Reincarnated as a Lizard

Faced with the terrifying killing intent of a person who had already steeled himself for death and was ready to use every last bit of his remaining strength trying to kill her, Scaly could not help feeling a sense of both awe and fear that she hadn’t felt before.

Swish-!

Chiiiing~

Even then, she didn’t hesitate in the slightest as she used her claws to block the sword that came flying towards her, while at the same time using what little mana she had managed to recover so far to use the simplest form of water magic to prevent the flames that had covered the sword from burning her by drenching the sword in water before it made contact with her claws.

”Water magic!? Indeed, not a simple lizard...” Noticing the water magic, the frown on Galahad’s face deepened even further as he muttered this to himself before giving up on wasting his mana on trying to burn Scaly. Understanding that it would be impossible to cause any real damage to her with her mastery of water magic.

Fwooooosh-!

Instead of that, he decided to focus his remaining mana on using a special skill that enhanced his own strength. Deciding to try and overwhelm Scaly through sheer strength!

It worked... Good thing he didn’t try to use the flame sword again...

Of course, Scaly was more than happy to see this, as just the water ball she had used to put out the flame sword had already drained close to seventy percent of the mana she had managed to recover during her long escape.

If Galahad had really insisted on continuing to use the flame sword to fight her, he might have not just been able to inflict serious injuries on her but might also have had a chance of escaping from his current deadly situation.

Unfortunately, he had no idea about this and did what he did because he thought it was his best option. After, it was clear to him that the mana used by him to create the flame sword was far more than what Scaly had used to extinguish it.

Chiii~!

Swish!

Chiing!

Like this, the two of them continued to clash with each other in the small space that they could move around inside the swamp without ending up in the murky swamp water that was now brimming with life after the recent slaughter caused by Galahad attracting even more swamp alligators to come over.

Swish-!

PTSH!

However, as the battle dragged on, the exhaustion that had built up during his escape from the countless swamp alligators, finally started to set in. Allowing Scaly to slip through his defenses and land a clean attack directly on his chest.

”Ah!”

Feeling the pain of his chest being torn apart by Scaly’s claws together with seeing the large amount of blood that started to pour out of the large open wound that had been left behind, Galahad understood that his time had come.

Even if he managed to somehow escape back to the town and get treatment from a healer, a wound like this was untreatable by any of the healers currently present in the town and he would die before he could leave the dungeon.

”DIIIIEE!”

As these thoughts bubbled up in his head, Galahad completely lost it and lunged towards Scaly with a killing intent that seemed even more terrifying than that of the gnoll chieftain and forest rabbit lord-

Swish~

Ptsh!

[Gained 2650 Exp]

However, because of this reckless attack, Scaly managed to easily slip under him and use her sharp claws to directly slit his throat. Killing him before his sword had the time to reach her.

Thump~!

And just like that, Galahad died, with his body slumping down on the ground next to her.

Hehe, so much exp! Almost enough to directly level up in one go!

Of course, Scaly didn’t spare his body a single glance, as she was instead focused on the large amount of exp she had just gained.

Even though she was exhausted and had used most of her strength during the fight just now, she still had some energy left and hadn’t reached the point where she was about to faint like she had done after the forest rabbit ambush she had experienced back in the forest.

I wonder how much my status changed; I should have reached level 12 by now...

Filled with curiosity over her own progress after the large number of forest rabbits and gnolls she had killed, together with the human knight, Scaly could not help turning her attention towards her status.

Name: Scaly

Race: Ancient Water Dragon Lizard

Level: 12/30, 73%

STR: 72 |VIT: 145| DEX: 57 | M: 144

Skills: [Dragon Bloodline lvl 3], [Flight lvl 1], [Water Magic lvl 7], [Poison Resistance lvl 2], [Claw Strike lvl 4]

Outside of the fact that her magic was now only a single point away from surpassing her vitality, her claw strike skill had also managed to level up to 4 after her visit to the injured forest rabbits and intense battle with the human knight.

Although checking out the description of the skill didn’t show anything new, she could inherently feel that it had gotten stronger when she focused on sensing its strength while swinging down one of her claws.

Hehe, I’m almost halfway to my next evolution!

Smiling happily as she thought this to herself while closing her status, Scaly glanced down at the dead human knight before turning around to leave.

Now that the human knight had been dealt with and she no longer had anyone chasing after her trying to kill her, she could finally find a place to rest and recover her strength. Even if she had been covered in mud and things were unlikely to change before she left the swamp again, Scaly had no energy to search for anywhere to rest outside the swamp... And in the end, she ended up settling down inside a hollowed-out swamp tree that had an entrance just big enough for her to fit through.
