Celestial Night Emperor

Chapter 30: Chapter 30: Expelled from the Family

Han Qian Jun trembled. ”Mom?”

”I told you to kneel!”

Han Qian Jun gritted his teeth and, with no other choice, knelt in front of all the guests.

Jiang Wan Jun could only kneel beside him.

The matriarch tapped her cane on the ground. ”What a fine daughter you’ve raised! Is her goal to anger me to death so you can split the family’s assets, is that it?”

Han Qian Jun had always been a filial son, so he simply lowered his head, offering no defense.

”Mom, you can’t say that!” Jiang Wan Jun finally couldn’t bear it any longer and looked up. ”In all these years, we’ve never been part of the family’s senior management. Qian Jun is the Han Family’s eldest son, yet he’s still stuck working a sales job in a subsidiary. And before Weiwei left, she never spent a single cent of your Han family’s money!”

Tears streamed down Jiang Wan Jun’s face as she spoke. ”Is it really just because you didn’t give birth to Qian Jun? Is that why you treat him like an outsider?”

The matriarch despised any mention of the subject. With a sudden motion, she slapped Jiang Wan Jun across the face.

Years ago, while the old patriarch’s first wife was still alive, this woman had merely been his mistress. Even back then, she had sworn that the moment she became the mistress of the Han household, she would drive out the first wife’s child.

And that child was the eldest son, Han Qian Jun.

But Han Qian Jun was, after all, the eldest son and the child of the first wife, so for all these years, she’d never had an opportunity to move against him.

Now, her chance had come. Using Han Biwei’s scandal, she could finally seize the opportunity to eliminate this lingering threat!

She raised her hand and slapped Jiang Wan Jun again. The old woman seized the opportunity to rage, ”You have no respect for your elders or your station! I am the Sect Leader of the Han Family! Is it your place to speak?”

Han Qian Jun was filled with grief and indignation. When he saw the old woman raise her cane to strike his wife again, he gritted his teeth and shot out a hand to block it.

”So, Han Qian Jun, you’ve finally decided to drop all pretenses!” the Han matriarch roared.

The core members of his second uncle’s faction rushed over, pointing and hurling abuse at Han Qian Jun.

The matriarch pretended to wipe away tears, banging her cane on the floor as she cried out, ”Friends and family, you all see this! This beast has never treated me as his mother! That’s right, I didn’t give birth to him, but in all these years, when have I ever mistreated him? I ask you all to be the judge!”

But what was there to judge?

Everyone knew about the Han Family’s sordid affairs.

As the eldest son of the first wife, Han Qian Jun had been so oppressed over the years that he could barely hold his head up.

It was crystal clear to any outsider that the matriarch and her biological son’s faction feared Han Qian Jun would demand his share of the inheritance.

But now, all these friends and relatives played dumb, siding with the matriarch without exception.

They got so caught up in their roles that they began to sound genuinely, righteously indignant.

A heavyset man walked up and kicked Han Qian Jun, making him double over in pain.

The man had had a few drinks and was eager to make a show of his support.

He sneered, ”I, Wang Longhai, am a man of some repute in Su City, and there’s nothing I despise more than an unfilial son like you. Come on, get him for me!”

Wang Longhai, the boss of Su City’s Long River Property. He made his fortune in demolition, had underworld connections, and was a ruthless local tyrant.

He was Li Xiaohai’s sworn brother, one of a pack of villainous cronies, and he was certainly putting on a show.

Han Qian Jun was beaten black and blue by Wang Longhai and his men.

Finally, someone who couldn’t bear to watch any longer stepped in with a placating smile.

The matriarch, feeling that was enough, slowly announced, ”From this moment on, Han Qian Jun is no longer an heir to the Han Family. In my capacity as Sect Leader, I hereby expel him!”

Han Qian Jun weakly pushed himself up and cried out in anguish, ”You... you’re really throwing me out?”

”It wasn’t my decision alone,” the old woman said coldly. ”It was a decision made by the entire Han Family, from the elders to the younger generation! Now get out. And you can forget about the family business.”

The light in Han Qian Jun’s eyes gradually faded. Beside him, Jiang Wan Jun was sobbing too hard to speak.

The situation was irreversible. Everyone present watched with cold indifference.

He looked around and saw only enemies.

He could weep with his head bowed, but who would care?

Han Qian Jun spat out a mouthful of blood and sighed. ”No matter what, you are still the mother who raised me. I will continue to honor you as such!”

With that, he propped himself up and kowtowed.

After three kowtows, Jiang Wan Jun helped him to his feet. The desolate couple limped and stumbled out of the hotel.

The sun shone brightly outside. Behind them, the sounds of joyous laughter from his second uncle’s family echoed from the hotel.

The couple supported each other, yet it felt as if they were walking through a frozen cellar.

When you weep, you weep alone.

But when you laugh, the world laughs with you.

Such is life, and such is the human heart.

Coming toward them were Qin Tianxuan and Han Biwei, holding Niannian’s hand and smiling as they approached.

When Han Biwei looked up and saw the scene before her, she froze.

A glint flashed in Qin Tianxuan’s eyes. ”It looks like Uncle Han is hurt. Who did this to him?”

”Dad! Dad, what happened to you?” Han Biwei rushed forward frantically, falling to her knees before Han Qian Jun and wailing, ”I’ve been a terrible daughter! A terrible daughter!”

Niannian ran over too. She gently steadied her mother and asked timidly, ”Grandpa, does it hurt?”

”No, it doesn’t hurt...” Han Qian Jun was filled with regret. ”Grandpa never accepted you before. I was so awful to you... I’m so sorry, Niannian. Grandpa will never be like that again. Our family... our family... we’ll live a good life... a good life...”

Before he could finish speaking, his vision went black, and he passed out.
