Celestial Night Emperor

Chapter 13: Chapter 13: Zhao Family’s Five Tigers, Twelve Fierce Wolves

A storm was brewing.

Without warning, dark clouds had blanketed the skies over Jiangning. A downpour was imminent.

An autumn storm carried with it a sense of foreboding.

Inside the Zhao Family Mansion, Zhao Tianxiong was pacing restlessly. He’d already made hundreds of calls, but there was still no news from Young Master Jiang!

Outside, the sound of urgent footsteps approached.

His second brother, Zhao Tianying, burst in, panicked. He just stood there, trembling.

”What happened? Stand up straight!”

”B-Big Brother, it’s bad! It’s terrible! Wuji... Wuji has been killed!”

Zhao Tianxiong’s eyes went vacant. ”Who? Who was killed?”

”Wuji! Your son! He was buried at the South City Orphanage... without even a coffin...”

Zhao Tianying wiped his tears and shakily held up his phone.

On the desolate land in the south of the city stood thirty-eight pits.

The names of Zhao family members could be faintly seen on signs staked before each one.

Zhao Tianxiong swayed. With a retch, he spewed a mouthful of black blood.

He collapsed.

The rest of the Zhao family rushed over, patting his chest and back. The scene was one of utter misery.

After a long, long time, Zhao Tianxiong slowly pushed himself up and sank back into the main chair in the center of the room.

Zhao Tianying could only offer a rough guess of what had happened at the scene.

He didn’t know the details either.

”We’re just unlucky. That Young Master Jiang got targeted by the higher-ups. I heard even Governor Jiang Qianjun almost got taken down. We ran headfirst into their cleanup operation, and now even some piece of trash thinks he can walk all over us!”

Zhao Tianxiong wasn’t listening.

His former caution and composure had vanished.

”Relay... relay my orders! Have the Zhao Family’s Five Tigers get here before sunset! Tell them to bring as many men as they can!”

Zhao Tianxiong’s voice was hoarse, the blood on his mustache already dried. ”And my twelve adopted sons! Call them all here! Everyone is to wear mourning clothes and carry the coffin for my son’s procession!”

BANG! He smashed the coffee table beside him.

Amidst the CRASH of shattering glass, the storm outside finally broke.

Between heaven and earth, there was nothing but a black curtain of rain.

In the miserable wind and rain, Zhao Tianxiong looked up, his eyes bloodshot. ”My son, Wuji... even if he was a murderer and an arsonist who committed every crime imaginable, he was still my son! If I don’t avenge him, I’m not worthy of being a father!”

Zhao Tianying and the others were already scrambling into action. The Zhao Family was mobilizing the full might it had accumulated over many years—the entire force of Jiangning’s number one clan!

The Five Tigers! They held positions throughout Jiangnan, all of them figures of real power!

The Twelve Savage Wolves! Each one a hardened warrior who had drawn blood!

”Qin Tianxuan... he might be from the Battle Department...” Zhao Tianying said in a low voice.

”So what if he’s from the Battle Department? Fuck, even if that Qin Tianxuan is a Celestial King himself, I’ll still slaughter him!” Zhao Tianxiong roared.

Outside, the sackcloth mourning clothes and a black coffin were all prepared.

The Zhao Family’s Twelve Savage Wolves had gathered their elite followers. Twelve hundred men assembled outside the mansion, their murderous aura soaring to the heavens.

The Five Great Clans, the twelve families.

The various forces were all fully armed.

Zhao Tianxiong, wrapped in a black overcoat with a white cloth tied around his sleeve, stood tall and faced the crowd.

”Whoever kills Qin Tianxuan, I will reward them with half of the Zhao Family’s fortune!”

With that one sentence, the three thousand men at the scene erupted.

Their eyes turned red with greed and bloodlust.

With profit before them and killing intent behind them, the atmosphere was explosive.

Zhao Tianxiong pointed a finger at the rain-swept sky and roared, ”My Zhao Family has committed murder and arson! I, Zhao Tianxiong, have even killed men from the Battle Department! The sky over Jiangning won’t change! This city still belongs to the Zhaos!”

”Big Brother, I am Zhao Yihu! You saved my life! The men I brought are all veterans from the Battle Department. They’ve lived well thanks to the Zhao Family. It’s time to repay you!”

Zhao Tianxiong nodded. ”After this is done, I’ll send you all abroad. There will be absolutely no repercussions!”

The others all received the same promise.

They were the scum from various major departments. At this moment, driven not only by the edge their power gave them but also by the promise of half the Zhao Family’s fortune, they had become bloodthirsty beasts.

Before these three thousand beast-like monsters, heh, forget a single Qin Tianxuan—they could probably wipe out an entire Battle Department encampment!

Just then, the second of the Zhao Family’s Tigers came forward to report. ”I used my connections and dug up some inside information. That Qin Tianxuan is confirmed to be a veteran of the Battle Department. He was probably some kind of officer. He just came back recently and has been guarding a grave at Mirror Lake. His woman is buried there!”

”Good! Qin Tianxuan, you killed my son, so I’ll dig up your wife’s grave!” Zhao Tianxiong ordered hoarsely. ”All units, move out! Take the back roads! Target: Mirror Lake!”

He then turned and glared at Zhao Tianying. ”You, take two hundred brothers and go find that Han Biwei. Doesn’t Qin Tianxuan have a daughter? Capture her for me! I’m going to flay that daughter of his alive right in front of that son of a bitch Qin Tianxuan!”

The Zhao Family’s army split into two forces, their momentum unstoppable.

Under the torrential rain, the entire Jiangning City was shrouded in a miserable gloom.

Everyone could feel the strange, murderous intent in the air.

The Zhao family’s second-in-command, leading three hundred elites armed with machetes and iron bars, used all his connections and quickly bribed a manager at the Blue Mountain Hotel.

”That Manager Zhao has a mistress on the side and owes us over seven million in high-interest loans. He folded after one word and told us everything. Han Biwei and Qin Niannian are staying in a standard room on the seventh floor. Heh, they can’t even afford a VIP suite.”

A glint flashed in Zhao Tianying’s eyes. ”Then stop wasting time. Seal the hotel and bring that bitch and the kid to the lobby!”

The three hundred elites charged ferociously toward the hotel.

「Meanwhile, at the South City Orphanage」

A piece of intelligence suddenly arrived.

The Zhao Family’s thugs have targeted Niannian and Han Biwei!

How should we respond?

Wutian and the others looked to Qin Tianxuan.

Qin Tianxuan stood with his hands behind his back, watching the torrential downpour. His tone was level. ”The route from the Zhao Family Mansion to the Blue Mountain Hotel covers twelve streets over a distance of twenty li. Lock them all down immediately. Deploy my Personal Guard and set up blockades along the way. Kill any member of the Zhao Family on sight. No report necessary!”

He raised his hand and checked the time. ”Send a helicopter to pick up Niannian and Han Biwei. Take them to Su City and get them settled!”

”Yes, sir!”

At that moment, another urgent report came in.

”Report! Three thousand of the Zhao Family’s thugs are heading straight for Mirror Lake! They’ve brought excavators and other heavy machinery! They say they’re going to demolish the Lady’s grave!”

WHAT?!

A wave of fury washed over everyone present, and their murderous aura surged to the heavens!

But Qin Tianxuan just let out a furious roar, his figure flashing like lightning as he charged directly into the curtain of rain!
