A Warm Marriage After Rebirth

Chapter 263: Chapter 263: Who is the Goddess (5)

’How did Seraphina Sterling manage to fit into this clique so quickly? I even gave the diamond bracelet I just got to Fiona Chapman as a gift, all to make Seraphina embarrass herself in front of everyone!’

But it had no effect at all! This was completely different from what I expected! Not only did Seraphina Sterling make a splash, but she was also getting along with everyone so well! Didn’t I just waste a diamond bracelet for nothing?!

When Kellan Sutton saw that Faye Sterling was unhappy, he stepped forward again, eager to please his goddess and ease her worries.

”Ahem! So Miss Sterling is quite generous. My eyes must have been playing tricks on me earlier! Welcome to our little group! Almost all of us go to the same school, so we all know each other well! And now with you, our ranks have grown!”

As soon as Kellan Sutton spoke, Seraphina Sterling clearly sensed a subtle shift in everyone’s expressions. The excitement, enthusiasm, and warmth from a moment ago suddenly vanished. It wasn’t surprising, though. Faye Sterling had been the leader of this group for years; she was still influential and held a great deal of sway over them.

Kellan Sutton, seeing his words have the desired effect, was quite pleased. ”I remember a game we often used to play at school—Finding the Goddess! Since there are so many of us here today, I propose we play it again!”

Fiona Chapman had also noticed that Faye Sterling was a little upset. Plus, when Seraphina Sterling had given her the gift, she hadn’t belittled it as the two of them had planned beforehand, which made Fiona feel a bit guilty. So, upon hearing Kellan Sutton’s suggestion, she eagerly agreed, stepping to the front of the living room in her princess-style shoes.

”Thank you all for taking time out of your busy schedules to celebrate my birthday with me. My friends and I have come up with a little game. Every gentleman here is holding a rose. In a moment, we’ll ask you to present your rose to the lady you believe is your goddess. In the end, whoever receives the most roses will be crowned tonight’s Goddess!”

As the hostess of the banquet, it was most fitting for Fiona Chapman to be the one to propose this. Faye Sterling was also quite satisfied with Fiona’s move. She shot a smug glance at Seraphina Sterling. ’I’ll make you see who the most popular one is, and who the *true* Miss Sterling is!’

Just as Fiona Chapman stepped down, Kellan Sutton took the microphone and added, ”Since so many of our esteemed elders are here, we won’t be bothering the older gentlemen with our little game, just in case their lovely wives get upset!”

Kellan Sutton’s words immediately livened up the atmosphere in the living room, drawing a ripple of laughter.

”All gentlemen voting must be under thirty years old! And since we’re excusing the older gentlemen, to be fair, the older ladies can’t be candidates for Goddess either! You can all just look forward to being the mothers of a Goddess!”

Seraphina Sterling glanced at Kellan Sutton. ’He’s a little cunning,’ she thought. ’The rules he’s proposed have conveniently eliminated all the conditions that would have been in my favor. A large portion of the guests here today are middle-aged men. Between what I just said and Felix Gallagher’s influence, I’ve likely made a good impression on them. If they were allowed to vote, chances are most of them would vote for me.’

’But with Kellan Sutton’s new rules, no man over thirty can vote. That leaves almost no one but Faye Sterling’s own clique. It’s obvious who will end up winning this ridiculous ’Goddess’ title.’

”Alright, let the voting begin!” After setting down the microphone, Kellan Sutton took the lead. He walked right up to Faye Sterling and presented his rose to her.
