I Return From Hell

Chapter 163: Chapter 156: The Person in the Wall

BAM.

The stall door was violently kicked open.

It was empty inside.

”No one?”

Xie Chengyong frowned. ’Was that woman just now lying to me?’

’She had no reason to lie to me, though.’

’Did the person in here move?’

BAM.

With that thought, he kicked open the third stall.

Empty.

BAM.

He kicked open the second stall.

Empty.

Just as he was about to kick the first stall...

”AH!”

A blood-curdling scream echoed from the hallway, then was abruptly cut short.

Xie Chengyong whipped his head around. His flashlight beam cut through the hallway, and he could vaguely make out a hand plunged into Red Sister’s back, clutching a heart that was still beating—THUMP, THUMP, THUMP.

A chill shot up Xie Chengyong’s spine.

His scalp went numb with terror, and his legs gave out beneath him.

’So brutal!’

’Who did it?’

’Master Hong?’

’Or those people from the third floor?’

’Or maybe that mysterious person hiding on the fourth floor?’

Countless theories raced through his mind. But no matter which one was true, his earlier aggression vanished, replaced by a deathly silence. He didn’t dare make a sound.

He was terrified of drawing the killer’s attention.

STEP.

Xie Chengyong even took a step back, preparing to hide in one of the stalls.

Maybe...

’...that would save his life?’

He didn’t know, but instinct compelled him to do it anyway.

...

...

「On the third floor.」

PFFT.

A dozen or so oral organs shot from Xia Yu’s hands, instantly enveloping the scholar who was trying to dodge.

”No!”

The scholar’s Yin Qi was already in turmoil and he was heavily wounded. Now, assaulted by so many oral organs, he had no chance of escape and was hit repeatedly.

His combat Power plummeted further.

Little Flower’s face detached itself in the nick of time, slapping precisely onto the scholar’s face.

The scholar instantly froze.

PFFT.

Xia Yu closed the distance, her Blood Butterfly striking with precision.

It pierced straight through him.

”AHHH!”

BANG!

The scholar let out a final, wretched scream as his spirit scattered, dissolving into a cloud of boundless Yin Qi.

Seeing this, the Ancient-dressed Woman turned and fled, passing through a nearby wall.

BANG.

Xia Yu accelerated, kicked the room’s door off its hinges, and immediately sent another dozen or so oral organs flying after the woman, with Little Flower right behind them.

”AHHH!”

An instant later, the Ancient-dressed Woman’s agonized shriek echoed from the other side of the wall.

Dead.

And with that.

Both ghosts were now dead.

The battle was over.

HMMMM.

Little Flower began to absorb the surrounding Yin Qi, strengthening itself.

20%!

30%!

...

These two ghosts contained far more Yin Qi than the child ghost had, causing the completion rate of Little Flower’s fifth transformation to increase dramatically.

By the time it had finished absorbing all the surrounding Yin Qi...

...the completion rate for Little Flower’s fifth transformation finally reached 52%!

’Over halfway there!’

’There’s still one more ghost.’

’If I kill it, I might reach 70%!’

Xia Yu’s gaze shifted to the fourth floor.

Just then, Little Flower sent her a message: The ghost upstairs has vanished!

”Vanished?”

’It must have possessed someone.’

Xia Yu tightened her grip on her Blood Butterfly and charged for the fourth floor. ”Let’s go!”

As for collecting the oral organs and the Crystal Cores from the brains of the third-floor Mutants, she had already finished while Little Flower was absorbing the Yin Qi.

WHOOSH.

Little Flower followed close behind.

BANG.

The iron door to the fourth floor was nothing to Xia Yu.

She sent it flying with a single kick.

But...

...the scene that followed made her pupils contract: a woman in an extremely worn-out nightgown was standing face-to-face with Red Sister, their bodies almost touching.

Red Sister’s eyes were wide with terror, her face a mask of agony.

’She’s been killed!’

Xia Yu saw it in a single glance. Of course, that alone wasn’t enough to shock her. What truly shocked her was the feeling of extreme danger radiating from the woman in the nightgown!

’What is this thing?’

She braced herself, ready for a fight.

The next moment.

SLAM.

The woman in the nightgown casually flung Red Sister, sending her crashing violently against a nearby wall at an incredible speed.

The wall shuddered violently.

Red Sister couldn’t withstand such a massive impact, and her body wasn’t nearly as hard as the wall. So... in an instant, she was reduced to a pile of gore, splattered across its surface.

’That Power.’

”A First-grade Spiritual Life?!”

Xia Yu quickly made her assessment. ’In terms of pure Power and speed, it might even be stronger than me.’

’I wonder about its combat experience, though?’

She quickly processed the information in her mind, analyzing:

’Nightgown.’

’The style was popular a few years ago.’

’Probably not a creature from a Different Dimension Space.’

’The clothes are heavily worn.’

’It doesn’t look torn or old from wear and tear. It’s as if it was scraped forcefully against something hard and uneven.’

’Is there a place like that in this hotel?’

’Unclear.’

’Wait.’

Xia Yu noticed a hole in the wall of Room 404 that faced the hallway. A large amount of rubble and broken bricks littered the corridor.

’Could it be...?’

A bold guess formed in her mind: ’This woman was inside the wall!!!’

Little Flower provided further proof: The location where it had sensed resentment from the third floor was right at the wall of Room 404, facing the hallway!

’Looks like this hotel is a real death trap.’

Xia Yu was just wondering: Why did this corpse have resentment before, but not now?

VWOOM.

A monumental wave of resentment erupted from the corpse, surging toward the heavens.

Little Flower instantly felt an uncontrollable urge to rush forward!

To devour the resentment!

Xia Yu, however, felt a chill in her heart. ’The threat from this Resentful Corpse now is even stronger. It probably has seventy to eighty percent of Little Flower’s strength at its Peak!’

WHOOSH!

Then, without even glancing back at Xia Yu and Little Flower, the Resentful Corpse sprinted straight for the other end of the hallway.

”Hmm?”

’Has it found the person it resents?’

Xia Yu didn’t try to stop it. Instead, a look of delight crossed her face.

’Logically, since Little Flower and I pose a greater threat, it should have dealt with us first, or at least been on guard, right?’

’But it just charged purposefully toward the bathroom.’

’The only explanation is that the person it resents is in there!’

’If it can kill that person, this Resentful Corpse’s combat power will become... negligible!’

’That would save me a lot of trouble.’

「Meanwhile.」

”Nooo!”

Seeing this, Xie Chengyong, who had just retreated to the front of the first stall, screamed without hesitation, yanked the door open, and dove inside.

He slammed the door shut!

All in one smooth motion!

Too bad.

How could a stall door possibly stop the Resentful Corpse?

The Resentful Corpse reached the bathroom in under three seconds. It spread its five fingers, which, like sharp iron claws, instantly pierced through the stall door.

PFFT.

The sound of flesh being torn followed.

THUD.

The Resentful Corpse casually flung something backward, and a portly figure was thrown violently out of the bathroom, landing with a crash in the hallway.

Xie Chengyong!

”Did it succeed?”

Xia Yu raised an eyebrow, her heart full of anticipation.
