Reincarnated as a Lizard

Bang!

As she clashed head-on with one of the two ancient dire wolf cubs, Scaly could not help frowning to herself as she clearly felt the injuries that she had yet to fully recover from starting to act up.

Even if she had laid around for a few minutes to recover her strength and thought she would be more than strong enough to fight off the three humans, the first clash between her and one of the ancient dire wolf cubs instantly forced her to reconsider her earlier thoughts.

Not only was she weaker than normal, but she was also far more injured than she had first thought. Impacting her the moment she started fighting the first ancient wolf cub. Not to mention when the other one joined in together with the three humans following behind the two.

Damnable, I can’t even continue fighting like this!

Frowning with discontent as she realized that she wouldn’t even be able to fight off the five for a period of time while thinking about another solution to the problem of escaping, Scaly could only use the force of the second ancient dire wolf cubs attack to jump back and escape from the battle.

However, even if she escaped from the two ancient dire wolf cubs and three humans, she couldn’t run too far, as the humans on top of the wall were eyeing her from a distance. Ready to switch their attention from the large ancient dire wolf towards her the moment she got far enough away from the humans fighting the ancient dire wolf cubs-

Thump~

Thump~

Even worse, she saw two of the humans atop the wall jumping down before rushing straight towards her, both of them being around the later stages of level 40. Not someone she could deal with when fully recovered, let alone now that her state was worse than normal.

Whoosh~!

As the two strong humans landed on the ground and made their way towards the small battlefield, they kept most of their attention focused on the large ancient dire wolf being held back by the strongest humans from the dungeon town.

”Ignore the ancient wolf cubs or the big one might go crazy and rush over here. At that point all of us will die!”

”You don’t have to tell me; I can already feel that things gaze locking on to us.”

Arriving at the small battlefield, it did not take long before the two split off and rushed towards Scaly after coming to an agreement of not attacking the ancient dire wolf cubs.

Knowing very well that there would be no way for them to escape if the ancient dire wolf went crazy with the death of the ancient dire wolf cubs and targeted them.

Even if it would be beneficial for the town as a whole if the ancient dire wolf went crazy and far easier to attack, they had no plans of sacrificing themselves for that and instead decided to ignore the ancient dire wolf cubs as they made their way towards Scaly who was now starting to seriously panic.

What do I do now!?

As the two ancient dire wolf cubs and three humans stopped chasing after her following the arrival of the two powerful humans, Scaly wasn’t the slightest bit relieved and instead began looking around herself for anything to help her escape from her current situation.

Ah! Perhaps I can go to the battlefield between the powerful humans and the ancient dire wolf...? After all, in such a place, it shouldn’t be easy for those two to chase after me. Not to mention the powerful humans there are far too busy trying to survive to mess with me and I should be able to get closer to the forest that way...

Focusing her attention on the place where the powerful humans and the ancient dire wolf were fighting with each other as she thought about this, Scaly knew just how dangerous it would be for her to approach that battlefield, but... She didn’t really have much of a choice about where she could go with the two powerful humans chasing after her.

Not to mention, even if the humans on top of the wall could start hurling their magic and arrows towards her, she should still be able to stick close to the humans and avoid any too powerful attacks being launched her way.

Swoosh-!

Not wasting any time after coming to a decision, Scaly rushed forward towards the large dire wolf and powerful humans. Making both the humans behind her and those in the process of fighting the ancient dire wolf show a somewhat surprised expression on their faces as none of them expected her to rush towards the most dangerous place on the vast grassy fields outside the town.

Then again, there wasn’t any other place she could go to, as she would have been targeted down and killed by the mages and archers on top of the walls if she tried to go anywhere else.

At least by making use of the fact that there were still humans present around the ancient dire wolf, she would be able to limit the amount of power in the attacks launched towards her.

After all, they had to not only avoid hitting their own people, but also avoid putting the people into a bad situation that would give the ancient dire wolf a chance to take advantage of the situation.

”This lizard is really bold...”

”Yeah... Should we continue following it?”

”No, I don’t want to risk my life just for this little thing. Not to mention, I doubt it will be able to survive for long in that place.”

Recovering from their surprise over where Scaly had decided to escape, the two humans who had jumped down the wall to chase after her stopped chasing her as they began to retreat back towards the wall again. Neither of them feeling eager about entering a battlefield far beyond their own level. Especially considering that their actions earlier had drawn the attention of the ancient dire wolf.

Even though they didn’t do anything to the ancient dire wolf cubs, there was no saying if the ancient dire wolf would attack them the moment it got the chance to do so. After all, both of them were far too weak to resist it for even a moment.

Roooar-!

Arriving at the battlefield between the ancient dire wolf and the powerful humans as the two that had been chasing her turned around and returned to the town, Scaly could not help feeling a shiver run down her spine as she inspected the different humans embroiled in battle with the ancient dire wolf.

[Human, Elemental Knight, lvl 62]

[Human/Dwarf, Hammer Master, lvl 61]

[Human, Grand Explorer, lvl 67]

Outside of these three powerful humans no less powerful than the terrifying human she had encountered in the past, with one of them even standing up above the other two to singlehandedly be the main combat force in the battle with the ancient dire wolf, there was also around a dozen or so humans that had at least reached level 50 working together with them to suppress the ancient dire wolf.

Just from watching how the ancient dire wolf managed to fight back against so many powerful humans by itself, Scaly could not help feeling a hint of admiration towards this powerful monster.

In the future, I will also be that strong- No, I will be even stronger, and I will destroy the human town that you couldn’t destroy!

Thinking this to herself as she stared towards the ancient dire wolf filled with a burning desire to grow stronger herself and be capable of confronting an entire human town by herself, Scaly didn’t stop moving as she skillfully maneuvered across the battlefield in the direction of the forest not too far away.

”That lizard is here! Be prepared and kill it if you get a chance, the guild will reward ten times the normal monster bounty value avenging dead guild members falling in the dungeon.”

Just as Scaly felt that everything was going quite well with the humans pretty much ignoring her presence as they were far too focused with not dying to the ancient dire wolf, the strongest among the humans suddenly called out loudly to the rest of the humans... And even though she had no idea what he meant by bounty value and reward; she could clearly feel the change in the humans present.

Not just them, even the two humans about to climb back up the wall and back to the safety of the town froze on the spot as they turned to look back towards Scaly with a hint of greed in their eyes.

The reason for this was simple, as the bounty awarded by killing Scaly would be counted depending on the strength of the human she killed.

Although tempting normally, it wasn’t enough for someone to risk their life, but... If it increased by ten times... Now that was a different situation...
