Reincarnated as a Lizard

Whoosh-!

However, just as Scaly was prepared to face off against the annoying human in a final battle, the human in question turned around and ran away without fighting her.

Why is he running away!? Wasn’t he about to attack me just now!?

Not understanding why the annoying human, who looked like he was about to rush at her and try to kill her at the price of his own life, had decided to run away, Scaly could not tilting her head in confusion as she watched him rush through the muddy ground without any signs of slowing down.

Ah! I can’t just let him leave like this!

Shaking herself awake from the strange state of surprise she had found herself in after the sudden escape of the annoying human, Scaly rushed forward in pursuit. Not intending to let him leave. Especially so after she had become aware of just how much killing a single human would increase her strength.

In the back of her mind, she even felt that there was a chance that she would be able to reach level 16 if she managed to kill the annoying human.

Whoosh-!

For this reason alone, she couldn’t allow the annoying human to escape from her!

...

At the same time Scaly was chasing after the annoying human who had decided to run away instead of staying behind to fight her, the gnoll chieftain and forest rabbit lord were huddled together in the middle of the battlefield that had taken place between the forest rabbits and gnolls not too long ago.

S-squeak!

R-r-roar...!

A few hundred meters away from the two, both the forest rabbits and gnolls were looking towards both of them filled with despair- Well... Not them, but the human who was standing in front of the two monsters.

Only a few hours earlier, this human had arrived chasing after their injured lord and chieftain, causing the forest rabbits and gnolls, who had come to a momentary peace following their leaders leaving, to work together in attacking this human.

However, the battle that took place following this decision by the gnolls and forest rabbits could only be described as a one-sided massacre, as the human hadn’t shown the slightest bit of care towards them as he easily tore apart any who approached him with ease.

In the end causing the gnolls and forest rabbit to retreat and watch their leaders being beaten from a distance over the past few hours, as not a single one of them were strong enough to interfere in the battle that was taking place...

Back to the present, the terrifying human that had even made the fearless Scaly feel a shiver run down her spine, turned to look directly at the two monster leaders. ”Hmph, this is the end for both of you. Although you two did hold up far better than I expected. Taking me over a day to deal with. Impressive considering your current state.”

R-ROOOAR-!

SQUEEAAAK!

Knowing that the human in front of them intended to kill them, the gnoll chieftain and forest rabbit lord who had already run out of strength after managing to survive for over a day with the terrifying human chasing after them, let out one last defiant roar together, as they both seemed to find a new source of energy to charge towards the terrifying human.

”Hmph! Merely a last struggle at death’s door!”

Not faced by this combined last-ditch effort to kill him and save themselves from their current situation, the terrifying human stretched out both his hands and gathered a strange energy in them before grabbing towards two massive monsters charging towards him--

Bang! Bang!

R-roar!?

Squeak!?

”DOWN!”

BOOOOM!

And without much suspense, the two monsters came to a stop, as the terrifying human slammed both of them into the ground. Creating a large creator around the two monsters in the process, while also killing the two on impact.

”Time to head back” Seeing the two dead monster leaders on the ground, the terrifying human didn’t spare them a single glance as he grabbed both of them and began dragging their bodies back with him.

”Ah, now that I think about it, I also need to check up on that lizard that brat Galahad went to catch and...” Only barely hearing these words from the terrifying human as he disappeared behind the trees together with the bodies of their leaders, the gnolls and forest rabbits simultaneously let out a sigh of relief after his disappearance.

Growl...

Squeak...

In the end, due to the loss of their two leaders, the forest rabbits and gnolls had no idea what to do as they just looked at each other for a few minutes before the strongest among them that were still alive went up to converse with each other about what to do, one being a big forest rabbit close to level 40, while the other was a gnoll shaman of similar strength that had learnt a special spell allowing him to communicate with the forest rabbits in their own language of squeaking sounds.

Squeak... Squeak, squeak. Squeeeaaak!

Squeak, squeak, squeak... Squeak, squeak...

Following the conversation between the two strongest entities left among the two monster races starting, a profound conversation pertaining the future of the forest rabbits and gnolls took place, a conversation that would go down in the history books as the day that the forest rabbits and gnolls joined forces to fight against the humans who once dominated the third floor of the Howling Caverns!

...

Unaware of all this, Scaly continued to chase after the annoying human who had managed to get a big lead on her because of how she had first blanked out when he ran away instead of fighting her.

Although she had managed to close the distance by a lot due to the other party being slower than her and being dragged down by his still wet armor, she was nowhere close to catching him... And the longer the chase dragged on, the more she began worrying about him getting out of the swamp and entering the mountainous terrain that swarmed with humans everywhere.

Even though she had been able to run through that place in the past, she also understood that the only reason the humans hadn’t bothered her was due to the gnoll chieftain and forest rabbit lord that had been chasing after her.

Even worse, she could do nothing to slow down the annoying human and prevent him from running away, as she had used up all of her mana for a chance to kill the five weakened humans without encountering any problems along the way.

Well... It wasn’t entirely true that she had no mana, but one or two water balls wouldn’t do much to the annoying human, let alone be enough to loosen the ground beneath his feet whenever he passed over an unstable area and drop him into the swamp water...

”Haha! Finally, back! Just you wait little lizard, I will come back for you again in the future after recovering!”

In the end, she could only begrudgingly watch as he broke through the outer edge of the swamp and arrived back on the mountainous terrain that could be considered human territory-

Swish-!

However, given that she didn’t spot any humans nearby when she similarly emerged from the swamp in hot pursuit, Scaly decided to try and see if she could catch him before any of the humans could come to the rescue.

After all, it wasn’t that much of a risk considering that she had the swamp just behind her and could always escape if she saw a large number of humans rushing over. The mountainous terrain with nothing outside of a single lone tree every now and then making it rather easy to spot others.

[Human, Fist Master, lvl 62]

However, her thoughts took a full hundred and eighty degree turn when she spotted a familiar figure emerging from a forest in the distance-

[Forest Gnoll Chieftain, lvl 51 (dead)]

[Forest Rabbit Lord, lvl 49 (dead)]

However, the most terrifying thing was not the fact that his level seemed to have increased compared to the past, but the two monsters that he was dragging along with him.

The two monsters that she had been escaping from not too long ago...

The two monsters who had made her see the power of level 50 monsters fighting for the first time...

And the two monsters she had silent put forth as her goal for improvement... Had been killed!

At the same time Scaly noticed him, the terrifying human also noticed her, causing a somewhat confused expression to appear on his face.

”Hm? Is that... The lizard from earlier? And Carl? Why is he- Hm!?”

However, the confusion soon disappeared as he seemed to have realized something-

Swish-!

And not a second later he let go of the two dead monsters and shot towards Scaly at a terrifying speed far surpassing anything she had seen before.

Although she was right next to the swamp at this point in time, she didn’t dare hold back when faced with such a terrifying human, as she used all of her strength to run away, something she had been doing a lot lately...
