I Return From Hell

Chapter 182: Chapter 171: Overly Sensitive, Loan Sharks Come Knocking

Dorm 303.

Lin Yuxia held Shi Qiushui, clearly feeling the girl in her arms trembling nonstop—a sign of extreme fear.

Guan Xiaorou was comforting her from the side.

Xia Yu, on the other hand, looked at the female police officer by the door and asked about the situation.

”A beast appeared on campus and killed someone. The victim was her boyfriend.”

The policewoman spoke vaguely, ”She’s already given her statement and requested to return to her dorm. We brought her back, and I’ll be standing guard here tonight.”

”If you need any help, just call me.”

’So... the man killed next to that U8 was Shi Qiushui’s older boyfriend. It’s a good thing Shi Qiushui stayed hidden in the car. If she’d come out, she would’ve been dead for sure.’

’For an ordinary person, facing a Red-eyed Mutant Beast is like an infant facing an adult!’

’So, does that mean I saved Shi Qiushui’s life?’

Xia Yu remembered clearly that after the Red-eyed Lizard had killed Shi Qiushui’s boyfriend, it was still attacking the U8. If she hadn’t shown up in time...

Shi Qiushui would have died without a doubt.

”Thank you for your hard work.”

She poured the policewoman a glass of water, but the offer was declined.

Meanwhile, because a homicide was involved, the incident of the ”man-eating beast” caused quite a stir on campus—and that was after the authorities had deliberately suppressed information and controlled public opinion.

The university also began to strengthen its security and search every corner of the campus.

In a short time, numerous stray cats and dogs were ’escorted’ off campus. Every dorm was searched, pets were strictly forbidden, and even the faculty and staff in their residential buildings were prohibited from keeping them.

This was obviously a bit of an overreaction.

But at a tense time like this, no one dared to disobey the arrangements.

Over the next few days, Xia Yu continued her daily physical training. Since there was a ’victim’ in her dorm, she had a perfectly legitimate excuse to skip classes and her internship.

Even Wang Quanzhi didn’t try any of his usual romantic antics during this time. Instead, he spent most of his time using this opportunity to show concern for Shi Qiushui’s condition, trying to get closer to Xia Yu’s roommates.

He was also trying to make a good impression on Xia Yu.

Unfortunately, Xia Yu didn’t care at all. In fact, with Wang Quanzhi’s attention diverted from her, she felt much more relaxed.

「Four days after the end of the ninth Mist Event.」

On the way to the cafeteria to get food.

”Little Yu, what kind of beast do you think could eat people?”

”Qiushui said it was a monster with bright red eyes and a long body. It just sounds so terrifying.”

Lin Yuxia lowered her voice and asked, ”And the police told us not to talk about it. All the posts on the school forum discussing it have disappeared. It’s so strange.”

”Maybe she was so scared she started hallucinating,” Xia Yu said calmly.

”Huh?”

”There isn’t something wrong with her mental state, is there?”

”Should we take Qiushui to a psychiatric hospital to get checked out?”

As the head of Dorm 303, Lin Yuxia was very responsible. She made the suggestion with a worried look on her face.

Xia Yu was silent.

Lin Yuxia continued, ”No! That might upset Qiushui. Her condition has only just started to improve; we can’t provoke her.”

”Besides, the police also said it was a beast, so it probably wasn’t a hallucination.”

”Sigh.”

”Qiushui is so unlucky.”

Xia Yu, however, didn’t think Shi Qiushui was pitiful.

’In a little over two months, the Apocalypse will break out. When that happens, she’ll face a much crueler reality. Getting a taste of it now isn’t necessarily a bad thing.’

’The unluckier ones will be caught in a Mist Event before the Apocalypse even starts, and that will be even more brutal...’

”Everything has two sides,” she said.

’Two sides?’

Lin Yuxia spoke up, ”That’s true. With her older man dead, she can avoid being caught by his wife later. If that had happened, it would have become a campus-wide scandal, and Qiushui might have even been forced to drop out.”

”When you put it that way, it really might not be a bad thing.”

’???’

’You really have an overactive imagination.’

Xia Yu fell silent again. Just then, her phone rang.

She answered the call, then hung up.

A glint appeared in Xia Yu’s eyes.

The call was from Master Wu, telling her about a place in another province where Yin Qi was gathering.

’Should I go?’

After a moment of contemplation, she decided to go.

’It’s not like I have anything better to do anyway.’

She had Hong She come over to drive. Little Flower sat in the passenger seat while Xia Yu took the back, ’training’ the whole way by enhancing the explosive power of every part of her body.

In the car.

Hong She kept glancing at the back seat through the rearview mirror.

Aside from marveling at how great Xia Yu’s figure was, he was even more amazed by her mindset!

’She’s already so strong, yet she’s still working this hard?’

It made him feel deeply ashamed.

’I have to work even harder!’
