Celestial Night Emperor

Chapter 49: Chapter 49: Just Who Is on the High Seat?

Shenyuan Shan’s face was dark, and beside him, Shen Meng Jun wore an equally frosty expression.

The moment the members of the Shen Family walked in, all eyes in the room were drawn to them.

The Gu Family was utterly dumbfounded.

Gu Weiqi and Gu Yuxuan approached, looking completely crestfallen. They bowed again and again, apologizing, ”Mr. Shen, Miss Shen, our Gu Family has truly handled things poorly today. Perhaps we should get together another time?”

The Gu Family had been thoroughly humiliated and desperately didn’t want Shen Meng Jun to witness this scene.

Shenyuan Shan said nothing, his eyes scanning the room for Qin Tianxuan.

Shen Meng Jun, however, rushed across the room in pleasant surprise and stood right beside Qin Tianxuan.

”Sir, we’re late. But why did the Gu Family come to your company?”

Gu Yuxuan’s eyes were filled with jealousy, his entire being practically burning with it as he watched his goddess stand beside that man.

And what’s more, Shen Meng Jun was even tugging on Qin Tianxuan’s sleeve, an impossibly intimate gesture.

With a loud WAIL, Gu Yuxuan actually stomped his foot and cried, ”Meng Jun, don’t be like this! Please, don’t do this! I’m your Prince Charming! I’ve been chasing you for so long! I even prepared a ring to propose to you!”

His composure completely shattered, and he looked like a wronged, petulant child.

Everyone in the room looked on with contempt.

’This... this is the so-called young master of the Gu Family?’

’How mortifying!’

’It’s so cringeworthy I’m getting goosebumps.’

Gu Weiqi’s vision went black, and he nearly fainted on the spot.

But Shen Meng Jun just frowned in disgust and pointed a finger at Gu Yuxuan. ”Can someone get him out of here? He’s making me sick.”

Gu Weiqi walked forward, his face grim. He raised his hand and gave his wailing son two hard slaps.

”You useless trash! What a disgrace!” He looked as if he wanted to kick the bastard to death. ”You have disappointed me beyond words!”

Wiping away his tears, Gu Yuxuan sobbed, ”Dad, I can’t swallow this humiliation! Is our Gu Family really finished?”

Gu Weiqi composed himself and turned to stare at Qin Tianxuan. ”We admit defeat this time. But don’t get complacent. As they say, the mountains are high and the rivers are long. We’ll meet again!”

What?

Before Qin Tianxuan could speak, Shenyuan Shan burst out laughing. ”Old Gu, are you out of your goddamn mind? Making threats on someone else’s territory? Why don’t you take a good look at yourself? This is the Dongshen Financial Group!”

Gu Weiqi’s face went white as a sheet. ”You... what did you say? You mean this man, Qin... he’s with the Dongshen Financial Group...?”

Wang Hou sneered. ”Still haven’t figured it out? The Dongshen Financial Group is just a minor enterprise of our master. It was a conglomerate established on a whim to make his daily life in Su City more convenient. Got it?”

With a THUD, Gu Weiqi fell to his knees.

As one of Su City’s preeminent figures, he understood the power of the Dongshen Financial Group better than anyone!

Wang Hou slowly walked over and leaned down to look at him. ”You’re kneeling just because of the Dongshen Financial Group? Do you know our master’s former identity?”

”May I ask... may I ask who Mr. Qin used to be?” Gu Weiqi’s head was buzzing.

Wang Hou stated coldly, ”The Northern Domain Night Emperor!”

’Heavens!’

An icy chill shot up from the soles of Gu Weiqi’s feet to the crown of his head.

’The Northern Domain War God, the Night Emperor who defeated the Celestial Demon?’

’The Night Emperor who is number one in the world in power, prestige, and wealth?’

Gu Weiqi’s eyes glazed over. He was stunned for a long moment, then he suddenly prostrated himself on the floor and began kowtowing desperately. ”This humble one was ignorant! This humble one was wrong! I only beg you to let me live! Please, let me live!”

He yelled, all sense of dignity gone.

Seeing his stupid son Gu Yuxuan still standing there in a stupor, Gu Weiqi viciously kicked him to the floor.

The father and son lay there in a pathetic heap.

Qin Tianxuan gave a slight wave of his hand.

Wang Hou then looked at the others in the room. ”Everyone may disperse. And remember, keep your mouths shut!” he said with a fierce expression, miming zipping his lips.

Everyone in the room bowed, trembling in fear. They were so shaken that they didn’t even know how they managed to leave.

On the floor, the father and son duo of the Gu Family were still trembling.

Qin Tianxuan sat down, his expression cold. ”I will say this one more time, and it will be the last. Niannian is my daughter; she has nothing to do with your Gu Family. You were the ones who broke off the engagement, so stop pestering Weiwei! If you violate either of these two points again... Heh, then the Gu Family will disappear forever!”

Gu Weiqi kowtowed as if he were pounding garlic, desperately agreeing.

”Also, you owe Weiwei, Uncle Han, and Aunt Jiang an apology. A sincere one.” Qin Tianxuan picked up his teacup, gently blowing on the turquoise tea leaves. ”Arrange it yourselves. Oh, and my precious daughter should be asleep by now. Do not disturb her.”

Gu Weiqi and Gu Yuxuan scrambled out of the banquet hall, practically crawling over each other. They rushed off to prepare gifts without a moment’s hesitation, a single thought dominating their minds: apologize immediately, then move the entire family away.

There was no longer a place for them in Su City.

”Son, this is a catastrophe for our family. You must remember this: offending a run-of-the-mill tycoon isn’t so scary, because there are always mutual interests, ways to make amends. But if you offend a true paragon among men, you’re finished!”

”But why, Dad? You think Mr. Qin will still torment us?”

”No! A man of Mr. Qin’s stature won’t torment us further, not after giving us a chance to live. What we have to fear are the people around him!”

Gu Weiqi saw things clearly. ”Mr. Qin might just laugh it off, deeming it beneath him to personally take action. But the people around him won’t think the same way. Any one of them, even a mere attendant, could crush us as easily as an ant!”

Gu Weiqi had to seize this opportunity. He was determined to apologize with the utmost sincerity.

He prepared all manner of gifts, of course, but he also changed into a set of plain clothes and swapped his expensive leather shoes for an old pair, dressing to look as pathetic and shabby as possible.

They waited all the way until dawn. Estimating that Mr. Qin’s daughter would be awake by then, the Gu father and son finally worked up their courage and set out.

Before long, they arrived outside the small courtyard Han Biwei was renting, only to find the area already packed with luxury cars.

”Shit! These bastards, they’re all as cunning as devils!” Gu Weiqi immediately grew anxious.

Gu Yuxuan’s eyes went wide. ”These cars... aren’t these from the people who were at our banquet? They’re shameless! They’re trying to get ahead of us to apologize!”

”Quick, faster! We have to be the first ones inside to apologize!” Gu Weiqi charged toward the gate like a man possessed.
