Reincarnated as a Lizard

PTSH-!

As the three powerful humans simultaneously attacked the ancient dire wolf’s outstretched leg, it wasn’t able to put up much resistance as it was cleanly cut off by their combined might-

ROOOOAR-!

Resulting in the ancient dire wolf letting out a loud roar filled with pain as it retracted what little was left of its leg before ferociously attacking the three powerful humans filled with killing intent. Not holding back in the slightest as it unleashed all of its power to try and kill the three powerful humans who had dared cut off one of its legs.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

However, given the fact that it had now lost one of its legs, the fight that would originally have been on equal terms no longer seemed equal, as the ancient dire wolf couldn’t use its full strength with one leg missing.

Not only giving the three powerful humans the upper hand in their fight, but also giving the rest of the humans nearby the opportunity to join in on the fight without too much worry. Further tilting the battle in the favor of the humans.

If not for the fact that the ancient dire wolf was far stronger than anyone present and was tough enough to withstand both the constant bombardment of arrows and magic from the humans on top of the wall and those attacking it with swords and spears up close, it would have long since perished under such a deadly attack.

And watching all of this from the side, Scaly could not help showing an amazed look on her face. Feeling a sense of admiration towards the ancient dire wolf who was still standing strong despite its bleak circumstances.

Although she should be taking this opportunity to escape, she instead turned around and looked in the direction of the few humans who had been chasing her earlier.

Even though only one of the three humans had ended up dying in the earlier attack by the ancient dire wolf, the other two weren’t in a much better state. Only barely avoiding death at the expense of countless big and small injures.

Seeing this, Scaly couldn’t help feeling tempted. Remembering just how much her strength had increased from killing that one human on top of the wall.

Hm... If the ancient dire wolf is able to hold on for a bit longer, it shouldn’t be that difficult for me to kill these two and escape...

Narrowing both her eyes as she thought about this, Scaly didn’t hesitate any longer as she charged towards the two still recovering humans.

”Watch out! The lizard is attacking!”

Having also kept an eye on her just in case, one of the two humans quickly called out to his companion as he saw her charging towards them. Knowing very well that the two of them weren’t in the best shape after what had just happened, while at the same time understanding that there wouldn’t be anyone else helping them as they were busy with the ancient dire wolf that had finally weakened enough for them to stand a chance at killing it.

”Huh? It actually dares to attack us!?” Hearing what his companion said, the second human who was treating a large open wound running across his stomach that had been caused by one of the claws of the ancient dire wolf that he had just barely managed to jump out of the way of, turned to look at Scaly filled with disdain.

Making it clear that he didn’t view her as a serious threat even in his injured state.

Hmph! Hmph! I will kill this human first!

Felling insulted by the clear disdain shown towards her by this human, Scaly decided that he was going to be her first target among the two, as she directly used her water magic to conjure up a few water spears that she sent flying towards him without a second thought. Using her water magic for the first time since her escape from the human town.

”Huh!? W-water magic!? This lizard can use magic!?”

Seeing the water spears flying towards him at a terrifying speed, the injured human who had shown disdain towards Scaly just a second earlier could not help panicking. Not having expected Scaly to know magic.

”Get behind me!”

Whoosh-!

Bang!

Jumping out just in the last second with a large shield in hand, the first human barely managed to block the water spears from piercing through the disdainful human.

”T-thank you...” Feeling his heart in his throat as he barely escaped death, the disdainful human gratefully looked towards his companion as he said this.

”We don’t have time for that! Get ready to fight and be careful around the water magic!”

However, his friend didn’t dare relax in the slightest as he reminded him about the fact that they were in the middle of a battle, with Scaly only being less than a dozen meters away from the two of them at this point in time.

”I understand...” Nodding his head in a far more serious manner compared to before, the formerly disdainful human quickly drew his sword in preparation to face Scaly-

Chiiiing~!

And not a second too late, as he only barely managed to block her claws before she could reach him.

How unfortunate... I hoped I would be able to end this fast...

In turn, Scaly could not help letting out a somewhat disappointed sigh on her side, as she understood that she wouldn’t be able to end the battle in a short period of time any longer. Not that this stopped her from continuing to try and kill the two heavily injured humans.

Whoosh~ Bang!

Soon enough resulting in the three of them engaging in battle with Scaly having the upper hand due to her magic and the simple fact that she was less injured than the two humans.

Ptsh-!

As a result, it didn’t take long for her to breakthrough their defense and land a hit on the formerly disdainful human who was taking the forefront in facing her.

Although not enough to kill him, it significantly tilted the scale of the battle in her favor, as the two humans found it increasingly difficult to fight back without sustaining some injuries in return.

Of course, it wasn’t entirely one-sided, as Scaly also suffered quite a few injuries during the battle, but what she suffered was insignificant when compared to the two humans who were already half dead when she attacked them.

Chiiiing~ PTSH!

”AAaaaah!”

In the end, the formerly disdainful human made a mistake when confronting her and had his sword knocked out of his hand. Giving Scaly the opportunity to cut off the hand that had been holding the sword before he could retreat in time.

”Nooo!”

Bang!

Seeing this, the second human wielding a large shield rushed forward and stopped her before she could continue going for the kill, just barely allowing him to escape while clutching the bleeding area where his hand had once been.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Not intending to just allow the human to escape like that, Scaly upped the pressure as she continued violently attacking the shield in an attempt to break past it, while also using her water magic to try and force the shield wielding human into awkward position-

Ptsh~

And as things continued like that, she finally managed to pass the defense of the shield wielding human. Piercing directly through on of his arms that caused him to lower his shield and open up an opportunity for her to attack his more vital points-

PTSH-!

”Ah...”

”Nooo! Billy!”

In the end, resulting in one of her claws piercing into his throat. Killing him on the spot, as his body slowly slumped to the ground with the scream of his companion calling out to him from behind.

Ignoring the large increase in strength following the death of the shield wielding human, Scaly instead focused her attention on the last remaining human who was still in the process of bandaging his heavily bleeding arm where his hand had once been while looking towards her filled with hatred.

Hehe, the last one should be simple to kill-

ROOOOAR-!

Just as she was about to rush over and finish this human off, a loud roar interrupted her and forced her to turn around.

Only to see the ancient dire wolf starting to retreat from the battle under the constant pressure from the large number of humans.

Oh no! My chance to escape!

Knowing very well that she wouldn’t stand any chance at escaping if the ancient dire wolf wasn’t around to keep the humans at bay for her, Scaly could only reluctantly glance back towards the hateful human before turning to escape in the direction of the forest.

Although she wanted to kill him for the increase in strength, she still understood that doing so might result in her own death... And that was not something she intended to gamble on...
