Martin Quinn led Faye Sterling away. He paused at the doorway and looked back. ”Seraphina Sterling, I hope I’m in as good a mood the next time we meet.”

’What—’

’What was that all about? A warning? A threat? An insinuation? That damn Martin Quinn. I hope we never see each other again!’

Martin Quinn didn’t wait for a reply from Seraphina and left immediately, as if his parting words had been nothing more than a casual remark he gave no second thought.

And just like that, the birthday party intended to be Seraphina Sterling’s downfall came to an end. It had been an event full of twists and turns.

Jasmine Faulkner and her group had set out to frame Seraphina Sterling, but not only had their plot failed, they ended up sacrificing her own daughter in the process. As for Aiden Faulkner, he not only suffered a massive public humiliation but now also faced a colossal bill for damages. The banquet hall was an absolute wreck—everything that could be destroyed had been—and as the party’s host, she was the one who had to compensate for it all.

The biggest winner of the entire birthday party, however, was Seraphina Sterling. The story of a Sterling heiress with close ties to Mr. Hale and a good relationship with Mr. Quinn spread like wildfire throughout high society. From now on, even if Seraphina Sterling never attended another banquet, no one would forget that the Sterling family had such a daughter.

The ones who ended up most disgraced, however, were Jasmine Faulkner and Faye Sterling. It wasn’t because they were insidious and cunning enough to plot against Seraphina; such schemes were a dime a dozen among the elite families, and everyone, being from that world, was long used to it. No, the reason the two of them were humiliated was that they were simply too stupid. Two people plotting against one, and they still managed to get exposed. Their work was just plain sloppy.
