A Warm Marriage After Rebirth

Chapter 291: Chapter 291: The Courting-Death Mother-Daughter Duo (5)

The Quinn family was large and influential, their connections a tangled web. Although Peter Quinn was as insignificant a figure as they came, he still bore the Quinn surname. As long as he didn’t go too far, most people were unwilling to argue with him. However, he was the type to take a mile when given an inch, often mistaking others’ courtesy for fear and growing ever more brazen.

Who could possibly like a troublemaker with no self-awareness, the kind of person who gets carried away with the slightest bit of encouragement?

”Who are you?” Seraphina Sterling furrowed her brow, trying to place the man standing before her, who was as fat as a woman about to go into labor. But after racking her brain, she still couldn’t figure out who he was or when they could have possibly crossed paths.

”The name’s Quinn. Peter Quinn! Ever heard of me?” Peter Quinn said with immense pride, jabbing a thumb at his chest as if the Quinn surname was the most impressive thing in the world.

Seraphina Sterling shook her head, her expression perfectly sincere. ”I haven’t.”

Peter Quinn’s expression stiffened. The woman standing beside him, quick on the uptake, immediately sensed his displeasure.

”You don’t even know our Master Quinn? You must be living under a rock! I’ve never seen someone so clueless—I’m speechless! But don’t worry, let me school you on some basic facts. This strapping, heroic man standing before you is Peter Quinn, from the Quinn Family of Aethelgard! Now you know!”

The woman’s arrogant expression made one want to slap her right across the face. Seraphina fought to control her urge to do just that. ”Oh, so you’re Master Quinn! Then you’ll have to forgive me. At your age, I’d have guessed you were an ’uncle’ at most; there’s quite a gap before you reach ’master’! I wonder how an old man like yourself keeps up appearances so well! The effect is amazing! You don’t look old at all! If you don’t mind, could you share your beauty secrets?”

The woman had clearly used the title ’Master’ to signify Peter Quinn’s lofty status, but coming from Seraphina, it was twisted to mean an elderly man. The difference in meaning was vast.

”Seraphina Sterling! You’ve got a death wish!” Peter Quinn was genuinely furious. No one had ever dared to speak to him in such a tone! Originally, he had only wanted to teach Seraphina a lesson on Martin Quinn’s behalf. But now, even if it wasn’t to curry favor with Martin, he was going to personally teach this reckless, arrogant brat a lesson!

”Oh, you mustn’t get angry, sir. Anger gives you wrinkles! After all those years of careful maintenance, you can’t let it all go to waste now!” Seraphina still wore a playful smile, paying Peter Quinn’s fury no mind at all.

Peter Quinn laughed in fury. ”Seraphina Sterling, is it? All skin and bones, yet you’ve got some nerve. To think you’d dare oppose the Quinn Family! You don’t even respect Mr. Martin Quinn! Not only did you hit Mr. Quinn’s Maybach, you even fled the scene? How many lives do you think you have, daring to offend our Mr. Quinn? Well today, I’m here to make you pay on his behalf!”

’Make me pay? Mr. Quinn?’ The brilliant light in Seraphina Sterling’s eyes grew even brighter. She glanced over at Jasmine Faulkner and Faye Sterling. ’So this was their plan. Pin what Faye did on me and make me the scapegoat! That way, they save Faye and get rid of me at the same time! What a brilliant scheme from this mother-daughter duo!’

’But they made one crucial miscalculation. They don’t know that Martin Quinn has already come to see me. With the hint I gave him, I’m sure someone with his resources can easily find out who really scraped his car and fled the scene back then!’

’I wonder what will happen when Martin Quinn finds out he’s been used by that mother-daughter pair!’
