Naruto: Reborn as Konoha's Idol

Chapter 56: Chapter 56: Encountering Orochimaru

The second exam takes place in Konoha’s Forest of Death. It’s a brutal exam where teams fight for Heaven and Earth Scrolls, eliminating more than half of the participants. They even have to sign a life and death waiver before the exam because people really could die.

The exam begins, and Kano’s trio enters the Forest of Death. Unlike other teams who start by sprinting toward the finish line, they sit down to rest right at the starting point.

”Question! What is the most important thing in this exam?”

”I know! I know!” Naruto raised both hands to answer. ”It’s the scrolls! As long as we have the Heaven and Earth Scrolls, we can pass the exam!”

”idiot! It’s survival. The prerequisite for snatching scrolls is staying alive.”

”Sasuke’s answer is correct, plus one point!”

”So, what do we do next?”

Sasuke asked Kano; he had grown accustomed to doing so. Originally, he was the solitary type. But ever since they formed a team, with Kano making the plans, their efficiency had improved significantly. Sasuke had also begun to rely on Kano as his external brain.

”Next, I plan to make a motorhome. We’ll usually drive forward, and at night we can stay in the vehicle for a peaceful sleep.”

”A motorhome? What’s that? It sounds like something very conspicuous. Is it really okay?”

”It’s fine, don’t worry. Leave the motorhome to me; you guys go find some ingredients. It would be even better if you could bring back a pot.”

”Isn’t speedrunning just easier...”

Naruto grumbled but still obediently went to find ingredients.

Kano ordered the shadow clones to cut wood while she looked for a good spot to prepare materials for a fire. This battle might be more dangerous than ever, so Kano didn’t continue wearing her cute little dress or her beautiful high heels.

Even though she knew everyone would be fine in the end, she still couldn’t afford to be careless.

Actually, Naruto was right; speedrunning was indeed a good method. Both Gaara’s team and Kiba’s team were speedrunning. However, the enemies on their team’s path weren’t so simple.

Although Kano had Zabuza with her and was mostly safe, Orochimaru was one of the Sannin, and not even a Zabuza could deal with him.

Sasuke returned after a short while, carrying a rabbit. He somewhat awkwardly processed the rabbit into meat.

Naruto also returned quickly, carrying a fish.

”Hey, I’m back. Kano, look! Look at the huge fish I caught!”

Sasuke glanced at Kano, and Kano shook her head. He quickly understood Kano’s meaning. Drawing a Kunai, he rushed forward.

”Sasuke, what are you doing!”

Faced with Sasuke’s sudden attack, Naruto immediately blocked. However, his body couldn’t move, and Sasuke instantly pierced his heart.

”How... did you find out...”

The Transformation Jutsu dispelled, revealing a yellow-skinned Hidden Rain Village Ninja. Since only Kano and Sasuke were present without that naive fellow Naruto, the two of them started with lethal attacks.

One used a shadow to control the enemy unexpectedly, while the other launched a direct assault. No nonsense, just a direct kill.

”Hmph, an impatient idiot like Naruto would never go fishing! Besides, he always calls Kano ’Lucy-chan.’ Someone with such low-level Transformation Jutsu dares to come here and seek death.”

Sasuke couldn’t help but taunt after the kill, but Kano didn’t have that habit. Even if she killed an enemy, she wouldn’t reveal her skills; who knew if someone was eavesdropping or if the enemy could be resurrected.
