Celestial Night Emperor

Chapter 18: Chapter 18: The Night Emperor is No More

Resign from all his positions in the Battle Department?

Become a lone figure from now on, with no power or status to his name?

Just like that, Qin Tianxuan left, leaving the Celestial Hall Elders and the senior officials of the Battle Department stunned and speechless.

Meanwhile, the six division heads under the Night Emperor had already begun unceremoniously ushering people out.

”The Master has given an order! From this day forward, Mirror Lake Valley is off-limits to the world! We, the six divisions, have resolved to stand guard here. All of you, please leave!”

Their tone was blunt, and the six of them, led by Battle Pavilion Wutian, wore hostile expressions.

The Celestial Hall Elders and the senior officials had no choice but to withdraw.

”Reporting to the Elders! The Heaven-Suppressing King’s injuries are severe. His limbs can be reattached, but the man himself is crippled. He has no strength left at all!”

The Elders and senior officials exchanged a look, each sucking in a sharp breath.

Now, Night Emperor Celestial Profound had truly made an enemy of the powerful Emperor Clans!

”How should we handle this?” The twelve senior officials wore varied expressions, but all were tinged with worry.

”Tianxuan will definitely lose his position as Grand Commander of the Northern Domain. Who knows what other punishments the higher-ups will impose!”

As they sighed over the matter, the powers represented by the great families of Da Xia had already reacted.

”Strip Qin Tianxuan of all privileges within the Battle Department!”

”Annul all of Qin Tianxuan’s merits and achievements!”

”Reclaim Qin Tianxuan’s Nine Great Battle Armies!”

One harsh punishment was issued after another.

The Five Great Elders and the twelve senior officials were worried that the Night Emperor’s Nine Great Battle Armies would refuse to comply, but news soon arrived. The Lieyang, Hu Ben, Celestial Strategy, and the other armies of the nine had all returned to the command of the Da Xia Battle Department!

”It is the Night Emperor’s command. We must carry it out!”

Then, a large chest was sent directly from the Northern Domain’s General Headquarters to the Five Great Celestial Hall Elders.

When they opened it, they found Qin Tianxuan’s more than six hundred medals of merit, large and small, along with his certificates of commendation.

There were also the bank passbooks for money awarded to him by Da Xia, expensive supplements, and even rare gems, gold, and silver objects that had been paid as tribute by various foreign powers.

’He even returned the living stipend awarded by the Battle Department!’ The Five Great Elders felt a bitter taste in their mouths.

”There are also many valuable antiques, paintings, calligraphy, and jewelry here. These were all gifts from the Night Emperor’s private friends. He’s not keeping any of it?”

Qin Tianxuan was a man of his word. He had completely and utterly left the Battle Department.

He didn’t take a single cent.

Every medal and certificate was returned!

To relinquish the power in his hands just like that, without even frowning... now that was a truly upstanding and honorable man!

As they were still reeling from this, more shocking news arrived, one piece after another.

”Formerly under the Night Emperor’s command, fifty-seven generals of the Lieyang Army have left the battle army and voluntarily resigned!”

”Formerly under the Night Emperor’s command, sixty-four high and low-ranking War Generals of the Hu Ben Army have voluntarily resigned and will no longer hold any position within the battle army!”

...

From the Nine Great Battle Armies, a total of five hundred forty War Generals, high and low-ranking, all of them renowned commanders of unparalleled valor and illustrious achievements, had resigned en masse!

And that wasn’t all. The six divisions formerly under the Night Emperor, led by the War Pavilion, all withdrew completely!

”Now that is the true reaction of the Night Emperor’s iron-blooded men!”

”They couldn’t disobey because it was Tianxuan’s order, but they are furious to the extreme about the punishments from the higher-ups!”

The Celestial Hall Elders stamped their feet and sighed. ”They’re destroying their own Great Wall! This is truly a case of destroying their own Great Wall!”

”Report! The ruling cabinet in the Imperial Capital, in conjunction with the Daqin Royal Family and the Divine Doctor Ye Family, has reassigned a Celestial King to guard the Northern Domain! The Southern Domain is still guarded by the Heaven-Suppressing King. We hear that the Emperor Clans and great families in the Imperial Capital are drinking and celebrating right now, cheering that the leaders of Da Xia’s four domains are finally all their own people!”

The Celestial Hall Elder Wutian’s face was grim; the twelve senior officials were expressionless.

”We’ll see what these so-called Celestial Kings can do when the Celestial Demons rise from the ashes!”

”Hmph. In the end, they’ll probably have to go back and beg Tianxuan for help!”

Things having come to this, they could only accept it with heavy hearts.

”Elders, I have an idea!” one of the senior officials suddenly said in a hushed voice. ”We have to preserve Night Emperor Tianxuan’s military service record!”

”Exactly! Even if Tianxuan has resigned from all his positions, he can at least remain a soldier in the Battle Department!”

”That way, if a major crisis occurs in the future, we can still ask Tianxuan to come out of seclusion!”

Once they had agreed on this, the Five Great Elders and the twelve senior officials departed.

At the same time, false and slanderous rumors began to circulate.

”Night Emperor Celestial Profound was defeated by the Heaven-Suppressing King at the shores of Mirror Lake and suffered grave injuries!”

”Night Emperor Tianxuan committed a grave error and was expelled from the Battle Department!”

With several powerful families in the Imperial Capital intentionally fabricating and spreading these stories, the Night Emperor’s prestige began to crumble.

The world only worships winners!

The so-called victor becomes king; history is written by the winners.

It seemed Night Emperor Celestial Profound had become a loser.

However, the various foreign powers that received this news were inexplicably delighted.

Especially the resurgent masses of the Celestial Demons!

In the deserts of the Northern Domain, the remaining Celestial Demon organizations gathered once more. Meanwhile, the evil forces of the Dark World were also stirring restlessly.

But the great families and aristocrats of the Imperial Capital paid it no mind, believing they could rest easy.

At that moment, Qin Tianxuan had already arrived alone in Su City, unable to wait to see his daughter.

’I wonder what Niannian is doing right now?’ As a new father, Qin Tianxuan’s heart was filled with happiness and longing.

He got out of a car at the Su City highway exit, with Battle Pavilion Wutian and the others behind him.

”I’ve already left the Battle Department. We’re in an era of peace now, so you should all continue managing the Night Emperor’s organization! Don’t follow me unless it’s something important. I want to live like a normal person for a few days!”

”Yes, sir!” His subordinates respectfully acknowledged the order, but they had no intention of leaving. They would definitely follow their Master all the way.

Qin Tianxuan waved his hand dismissively and walked away from the highway. Just as he was about to call Han Biwei, a black, extended-length luxury car appeared.

It was followed by a second, then a third...
